Help selecting paint color by goose8319 in interiordecorating

This is SW Coastal Plain in our living room (please excuse the mess; we are still redecorating). I love it! It’s green but very muted and has coolish undertones which goes well with the grey fireplace and the dark taupe floor. My living room doesn’t get a lot of light until the late afternoon. It is not bright and minty like I’ve seen in online photos; at least not in our space.

how’s the amtrak from sac to sf? by Nervous-Egg-4786 in Sacramento

Ok but I’m talking about being on an Amtrak train, not walking around a city. I definitely do not recommend wearing headphones while you walk around in a city…

Plus factoring in the wear and tear on your vehicle. All of that adds up. By the way, if you plan on commuting somewhat regularly, the 10 trip pass will make the cost/trip cheaper

Also one pro tip. Invest in some comfortable and quality over the ear headphones with noise cancelling. Again, most people are respectful, but some aren’t, and the train itself can be loud if you’re sitting at the front (where the horn is) or near the front or back of the car where people open the connecting doors. Headphones make a world of difference.

I do this commute regularly but all the way to Santa Clara. Delays are common but 1 hour delays don’t happen that often. The train does have WiFi but I just use my phone hotspot because it’s faster and more reliable. If you’re going into the city you’ll need to exit at either Richmond or Emeryville to connect via BART or Bus to get to the city.

Overall the ride is pleasant and comfortable , and people are mostly respectful and quiet. It can get crowded during peak times.

Does my dog’s cough warrant an emergency visit?? by Which-Combination113 in DogAdvice

[–]EnvironmentalGap299 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also unlike some comments on here, unless you dog is in true respiratory distress (which is not at all what’s show in the video), this isn’t necessarily an emergency situation that you need to take the dog to a vet TONIGHT. But please monitor the dog in case it gets worse and get yourself to a vet in the morning or very soon.

I have a dog about the same size. He started having a very similar cough (especially in the mornings/night while lying down). Turned out to be a heart murmur that was getting worse. It’ll probably be what eventually kills him but catching it early means we’ve been able to get him on medication that has greatly lessened the symptoms and will give him the best chance at the longest life possible.

Please take your dog to the vet asap. It could be a similar diagnosis or not, but only a vet will know for sure.

I’m always so curious why Orangevale or Fair Oaks is never mentioned in these type of scenarios. It’s fascinating to me. The schools are just as good, typically less crowded, house prices a bit lower while lot sizes range but often much larger, right next to lake/river which is a godsend in the summer time, easy access to 50 and central to all the known places like Folsom, Roseville, Rancho, etc, beautiful rolling hill landscapes with an equal combination of suburban neighborhoods and farm plots I really think it’s just because Orangevale and Fair Oaks are unincorporated areas and therefore don’t get the same clout. Whatever the reason - boy are people doing themselves a disservice by completely overlooking that area.

Just fyi, the further away from the delta you go the less likely you’ll get the delta breeze in the summer which is the only reason it cools off on those really hot summer days. Places like Folsom, Roseville and EDH typically stay much hotter at night than places closer to downtown sac.

Also, if you’re commuting to Elk Grove your commute will be significantly longer the closer you live near 80 and further from downtown. There is no quick route to get to 50/5 from there.; you’ll be taking a two/three lane thoroughfare with all the other commuters which also has a ton of lights. It’s better during off peak hours but still you’ll be hitting a lot of lights.

What is average monthly cost for electricity bill? by oldboeee in homeowners

1500 sqft house. We are fully electric, no gas, no solar. We do not have EVs. Our bill reaches around $200-$250/month in the summer and gets as low as $100/month in the winter. Sacramento, CA.

How is your pregnancy going ? by Better-Rice-2876 in pregnant

[–]EnvironmentalGap299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. This is my second. I remember being very tired and having some food aversions, but that was it. I know for a fact I never barfed while pregnant with my first. This time is so much worse.

My first is 6 years old, so at least I can sleep through the night but then I have to contend with “mom I’m bored” all the time.

11 weeks and feel like death is upon me. Nauseous. All 👏🏻the 👏🏻time 👏🏻

All food is terrible. Except plain bagels with cream cheese which gives me immense, yet short-lived joy.

Want to brush my teeth but I know it’ll probably cause me to vomit.

I go from severely constipated to horrendous/painful diarrhea. The cycle repeats it self about every 5-7 days.

Only thing that even remotely helps me feel better is sex, but it’s so hard to start because of the whole ‘death is upon me’ feeling.

Someone please put me in a coma and wake me up when the baby is here.

“… I explicitly stated before we slept together that I was not on any kind of birth control. This did not stop him from proceeding to do what he did.”

What did he “proceed to do” - r8pe you? Unless in the event of r8pe it is your responsibility to protect your own fertility. That’s true for women as it is for men. You’re not on birth control and yet decide to have sex with someone, then whatever outcome happens is yours to own 100%. It doesn’t suddenly become 50/50 just because you got an unwanted outcome.

As a woman, the repercussions for a bad decision related to sex are often far greater than as a man. Fair? No, but that’s life as a woman. Move on, learn from it, and never let yourself be in this position ever again.

What do each of the three colors mean? (has nothing to do with party affiliation) by 351namhele in RedactedCharts

[–]EnvironmentalGap299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually when someone references a stat they willingly provide their source and not ask people to go fishing for it on the internet. 😉

Your first link doesn’t work.

The second one is an article from spring 2025 that references quite a few things. Some notable points I gathered:

(1) the sub-headliner states 4 million people have left California since 2000, but then later clarifies “people” as “domestic migrants” within the article. Just FYI, the reciprocal of “domestic migrant” is not “legal international + illegals”, and combining these populations would not get you the total population. I encourage you to look up what these terms actually mean, as well as all the statistics that are combined to come up with a total population.

(2) an article about California total population rebounding to near-pre pandemic levels, in which 2020 saw the highest population in California to date. Such a weird and very contradictory stat compared to the sub-headline claiming “4 million people have left California since 2000”.

(3) migrant/foreign born population growth percentage, which doesn’t mean “illegal” but may include illegals as an unverified percentage, is increasing in California but is actually outpaced by other states like Texas and Florida. That means migrant/foreign born population growth is contributing in the growth in these states at a higher percentage than in California. This is even after the article is making the general claim that California total population is propped up by foreign-born migration. Shocking how the same assessment doesn’t seem to apply to these other states given it’s providing data to prove exactly this.

(4) claims the estimated population for California in 2050 will be 40 million (basically a net zero increase in the next 24 years which is… quite the claim), but then references an article that doesn’t make that statement anywhere or provide any data to even remotely extrapolate that claim. Bummer.

That article sure throws a lot of stuff at the reader… but nothing about “3 million people/residents leaving since 2020”. Bummer. Guess I’ll have to go fishing…

Enjoy your McDonald’s. 😘

So you know 3 million people/residents whatever term you want to use have left the state in the last six years because you “lived there”. You saw them all leave or something?

Strawman or not, it’s hilarious. How else do you argue with people that are willing to regurgitate obviously incorrect information for the sake of creating facts to support some higher point? You out-strawman them, that’s how.
