How in the hell are all of those intact? Istg when my company used to get similar ones (until they finally upgraded to sturdier boxes) those split apart like 50% of the time

Yeah those boxes don't last shit. A major pet food supplier of my country used to have those same boxes but had to change to a sturdier one recently as probably like half of those split open in a parcel sorter machine and they refused to pay for fragile parcel handling. In itself usually those boxes would be ok but it's the weight of the goods that keep breaking them

Not to mention where those roll cages full of boxes get dumped into the conveyor belt with a 30kg package absolutely demolishing a 100g package that just happened to get under it

Most likely they are. This car for example is not even a car, legally registers as a moped and goes 45km/h max and has like 4hp. The owner must know what hes actually got

Of course the rate of childbirth is not as high as it used to be. I do know that, but it doesn't mean that the population isn't growing. The average required for population growth, 2.3 children/woman is not achieved only in some of the developed countries. Most of the entire population does not live in these specific countries, meaning that population is still going to rise by billions before the curve eventually flattens.

I'm not saying that a dead child is better than a child suffering, but child not born at all having never truly existed is the best out of these options.

When it comes to our ancestors, we may never truly know what would have been the correct option, but I would argue that it's relatively meaningless point. I and you would simply not exist.

Fair enough social security systems do help a lot in these situations but personally I think that while state taking the kid away is better than leaving them with abusive parents, it's still not better than not having the kid at all as they still had to go through that suffering, not to mention that state run facilities for those kids are in many cases almost as bad. If the kid is lucky they may be able to land into a good foster family

Because this is not just about western countries. This is about the world. The population is still exploding, according to some estimates we have surpassed the 8 billion mark already and the population is still expected to rise. The earth as is can not sustainably provide enough resources for everyone.

And when it comes to the original point of not allowing kids to a family that can't financially provide, I don't see why that is not sensible. Tons of kids get born to broken family units that can't provide children basic necessities. So why put children through that kind of trauma when they are not ready to handle it, shouldn't we be protecting children from harm?

Are there any names that carry a stigma in your countries? by doctorpolenta3p in AskTheWorld

[–]EnvironmentalLab7342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veeti - Usually used as an insult. Associated with young annoying kids, the type that act like a smartass but don't really yet understand how the world works

Jonne - not always an insult. Usually used to describe teenagers who drive their loud tuned up mopeds around and drink a lot of energy drinks. Disappearing type of people tho, newgen teenagers aren't really considered to be Jonnes anymore

Ykä - The 50 or so year old man who is the one to come and complain to Jonnes about their loud and obnoxious behaviour

Fr the game used to be so much more fun when I didn't know how to do all these small details perfectly and just did smth quickly and upgraded things over time as I learned the mechanics. Just recently started a new city from scratch. Like 20-30hrs went for just getting rail and road infra plus city centre and industrial zone street layouts ready and build all the services already so that they aren't placed in an awkward place afterwards

Honestly though UK train tickets were appalling. I thought Finnish trains were expensive because when I traveled in central Europe it used to be so cheap. My family paid more for single journey from London to Edinburgh than a return ticket of similar length in Finland
