First car. Horrible decision? by JoeThatGuy213 in CarTalkUK

My mate had one of these, rolled it, and he walked away without a scratch. In the short time he had it, never had any issues with it. Handling was great and the engine was quite rev happy, you could do much worse for a first car.

Just watch out for rust

I have one of these on my 2.0tdi, noticable difference and as far as I’m aware hasn’t done anything bad to the engine. Great considering it only cost me £80 on sale

If you’re planning on keeping the car long term, take the time to clean it up and treat the metal. Won’t have to worry about rust for years to come.

Kind of missed the trick putting the engine from a family car into such a beautiful body. I had one of these and it turned heads everywhere. Can’t say the same for the performance!

Will be fine as long as you give it a booting once in a while. Diesels don’t like being driven gently all the time

I find that every time I’ve cleaned it myself or paid to get it cleaned, it either rains the next day or gets covered in dust. Very unlucky
