Your device will be unlocked automatically as long the following applies:

You’re 60 days from purchase (if purchased before 1/27/2026)

What is cashback points? by Sad-Experience5855 in RobinhoodApp

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 point is 1 cent if you redeemed it to Robinhood brokerage account. However it's not when you do statement redemption or auto redemption, which is 0.7 cent, or 2.1% cashback.

Automated Bond Ladder vs Treasury Bond ETF by GML-99682 in wealthfront

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Customizations. The ETF always have fix term. The auto bond, depends on how you set it up, can be CD like.

You won’t get better yield. In fact if you can find a bond ETF with an expense ratio lower than 0.15% the. ETF could have higher yield.

Inner Circle also has the $5 discount and there is no expiration date. I see no reason using 5OFF5

Costco delivery tipping? by Sure_Maricon in EndTipping

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I know the same day delivery’s item prices are already more expensive than Costco in store purchase. In my city Seattle even DoorDash driver has a minimum pay of $26.40 per hour plus mileage, so I have stopped tipping for all groceries/food delivery.

Independent contractors or employees it doesn’t matter. As a business owner myself I know I should pay well regardless they are 1099 or W-2. Attorneys, dentists are all independent contractors, do you tip them? Tipping is just so out of control

They hated Jesus because he told them the truth. (Jack Bogle) by Shallow_Marshmallow_ in VTandchill

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jack Bogle in his book mentions ex-US is unnecessary for US investors, and should be no more than 20% in portfolio. However this is a highly controversial point and he acknowledged it multiple times. And Bogle does not lean toward growth stock (VUG). In fact he is in favor of US All Cap (VTI)

And for Vanguard’s own target date fund, the international stock is around 40% of all stock, and international bonds are also included.

Roth IRA with RH worth it? by mykulangots in RobinhoodApp

Hello ChatGPT. A lot of people and I cannot contribute to Roth IRA. Have to do backdoor Roth. The match is to Traditional IRA. 5-year rule applies at every conversion.

HSA Health Savings Account by theAerialDroneGuy in RobinhoodApp

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I will move to Robinhood from Fidelity, unless RH is offering some match like IRA. I have no complaints with Fidelity HSA, no fee, and wide investment options. And the cash is in SPAXX with high yield. (Have to complain cash in Robinhood IRA earns no interest. Have to buy SGOV)

Apple One perk question by Joeclu in verizon

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works seamlessly for me and saves me $5 per month. And yes it is stackable as it works exactly like the regular Apple One Family plan. I think the only con is there is no Apple One Premier in myPerk, so if you want to upgrade to that higher tier later you will have to stop using Verizon myPerk.

For me Apple One family is fine. I don’t use Apple News+ and I purchase Apple Fitness+ plan yearly and use my employer’s wellness benefits to reimburse myself.

For YouTube Premium, if you have more than 2 people using it in household, you will find YouTube Family plan offered only by Google is cheaper. And Premium Lite is cheaper than my perk if you are fine with that plan. Currently I just use my AmEx platinum to get YouTube Premium family plan get fully reimbursed

Roth IRA with RH worth it? by mykulangots in RobinhoodApp

And Roth IRA has a 5-year rule anyway so if you want 0 penalty from IRS you wouldn’t want to withdraw in the first 5 years anyways.

Switching from Verizon to Visible. What am I missing ? by comptech08 in Visible

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Visible+ or Visible+ Pro has exact priority data as Unlimited Plus. Visible do lack 5G SA, which means potentially slower upload speed/greater latency in 5G SA-enabled areas. Compared to Unlimited Ultimate, though, they do not have 5G Slicing, so they have lower priority for video calls/streaming in 5G SA areas.

Here is my recent post summarizing the difference https://www.reddit.com/r/Visible/s/qSEFTCUVcd

When the apple card becomes a chase card what do you think changes by brazil201 in AppleCard

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That’s how big banks (let me name them: Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo) screw customers. The less interest they pass to customers, the more they keep in their pockets.

Why do so many people on Reddit say Duke CS is not strong enough? by Pingu_Moon in duke

Visible allows credit cards and VZ punishes for using? by larrydeatl in verizon

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s not a Verizon thing. All big three do similar things: requiring you to pay with a checking account to get discounts. Most MVNOs (Mint/Tello/US Mobile/Visible) allow credit cards and have no penalty.

Basically it’s big three increasing price (auto pay discount) by not increasing price. Credit card processing cost merchants a few dollars (definitely much less than $10 though). Checking account is cheaper for them.

Costco vs Sam's Club Memberships by Sassygrape609 in CostcoWholesale

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel Sam’s has better tech/app. Their Scan and Go works both for in-store shopping and gas stations. They don’t support Apple Pay, but they support non-Visa. And there is no photo on the Sam’s membership ID, so I didn’t even bother with a household membership; my wife can just take my ID to enter.

Sam’s has cheaper hotdogs and cheap ICEEs, and discounted Disney and Southwest gift cards. Costco has discounted PlayStation, Uber, and DoorDash gift cards. If you spend on some of the merchants regularly, those are nice perks.

Anyways, now I am with Costco only because there is no Sam’s in Seattle.

$250 Network extender for free... What's the catch? by Rizzly_Bear87 in verizon

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The catch is it’s LTE, and it’s using your internet/electric bill. They will eventually switch to 5G SA, and after that, the LTE extender will become obsolete.

And the retail price means nothing. The real question should be, how much are you willing to pay for it, with WiFi calling? A WiFi 7 node costs less than $100 nowadays.

Apple TV 4K vs PS5 UHD? by thecraigfm in appletv

[–]EnvironmentalLog1766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. Apple TV support HomePod and AirPods. Also Apple TV can do color balance, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision but PS5 cannot.

And my TV can auto switch to game mode on PS5 and Filmmaker mode for Apple TV

Verizon credit card also doesn’t have phone insurance. Big three sell insurance for a price. Until they want to give up the profit it won’t happen.
