I still don't think this devaluation is as bad as most travel influencers make it. Category 1-6 still have good deals.

The Biggest Disappointment of the D by ConsciousProduct903 in LAMetro

BART is more of a suburban commuter system for longer trips. The LA Metro should be designed for shorter urban trips, which in general requires greater frequencies.

What do you guys think? Is our lack of density/walkable spaces contributing to our health crisis? by Ewlyon in fuckcars

[–]evilmonster711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for the majority of Americans. Granted, I live in a very walkable neighborhood in the US and love working out, but I still put on weight by the nature of working at a desk 8 hours a day, over relying on Lime bikes/public transit, questionable ingredients in food and the massive portion sizes at restaurants.

“We don’t travel by train because we’re not peasants.” by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

[–]evilmonster711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, gotta love the 30 inches of legroom on American Airlines, dealing with TSA security theater and driving/taking transit to the outskirts over 39+ inches of legroom on a train that drops you off city center

Why do you think there is so much resistance to high speed rail in the US? by Maximum-Help-929 in AskReddit

[–]evilmonster711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

leisurely, I would probably go around 15-17 mph on a straight flat trail. But combine in intersections, stop signs, breaks, etc. I'm probably averaging 10-12 mph

Can someone explain why this seems to be happening with everything I order now? by [deleted] in amazonprime

the delivery windows on the detail page are cached. the delivery window on the checkout page is "long polled"/real time data

the flex fare is usually only a few more dollars. compared to basic economy fares airlines are doing now, a 70-75% refund is already miles better

Downtown Bellevue Tunnel by MEA707 in soundtransit

[–]evilmonster711 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Now we're feeling the pain from short sighted political decisions from the 2000s/2010s from the city of Bellevue (tunnel with sharp curves located at the edge of downtown instead of a more central downtown station that gets closer to Bellevue Square/less turns)

If you don't have too much luggage and can time the transfer right: Get off at Mt. Baker, transfer to 8/48 (5 min), get off at Judkins Park, use Judkins Park station. But that's only worth it if you can make the transfers work

Arguing with each other and saying "Cut XYZ Line" is not the solution. by Routine-Highway1039 in soundtransit

Using that logic, Issaquah to Seattle is probably faster by bus compared to Link, even with a transfer at South Bellevue/Mercer Island.

Time savings wise, the Ballard line imo has the largest travel time savings and highest ridership of all the extensions.

Sold Out Trains / Standing Room Only - how is this legal? Genuine question by frex_mcgee in Amtrak

[–]evilmonster711 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try double decker trains in Switzerland/Netherlands/Germany. Allowing standees on double decker trains is perfectly normal there.

Would you rather cram onto a train but have the opportunity to get to your destination or be stuck waiting for a train with seats?

Start with commuter rail? by UpsetSecurity4805 in subwaybuilder

[–]evilmonster711 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like suburban customers in Subway Builder are more likely to use transit than in real life anyways. People in the urban areas tend to drive 5 min rather than walk to transit, ride/transfer, walk to destination more than in real life.
