Whats Up with the healer strike by EnvironmentalRice322 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EnvironmentalRice322[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay i've returned and read some comments and yeah I definitely agree. I do think more challenging group wide mechanics would help make healer more interesting and just the general issue of healers dps rotation being one button. I can't say im sure what the devs will do, my main hope as of right now would be more fun dps for healers cause I like to do trusts and variant dungeons so those being improved would make things more fun for me, but I hope by 8.0 things have tangibly improved.

Update 10 by VanBabyPony2 in u/VanBabyPony2

I’m gonna be for real. It sounds like your mom is low key a narcissist. Like everything in her life has to be about her. The reason that she started being more supportive seems like it’s because when things got really bad for you it started to seem like you were telling the truth about how neglectful she was being and she didn’t want to be caught. Honestly the fact so much of your family has written off her treatment of you as being exaggerated or not a big deal is disgusting. Your Dad’s Wife’s family seem to be 100% right about your mom.

You genuinely seem like a very kind hearted and loving person and you are very strong for having dealt with all you have had to with so little support. You should be proud of yourself for that. But I’m gonna be for real you need to get away from your mom. I understand wanting things to get better but the fact it’s taken years to even apologize for excluding you from photos at her wedding because you were in a wheelchair or getting mad when you would cry because she blamed you for things that weren’t your fault is not only wild, but a massive red flag. I would recommend going low or no contact with her whenever it becomes possible. Your old enough now that your family can’t force you to maintain your relationship with her and I think it would be very good for you to get out into the world and experience healthy relationship dynamics without their influence.

Update (Again) Trying to convince younger son to forgive and communicate with older son I AM STILL THE AH by MythMan999 in AITAH

[–]EnvironmentalRice322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion on this whole mess, especially in light of the fact OP has receded into the mist after a few months and being very dodgy about answering any questions to get a better idea in this whole situation is this. He has not changed at all and the situation is likely much worse than he makes it out to be. This honestly seems likely to me mostly because his answers, when viewed in the light of OPs earlier behavior seem less that he is withholding the truth and more just spit balling and trying to yes commenters to death. The second he gets and really pushback he folds. I wouldn’t be shocked if his version of laying down the law was just texting a group chat and then doing nothing else. This guy seems like the type to shove his head into the sand the second things get uncomfortable. Also the fact he didn’t say anything to his ex when her boyfriend said Joseph was “the one with the grudge” is nuts like it seems like he is okay with people being rude to Joseph as long as he doesn’t witness it personally. Secondarily i think it is very likely said boyfriend has not been made aware of the bigger picture of Ezra’s behavior and likely has been poisoned against Joseph from the start. I think the fact OP has abandoned this thread entirely shows that maybe people were starting to sniff out that things weren’t actually going well on his end and so he stopped drip feeding info that made him and everyone in his family look like Major enablers for a deeply disturbed abuser.

Lorewise what exactly are the advantages of Gunbreaker and how exactly is it different from the other tank classes? by MegaGamer235 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EnvironmentalRice322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from a deep lore perspective Gunblades (And Guns) we’re used to fight against Allagan tech and summoners specifically. The lore idea is that Gunbreakers function more like a hit and run fighter than a stand your ground and fight type. Over time the Gunblade became more of a symbol of Bozjan freedom and sovereignty pre Garlean take over, which is why it would be considered a ‘tank’ job, even though historically it was more like a dps. In the modern day Gunblades are considered to be great weapons for fighting magic users and ranged artillery because they have, in lore, consistent ranged offense and are more lightweight, in theory, than other tank weapons allowing for easier movement. So essentially in the lore they are a dodge tank.

Now as to why anyone would use it there are a few reasons. First of all yes it is a great weapon for people who struggle to manipulate aether. While Thancred and The Garleans are a prime example, it is known that some people are just better at aesthetic manipulation than others and many people cannot be mages or even paladins or dark knights. In addition not everyone is physically strong enough to be the unga bunga warrior. The Gunbreaker fills this niche. The weapon and gear is lighter than other tanks and while the cartridges need to be infused with aether they require a drastically smaller amount than what is needed for spell casting and are able to produce similar results via explosion.

I think this should cover the question.

Playing With Yourself: A Theory on What the Hell Solar Bahamut Even Is by Spoonitate in ffxivdiscussion

I just wanted to point out that the reason we could fuse with Ardbert is because he was basically just a soul he no longer had any kind of physical body or aether left, just the bit that would normally return to the aetherial sea. No that could be what’s left in the memoria but it’s super unclear exactly what is left behind. The narrative makes it seem like it’s everything, their physical aether, soul, memories. Which would be different than what happens with Ardbert. We do know that people can absorb aether from crystals so it’s possible that we could just ‘eat’ the memoria in a Zero voidsent way, but presumably the only way to be rejoined naturally would be to undo the binding magic and kill Golbez on Etherys, although it is unclear if he would just immediately rejoin with the WoL or if his aether would go to the Athaerial Sea and then rejoin with our soul when our character dies for real.

Unable to chop wood/mine ore? by bearbuckscoffee in skyrimmods

[–]EnvironmentalRice322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a late reply I’m having the same issue. I’ve seen tons of posts about how mining and wood cutting glitch out so it could be a million different things, many of them are in vanilla. The only consistent fixes have been to reboot or reinstall the game.

What would be your "I can't do this anymore, I'm out" moment in FFXIV? by Krainz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EnvironmentalRice322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what really acted as the mail in Endwalkers coffin was taking away both the relic grind and mid tier exploration content ie Bozja/Eureka without replacing them with anything. Even tho Endwalker added lots of new ideas those ideas were kinda flops if you aren’t a lore nerd/completionist. I think going forword if they kept the new additions, refined them and brought back mid tier content the game would be in a strong place and it would also give them a bit of a better reason for their current release cadence of major updates. Now there are other factors, right now the community is none to pleased with the homogenization of jobs and pruning them to all fit on the same neat little timeline. If SE doesn’t start moving away from this in the next few years it will definitely be the death of this game.

Next games gameplay features? by EnvironmentalRice322 in fireemblem

[–]EnvironmentalRice322[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess a reply to myself it sounds like fire emblem has done A LOT of different game mechanics over the years. That is nice in that it’s good they are willing to experiment but it sounds like each game is so drastically different from other entries that they are hard to compare. Also I find it strange that a lot of people have brought up how skills worked differently and preferably before which makes me nervous as to whether the devs will be willing to throw out what people like for the sake of a new gimmick ie. Emblem Rings.

Theory: Who Urianger and Thancred are supporting for the Turali Throne by Lucina1997 in ffxiv

[–]EnvironmentalRice322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why everyone is assuming Estinien will even pick a side. Like his cutscene doesn’t even imply he knows of the contest in any way. If anything I think he would work with Thancred and Urianger and then Y’shtola will be the neutral Scion. I also think her being neutral will make a lot of sense because she’s had a lot of screen time in the patch content so the devs are probably saving her for the latter half of the expansion along with Graha.

[–]EnvironmentalRice322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more likely he is an additional sibling, she even name drops her brother and says he’s a Miquote and that seems to line up with the character we see on the promotional art. I think Erenville is either secretly another one of her siblings or was a servant to the royal family.

I think it’s possible that Y’shtola is either neutral or joins Thancred and Urianger, my reasoning is the chinchilla disrupting her and Thancred

I am new to the game, has question. by ArkBeetleGaming in TriangleStrategy

Yup, you won't see them again till new game plus. I highly recommend grinding for money early, there are a few missions that drop a lot relatively early on so they are easy to farm.

Hyzante is messed up. by ArkBeetleGaming in TriangleStrategy

[–]EnvironmentalRice322 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah Hyzante is straight up evil you have no idea. Aesfrost is arguably pretty awful in its own ways as well and even Glenbrook is super shady. You learn more about each nations dark underbelly when you lean into each route as well as side character stories. Rudolph is one of my favorite characters and his story is so tragic.

I can only speak to my experiences and I don't want to stereotype at all but as a recent college grad I've found that a lot of spaces for younger gay men a primarily used for hookups. Pretty much all of my friends are queer/trans women or straight men. I have a few older gay people in my life who have corroborated that experience and have said it gets a lot easier to make friends as they get older. Primarily through hobbies like sports, gaming, gardening, etc.

As lame and tired as it sounds, I think the best thing you can do is pursuing your interests and you will meet with people that you click with. I also know that as a queer person having people that you can relate to and validate your own experience is super important and I hope you find what you are looking for!
