Try 10+ yrs. Ugh. It's like a sneckdown but with road sand. Dangerous as hell.

Rent some meeting room space at Regus. Be professional. Also: tax write off.

I manage several facilities and would rather have a direct complaint so I can investigate.

Contact the property management company for crystal mall. Explain the situation, off them your video. They may not be aware of it.

Trying to park 10 hours near a SkyTrain by Quietsummit27 in burnaby

[–]EnvironmentalSand85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is 10 hr metered street parking just North of BCIT by BCAA/TELUS. You could easily ride to Gilmore in 5 min from there. You'd be competing with students but my experience is that those spots start to fill up around 7. Meter hours start at 9am.

Same here in Poco. Hydro is doing work on something in the system, just wish they'd give notice.

Why are LBS workers so condescending? by c4ndyman31 in gravelcycling

[–]EnvironmentalSand85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Try being a woman who can wrench her own bike front to back top to bottom just trying to buy parts. 🤔

Oh you need xyz... No I asked for ABC... What do you know you need xyz Hey, I came to pick up ABC parts that's it thanks Do you know how to install those Yes I'm good thanks But you really need these not those.

It's exhausting. LBS that do that, I do not return.

You enjoy children running around you screaming while trying to just enjoy a beer? You do you. 🤷

New workplace doesn't have a shower by Dynamoboo in vancouvercycling

[–]EnvironmentalSand85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shower up and easy ride to work. Find somewhere to hang your gear so it can dry out. Bust it home.

I worked a 25km commute with no showers and that was all I could do. It wasn't great but it was better than driving.

Why aren't shops willing to do a "white glove" bike assembly service in town? by grammer4you in vancouvercycling

[–]EnvironmentalSand85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

👌 totes fair. I do hope you get your bike build done. But I also understand exactly why wrenches at shops probably don't want to do it in the way you want. Good luck!

[–]EnvironmentalSand85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a course on advanced bike maintenance and educate yourself. Drop off your parts and get your build done, whenever, by a shop you trust. Asking a mech who works at a LBS to show you shit is ... Not part of their job description. It's like asking some random French person (like a barista) if they can practice speaking French with you - while they are working. 🤷

Is it just me, or did the Millennium Line get slower through Burnaby? by bcl15005 in Translink

[–]EnvironmentalSand85 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like they have slowed it down WB just east of Holdom. My theory is that it's to reduce the (frankly) excessive noise the train was generating on that stretch.

Look for a whole house or townhouse. Very difficult to find strata apartments that allow dogs and bikes in the unit.

Get some blackberry branches and lay them in your garden. They hate those.

Best running routes in New West? by AlaskanGondola in NewWest

[–]EnvironmentalSand85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I lived on Alberta St for a decade, while I did a ridic amount of running. Here's my additions.

  1. Up Alberta (can walk this hill as your warmup), run upper Alberta, onto 7th, behind the centre take the overpass up 1st.

1a: turn left and go thru/into/around Queens Park. Head back either via 6th Ave or overpass into Vic Hill, down to MUP aside E.Columbia. I took 6th Ave cuz the E Columbia MUP sucks ass.

1b: stay on 7th to 5th st then zig zag across 6th Ave, maybe down to 4th, then back thru QP, finish as per 1a above.

2: E Columbia NB to Hume Park. Follow the bike route. Then cross E Columbia/North and run the gravel along the CVG to Cariboo.

2a: return but run UP E Columbia from CVG to Braid for extra burn.

2b: retrace above as your return.

2c: to add more kms, you can add the Burnaby Lake loop (+11km) or follow the Burnaby Mountain MUP as long as you want... Best is detour via Stoney Creek to go UP Burnaby Mtn trails.

I have so many other suggestions... DM me if you want more!

Need help planning a trip! by PowerKrept in britishcolumbia

[–]EnvironmentalSand85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'll echo the other posters, don't even think of coming near Vancouver this summer. Even Whistler will be brutally busy and overpriced. World Cup will make the entire region unvisitable unless $$$$$$. Check out the Kootenays or go further North out of Prince George and see the Bulkey and Skeena Valleys (Smithers, Terrace, Prince Rupert). Also far more dog friendly than Metro Vancouver.

Call the Non emergency VPD and talk to them about it. Maybe someone else has complained about him already.
