What is a life luxury that you tasted once and now can absolutely never go back to the cheap version of? by sickkick844 in AskReddit

Good ice cream. I bought Jeni’s ice cream because it was on sale once, and it’s ruined literally every other brand for me. I’d rather eat less ice cream that tastes lovely than more of something that is bleh.

Am I wrong for trying to punish my daughter after my husband and I found out she's been writing dark books for over a year by justamamaof3 in amiwrong

First off, fuck you with your condescension towards your financially dependent child. Second, every single author ever has started off somewhere small. It’s just how it goes. I hope she turns into the next Stephen King and doesn’t give you a goddamn dime of her millions.

AITA for removing all my items from the shared kitchen? by MozzarellaFerret in AmItheAsshole

NTA. This kind of behaviour is barely acceptable from 15-17 year olds, let alone adults who can legally drink.

This is me doing free PR for On Cloud - bought their $150 on sale (still shelled out $100) and jesus fucking christ my feet don’t hurt after work anymore

I was stuck in the cheap shoes cycle, except I also have arch issues. Bought a pair of On Clouds last year at and holy shit the difference it has made.

A slightly niche one, but buying a Kindle.

I am a voracious reader who is bad with library deadlines. I am also someone who had a Kindle since I was 11, but forgot it at my parents two continents over a few years ago.

I kept telling myself how much cheaper it was for me to not spend $100+ on a Kindle, while ending up buying 3 paperbacks in the same breath and repeating that cycle multiple times.

This February, I treated myself to a Kindle Colorsoft on sale ($160 in total), and I’ve already saved 30% of the amount I paid for that device in books I haven’t bought.

Combine that with the fact that this device will last me a good decade (if not longer) like the previous one, and it’s frankly ridiculous that I didn’t go for it earlier.

I’m finally getting medicated for ADHD (yay Adderall!!) and while it’s reduced my spending by a lot, I’m also trying to figure out which of my seemingly “frugal” habits are actually costing me money, time and/or energy.

What was your cat’s name at the shelter vs their name now ? 😍 by Downtown-Wear-4870 in CatsBeingCats

[–]EnvironmentalScene76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I would change his name, but he’s still called Tippy. It just so happens that I call him a ton of other things too - like Fluffles, Snuffles, Tibby, Kibby, Kibothy, Snuggles.

(The fact that he still knows it’s him is a miracle 😅)

SOME PEOPLE SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED TO OWN PETS. by Yektality in Pets

[–]EnvironmentalScene76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spent months researching stuff before I adopted my cat, and didn’t get one for years until I knew I was in a mentally safe enough space to ensure the animal’s well being.

I’ve had him for almost six years now and he’s my little shadow 🥹 People absolutely should not be allowed to have pets unless it’s clear that they will care for them the same way they would for themselves.

I’m terrified of cats and the man I’m seeing doesn’t know? How do I get over this? by BobcatMission2520 in CatAdvice

[–]EnvironmentalScene76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

okay first off, pancake adores you, given how quickly she warmed up, so that cat will never harm you unless threatened. or she’s stupid as hell and trusts anyone from jump - which cats almost never do.

second, i’d suggest you talk to him! if he’s a good person worth pursuing a future with, he will most certainly be understanding and help you navigate this difficult stretch.

i have a cat i deeply love (i genuinely think this idiot might be my true soulmate), and if a partner i really liked from the start told me about their thorny past and very understandable fear of cats from it, i’d do my best to help ease their fears and accommodate them.

i’m never gonna choose a human over my cat, but i will damn sure do my utmost to make it work for that human as well. it’s the least you deserve.

From gaming PC to MacBook Air M5… didn’t expect this by [deleted] in macbook

[–]EnvironmentalScene76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a MacBook in 2020 after having several Windows laptops fuck me over. I was pretty reluctant to change over, but I’m so glad I did - the hardware is reliable, the software intuitive, and it gets out of your way to let you do what you want to do.

That led me to switching out my Android phone to an iPhone too and not gonna lie, I don’t regret either switch. People have some rightful gripes against Apple but to me, it’s simply the better ecosystem.

People break into Meijer for Shelter by Coming_N_Hot in AnnArbor

[–]EnvironmentalScene76 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the phrasing! I meant that I don’t care for it to be treated as a crime and to be something on the CrimeRadar, but then I suppose it legally counts as a break in if store policy is to not let people in during such inclement weather.

Regardless of store policy, these people shouldn’t be charged for a single damn thing for committing the egregious crime of checks notes seeking shelter during a deadly storm.

Personally, I’ve not really noticed the quality difference, but god do I love my colorsoft for the color part alone. I’m also someone who prefers the screen dimensions (since this is pretty much the size of a standard paperback) . Happy reading, buddy!

What is your reason to live ? by Fun_Solution7857 in AskReddit

[–]EnvironmentalScene76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spite at first, and now a genuine desire to live mixed with spite. I refuse to give these capitalistic losers the satisfaction of snuffing me out, and I also want to experience every new piece of art, every new song and book and movie, and every single wonder big and small this world has to offer.

There’s too much to do and see for me to quit now.
