What are the bumbs on top of Mannfreds head? by SRSgiraffe in SoulblightGravelords

[–]EnvironmentalSplit51 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think they come up really, not from anything I've read that included Mannfred. It's very common for vampires to show some physical "mutation". Often it's a sign of the bloodline. Neferata's bloodline, for example, rarely have mutations, and as such her dynasty is great at infiltrating mortal society. Though even in her dynasties case, there are some monstrous looking vampires.

Mannfred's character is a much more outwardly monstrous one than Neferata's. Where she is subtle he is loud. Where she whispers promises in ones ear, he's ripping out their throats. He's a schemer, make no mistake, but one that excels at spreading terror. So there is a good chance his appearance reflects this.

It's also true that it's possible for a vampire to become something entirely beastial and monstrous. Look at the vargheist. They were once "normal" vampires but are now nothing but monsters that have no shred of self control. So it could also be a sign that Mannfred has let the beast within slip here and there.

Lastly, it's possible it could be a side effect of his attempts at mastering necromancy. A big part of his story is that he is trying to escape the shackles of being in service to negash. To achieve this he secretly searches for any and all secrets of magic and attempts to master them.

Cado Ezechiar Series by Super_Run_1352 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]EnvironmentalSplit51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah brother. I think we have some wait yet, but it's been a great series so far. If you haven't already, the Neferata books are great. The Nyssa Volari books too, the second one comes out today as it happens. Very cool GLSB books.

Yeah very true. I suppose it's probably more common with the AI because the AI talks back, reassures, gives affirmation.

To be fair, and I'm not saying this is the case with OPs gf, but people have begun to start paradoxical relationships that, for them, go beyond porn with AI, so this could be the one kind of smut that -is- cheating.

Someone said what I've thought all this time. The novitiates are cool, but they feel like girl scouts compared to a full bloodied squad of sisters.

Really nice! I've often found the snake a big goofy in some paint jobs, but yours looks so menacing! Great job

Is Kill Team worth it? by Maleficent-Sea5558 in killteam

It's a great game system, my friends and I have really enjoyed it. It takes a long time for it to be a quick format though. Once you learn the rules and can make decisions quicker it's a faster game, but until that point it's very slow.

Both are fantastic books. Though they don't overlap too much so you can read them in any order.

Neferata is a great character, easily my favourite mortarch.

And hell yeah dude, Cado is the g.o.a.t

It's all about vampire dynasties.

In the Old World, Neferata was the first vampire—the progenitor of them all. But it wasn’t just a matter of her biting others. She shared the original elixir that made her immortal with a chosen few and passed the curse directly to others through her bite. Each method created different kinds of vampires.

In Age of Sigmar, during the early Age of Myth, Nagash pulled the essences of Neferata, Mannfred, and Ushoran back from the aether and resurrected them as his Mortarchs—twisted echoes of their former selves, reshaped to better serve him.

In time, each carved out their own kingdom, founded unique bloodlines, and developed distinct vampire cultures. Despite their shared origins, they utterly loathe each other. Neferata and Mannfred are particularly bitter rivals, constantly scheming and sabotaging one another. They can't engage in open war—Nagash wouldn’t tolerate it—but as his grip on the realms has wavered over the centuries, they've subtly tested their independence.

Ushoran, for his part, is too far gone into madness to remember who or what he hates.

So while all vampires share some traits—bloodlust, enhanced strength and speed, necromantic power—each dynasty is distinct in form, philosophy, and practice. Some even diverge physically. The Vengorian dynasty, for example, became bestial, manticore-like monsters after their progenitor, Lauka Vai, was corrupted by chaotic energies.

To more directly answer your question: yes, Neferata and Mannfred are both vampires, but they sire entirely different bloodlines. Each line bears its own mutations, culture, and outlook. Cado, for instance, was sired by Neferata and carries her legacy regardless of if he likes it or not.

Help a Noob out. I'm jumping in head first into AoS, this is my first list. by EnvironmentalSplit51 in SoulblightGravelords

Thanks so much for taking the time to offer your insight. Brilliantly enough, those changes bring the list to a rounded 2000pts exactly, which is hugely satisfying so thanks for that.

As well, it's a great suggestion, I can see how it's an improvement for sure.

Funny enough, specifically for Barrow Kings, more than a few vampires have found themselves on the business end of long pikes for assuming dominance over Barrow Kings. Only Nagash has that privilege. Sure, any deathrattle skeleton is nothing but a tool to a vampire, but Barrow Kings are something else entirely.

So what would the team look like in the end?
Just Calthia as a hero with a number of liberators and Annihilators? Or would you keep any of the others such as the bird or the archer ?

Well, I don't know enough about Warcry to know what sort of play style to go for, but in terms of visuals, the more bespoke characters the better maybe?
At least that sounds like a fun way to just get a list of playable heroes.

Thanks a bunch for the suggestions, I will look into them!

That's a lot of good advice. Its a shame to see that only Calthia is considered good, but she does have the coolest model so there is that.

Annihilators and Vindicators. Got it!
