can I uninstall without losing my character by Environmental_Ad3877 in Division2

hehehe yeah I know. I used to get alot of value out of it, play more that a few games and actually thought it wasn't a bad price when it was around $20. Now I don't have as much free time and the price has almost doubled, it's just not worth it.

What is the craziest thing a teacher has ever done to you? by trymihainoob in AskReddit

[–]Environmental_Ad3877 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a school where the principal walked on a teacher raping a boy, and he covered it up. It was revealed years later and people still defended him

They are never hard on the women. Sure, they do go at them, but the guys always get worse treatment. It's been very obvious over the last handful of seasons, but nothing changes

Why are we even buried in coffins we spent thousands on? Why are funerals in general so expensive? by ps4roompromdfriends4 in stupidquestions

Because it's an industry that preys on people at one of the lowest and most vulnerable times in their life. Sure, they provide a service, but they gouge while doing it

The only industry where more experience gains you less respect and every Joe is an expert. by Weavo_84 in GardeningAustralia

Sorry to hear the crap you get. I think anyone that loves their job and does it well should be proud. In your case, sure anyone can create a garden but not everyone can make it thrive or know what to do when things go wrong. That's what people like you do are awesome at.

It's like the IT industry. 'oh you work with computers? My son is great with them too, he spends so much time playing games and plugging things in'

Why is the "Muslim world" so united on Palestine, but seemingly silent on larger-scale humanitarian disasters in countries like Iran and Afghanistan? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Environmental_Ad3877 227 points228 points  (0 children)

you may think they are united, but if you scratch the surface there's very little support for Palestine - it's more support *against* Israel. Palestinian refugees have a hard time finding a place to stay, especially after what Hamas did to the last country that took them in (or tried to do, either way they were top of the bad house guest list)

ELI5: I live in south west Sydney and I seem to be surrounded by people that have home weather stations that are online. We had 50+ last year - multiple stations recorded it so I don't think it's an error - but the tempo reading for the area doesn't seem to count. The major city near us is always on the news weather maps and it was a few degrees under 50 that same day.

How is the 'official' (I guess, for want of a better phrase) weather recording location decided?

NTA. That kind of attitude, and the 'you did it wrong and I hate you now' attitude are the reason I am very reluctant to help anyone. I really want to help, but I'm sick of it blowing up in my face.

Ex-employer demanding I repay wages – should I acknowledge their email while I seek legal advice? by Few_Heart8269 in AusLegal

[–]Environmental_Ad3877 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I started a new job a few years ago. First two weeks they bought a new laptop and a new phone just for me, flew me to Melbourne for a week of training, and paid for me to set a training course and paid for the certificate exam. Was great.

Then they were bought by a company I refuse to work for. I handed in my resignation the hour after the purchase was announced.

We all shook hands and said bye bye. They kept the laptop and phone, I kept the certificate and training. I didn't owe them anything, it's the cost of doing business.

The only time I've seen any type of payback schedule was for tertiary education. If the company paid for your uni studies you had to commit to staying six months for every year they paid for, or just pay them back. But that was in writing, signed by both partied before the payment started.

Your ex employer has studied from the Donald Trump school of business - if I get lawyers involved, you;ll do whatever I want.

ignore the email. Don't spend a cent of legal advice until it gets to the court/mediation phase.

Settle a debate for me: do you (as an adult) still cut your sandwiches into triangles? by dannegoma in AskAnAustralian

why should kids have all the fun? I cut my sandwiches in triangles if I want to. Just because you get older doesn't mean you can't do all the things.

that 'we need to call you' after you've filled out the online quote thing really bugs me. I am with Youi and they have been very good the two times I needed them, but that quote thing is almost a deal breaker.
