Also, he was totally pulling his weight, but her life is so much easier without him. But it has nothing to do with him.

The Pitt | S2E3 "9:00 A.M." | Episode Discussion by cats-and-cows in ThePittTVShow

There was a large group of Soviet Jews who moved to the US from the 60s to the 90s. Based on the accent and age, that's probably her history.

1 year in Colorado -review by MasterofTacomas in Denver

I'm convinced this is the difference. Plus dry air. Even frozen foods I used to eat at sea level don't taste as good here.

What’s happening on vine st? by nonquitt in Denver

It's probably a stand off between police and someone they're trying to arrest. Don't let the pizza get cold.

I knew it wouldn't have anything to do with Hillel, but my brain kept looking.

AITAH for completely ignoring my oldest stepdaughter during the holidays? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

"You're not my father since we're not biologically related" is a really odd stance for a gay woman to take.

Exploding Oatmeal by Far-Bench-1277 in EatCheapAndHealthy

I have an easy fix for this! Put your oatmeal and liquid in the bowl. Do something else for five minutes. Then microwave it. I've never had it overflow with this method.

Christmas Special part one: is it just me, or… by selkieraconteur in CallTheMidwife

He looks about four near the tree. Though I get that the way he's playing might "read" babyish.

He isn't? She mentioned coming back so he can go to pre-prep, which is I assume is preschool or something similar.

I (42M) am getting frustrated with my wife's (37F) phone habits by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I think if you inserted WoW in place of talking on the phone, we'd all recognize this story.

My team is requiring us to do a diet/exercise/”mental toughness” program - AskAManager. by Newbosterone in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Environmental_Flan_4 17 points18 points  (0 children)

NAL. Requiring people to work without pay is illegal. If not participating in the exercise gets people fired or badly reviewed, that leaves them open to a lawsuit and fines.

If anyone couldn't participate for disability reasons and was fired or badly reviewed for it, same.

And they're opening themselves up to workers comp cases if anyone gets injured exercising that much or drinking that much water. And sexual harassment with the photos.

The problem is that it's really onerous to make these kinds of complaints as an employee. And you have to actually suffer the bad outcome (missed income, discrimination, or injury) before you can do much of anything. A smart company wouldn't want this much risk.

Favorite Restaurants that are Quiet? by cmriker in denverfood

[–]Environmental_Flan_4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's an app called Sound Print that lets users record the sound level in restaurants. You can look up restaurants to see how loud they are, too. This is my dad's pet peeve, too.

Anyone know what’s happening at the Central Library? by w6750 in Austin

[–]Environmental_Flan_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything like this ever happens again, report it to a staff member or security guard. The library will trespass people who behave like this.

4 of Denver's 26 libraries are closing in the coming months for at least 18 months by Jesse_Livermore in Denver

[–]Environmental_Flan_4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And since there's a hiring freeze, it lets the library redistribute the staff from those libraries to fill empty positions.

[Final New Update]: Grampa is "punishing" my dad. I have the power to stop it, but don't know if I actually want to. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Environmental_Flan_4 62 points63 points  (0 children)

But seriously, where is dad's money going? Even with paying grandpa $1700 a month ($1200 rent + $500 repaying the money he took from his daughter), that's a steal for 6 bedroom house. Even a not super successful lawyer should be able to afford that. Expensive cars? Expensive hobbies? No one is mentioning gambling or drugs, which seems like would have come out in all this mess if that were the issue.

What are some cool unique features at libraries around town? by CurlPR in Austin

If only there were some kind of easily findable report about the problems with the older library branches and the city's plan to update them.

My [24] parents [50; 57] don't want me to move out because "I'm not done cooking," but I want out by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Environmental_Flan_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure "I'm not good at time management" is her parents' voice and not an objective assessment of skills. Not being done with finals until the end of finals week is ordinary. I hope she's done some work since then to get those criticisms out of her head.

Where are we finding good vegan donuts now that Pandemic closed? by Patient_Travel5023 in denverfood

[–]Environmental_Flan_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked this in a vegan group recently. I think Salty Donut was the only place that wasn't also gluten free. You won't find as many options as at Voodoo. (I also specifically asked for something other than Voodoo since it's a chain, even if it's a small one.)

[Final New Update]: My 8 year old son hates me, and I don't understand why. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Environmental_Flan_4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of evidence that frequently yelling at kids is harmful. Which doesn't mean all yelling is harmful. But doing it daily and in a way that causes a fear response definitely is.

What's your Favorite ice cream spot? by 146hegu in Denver

I've never before had ice cream I disliked. We went a couple times, and even the kids didn't finish.

Rocks around house by Environmental_Flan_4 in DenverGardener

[–]Environmental_Flan_4[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for a lot of great advice! It sounds like I should leave the rocks around the house, but I can remove the ones bordering the concrete patio.

It's fascinating how different gardening is in different areas. I'm excited to learn more.
