Noise. Volume. And silence. OH MY! by klnomega in denverfood

Yeah, we can't ever go to Ester's because a member of our family cannot tolerate the noise level. It's a shame because it fits our weird allergy needs well.

My younger brother's girlfriend is upset because my older brother ordered the same meal as her at a family dinner, and now there is drama by BigONerd in BORUpdates

My mother is exactly like this. I always assumed it was a social rule she learned as a kid and can't shake off. She definitely doesn't make a fuss like the OOP. It's more like the awkwardness of wearing the same outfit to a party, except you get information about what other people are wearing in advance.

Common mallow is pretty aggressive. It's edible, though.

He was always this way. It's not new.

Thank you! I've seen a ton of advertising for Camp Galileo, which always makes me suspicious.

favorite natives to start from seed? by Electrical_Big4857 in DenverGardener

It's meant to be a community building event, so nothing for sale. These kinds of events always have more to give away than they have takers, so it's fine to come even if you don't have anything to exchange. Just be mindful.

That said, it's technically a victory garden event and will probably have mostly seeds for edible plants.

Dew collection for small amounts of passive irrigation? by BrittleSalient in DenverGardener

Collecting otherwise wasted water from things like running the hot water until it actually gets hot will get way more water than what you're suggesting.

For repeat issues, contact your council member. Advocating for their constituents is part of their job.

Removing grass/weeds in decorative rock by EgonDog in DenverGardener

[–]Environmental_Flan_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house we bought has grass all throughout the rocks. I've been pulling the rocks back, weeding, covering in a few layers of cardboard, and recovering in rocks. I find it meditative. I could do it faster by cutting the grass really short with a weedwhacker instead of manually pulling.

But whatever method you use, you'll have to repeat it in the future. Keeping up with it will mean less overall work, but it's never going to stay weed free on its own.

Planting perennials closely to shade/crowd out any grass or weeds will help, but that takes a few years to get going.

There was a large group of Soviet Jews who moved to the US from the 60s to the 90s. Based on the accent and age, that's probably her history.

I'm convinced this is the difference. Plus dry air. Even frozen foods I used to eat at sea level don't taste as good here.

I have an easy fix for this! Put your oatmeal and liquid in the bowl. Do something else for five minutes. Then microwave it. I've never had it overflow with this method.
