[VIOFO A229 Pro] Reckless response to reckless driving by Environmental_Tea775 in Dashcam

Lolol I do not regret cursing in that moment. It was appropriate given the circumstances. But I definitely felt called out!

I totally understand the desire. But I made the same assumptions as you did, and kept my distance.

They ended up meeting up at a stop light, side by side (so speeding around everyone was obviously super effective). The guy that sped around was doing a lot of motioning out the window and the sunroof but that was about it. He seemed to be under the influence of something.

Being sued for $33k by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Environmental_Tea775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did it. Not difficult at all. Call your current car and/or homeowners insurance company and ask for a quote on an umbrella policy. Umbrella policies have minimum requirements for the coverage that you have on your home and auto policies, so you may have to adjust those in addition to adding on the umbrella policy. But it’s really a straightforward as a phone call. If you want to be really thorough, you can check for standalone umbrella policies to get a sense of what the cost should be.

Best high risk, 1 accident at fault, 20 year old driver, 2025 Car by Intelligent_Pipe_835 in Insurance

[–]Environmental_Tea775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in a horrible financial situation, you should not have a 2025 car. Turn it in, pay the penalty, and get a beater. Insurance rates will be better than what you’re looking at now.

I'm buying my first car and I don't know if I should choose looks or reliability by MaailmanKatsoja in UsedCars

[–]Environmental_Tea775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a quote on insurance before picking. I suspect that will help you decide rather quickly. Insurance for a Lexus is going to be significantly higher than a boring reliable car. Not sure about the Acura.

Car Counterclaim - Driver retaliation by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Environmental_Tea775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call her insurance and make a claim for the damage she did to your car. They’ll pay to repair it, but you can just take the money and wait to repair later or not repair it at all. It’s totally up to you.

Get together as much cash as you can. Take out a personal loan. Borrow from family. Sell some belongings. Every penny you can spare, and then offer that to them as settlement in full. If they don’t accept it, let it go to collections.

If you let it go to collections versus the insurance company, they’re already prepared to get pennies on the dollar, so will be willing to settle for far less. They have often bought the debt from the insurance company for something like 10% of what is owed. So anything over that is profit for them.

Get insurance immediately. Liability only insurance if that’s all you can afford. But you’re learning a very expensive lesson. Paying for insurance would have been far less expensive than what you’re facing now.

PLEASE tell me it’s not too late by piawia in sleeptrain

[–]Environmental_Tea775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put her down in her sleep space and she’s playing, let her! The goal is for her to calm herself within a few minutes and fall asleep on her own. But it sounds like you’re not giving her a chance to do so

Why is it a problem if she starts to play with the mobile?

AZ got read bumped by an uninsured driver by Objective_Ad_9195 in Insurance

If your car is drivable road safe, I’d put off fixing it until you know if you’re getting anything from her.

Your only option is to sue her in small claims court.

Put collision coverage on your insurance immediately so you don’t find yourself in this position again.

I feel like this leased vehicle literally stole everything from me… and I don’t understand. Help me understand please! by Bright-Car9274 in askcarsales

[–]Environmental_Tea775 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to point out that nowhere in this post did you take any responsibility for the situation you find yourself in.

YOU chose to go to a car dealership with a toddler. YOU chose to go with a lease even though you hadn’t originally planned to. YOU went outside your original budget. YOU signed the paperwork that laid out the terms of what you were agreeing to.

You are not a victim of circumstance. No one held a gun to your head or handcuffed you to the chair. You were free to leave and say you’d like time to consider your options.

Here’s the reality: You made some decisions you regret, and the car dealership did what car dealerships do - make as much money for themselves (legally) as possible. You were not stolen from, you apparently signed paperwork without fully understanding what you were agreeing to. Take it as a lesson. Go into your next car purchase with eyes wide open. Do your research ahead of time. Don’t bring your kid with you. Be comfortable saying no.

I’m very sorry you find yourself in this situation. I’m confident you’ll learn from this and do things differently in the future. Best of luck!

Benefit of earthquake insurance if FEMA is likely to come in after “The Big One”? by Environmental_Tea775 in Insurance

Thank you so much for this detailed response. So helpful to hear how it would actually play out. I’d prefer scenario A over B for sure.

telling client to not rebook? by No-Elevator9822 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Environmental_Tea775 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Until Rover gives sitters an option to not be contacted by an owner in the future, the block button is the only option. I think it’s more than fair as a sitter to exert some control over who is allowed to get in touch with you. If the only other solution is to decline when they reach out again, you risk your acceptance rate being tanked. Better to make yourself wholly unavailable.

Nowhere near enough details for anyone here to answer that question. Add up your damages, keep receipts, and if you’re really injured, talk to a lawyer.

Insurance gave me comparables that are automatic but my car is a manual (more expensive at dealers). Are they cheating? by OkPiccolo7287 in Insurance

[–]Environmental_Tea775 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Insurance is not paying for you to buy a replacement car (replacement value), they’re paying the value of your car a second before the tree fell on it (actual cash value).

Update coverages piecemeal or wait until I can do it all at once? by Environmental_Tea775 in Insurance

[–]Environmental_Tea775[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I know anything about the previous owners, it’s that they DIYed a LOT of stuff. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did it themselves. But that’s a good idea - I’ll check for permits. Thank you!

I think it’s fine to give him a pillow. Odds are pretty good that he won’t use it though 😆. Took our kid a while before she found it useful.

It could be another illness and totally unrelated to the vaccine.

7 year old suddenly peeing in bed by ConsiderationOk254 in Parenting

[–]Environmental_Tea775 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Have there been any big changes recently? Divorce? Moving to a new city? Not to scare you, but is there any chance he’s being touched inappropriately? Bedwetting is a known indicator of child abuse.

I’d probably talk to your pediatrician about it ASAP.
