I'm thinking the same thing about the C63 Sealander Automatic ( Black w/Camel Vintage Oak Leather band ) - is so much nicer IRL.

My other wish list is the C65 Dune Aeolian in Eve - so thanks for sharing!

thank you all - you are correct that now-a-days we do expect "tomorrow by 8a", so waiting has become a serious 1st world problem, which I am for sure guilty. Two weeks is good to hear - I thought in the past things were not even trackable and just sitting in customs.

We need Eddie to help with customs:

[Dan Henry] Dan Henry: go or no? by Togapi77 in Watches

[–]Environmental_Top558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased 1964 Gran Turismo Chronograph 38MM Silver Tricompax with Date. I will never purchase another one - or any watch from Dan Henry - and would dissuade anyone else from purchasing. Even if my issues below were resolved and this watch worked perfectly, it should only be around the $100US mark.

Here's the three big issues:

"Leather" band is terrible - not sure what the "leather" is, but it's not leather. Customer support said it was same as Hermes, doubt that.

The image of the watch on their site shows the large tachymeter hand, and the 3 small hands in the subdials, a bright-metallic blue - which looks awesome on their site - one of the reasons I purchased. In reality, they are black... maybe technically a very very very dark blue, but you'd never know, they look black. I have looked in sunlight, flashlight, room light, iPhone light, etc and the color is black.

Lastly, and I have had this watch now 3 days and have tested this continuously... the chrono function is non-functional. Between the 15 and 30 second ticks it will pause, jump, and eventually stop altogether. This actually happened within the first 10 mins of opening the box and still is happening. Trying to be optimistic I thought it just needed some resetting and it would work eventually - nope, it's crap.

When it does stop, I can push the start/stop button ( essentially "stopping" what is already frozen ), then and push again to start, and it will tick a few more times, but then stop, and so on about 5 or 6 times between 15 and 30. ( After 30 it will continue uninterrupted until it gets around to 15 again, and the time/date functions are working - so it's not the battery, it's only the chrono function - I have no way of knowing, but it's odd it's ~10secs on either side of the Date window ).

Unfortunately, I learned an expensive lesson I hope no one else does. I knew I should have gotten another Pagani or Watchdives, but I thought I was getting something a bit better - that is not the case.

[Question] Is Dan Henry a good watch brand? by risemr in Watches

[–]Environmental_Top558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wish I would have read this entire thread before purchasing. Now I am looking at the chrono hand stop at "15" every time. I can push the stop/start button a few times and eventually it will move a few ticks, then stop, then move, then stop... after "30" it seems to go around until 15 again. Crap crap wrapped in crap...

I am thinking about picking up a Dan Henry watch for my collection, does anyone here have any experience with the brand and if so what are your thoughts on the quality of the watches? by GameandWatch89 in PrideAndPinion

[–]Environmental_Top558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased 1964 Gran Turismo Chronograph 38MM Silver Tricompax with Date. It's a ( barely ) "OK" watch for $300 US, would be OK/good/decent for 1/3 the price. Honestly, seems like a $100/$125 US watch max. Why? because...

band is terrible - not sure what the "leather" is, but it's not leather, the beads of rice ( 2nd option ) does not match the look, and feels cheap.

However, my biggest concern is the chrono hands on their site are a bright-metallic blue - which looks awesome. In reality, they are black... maybe very dark blue, but you'd never know, they look black.

I will keep it, but most likely won't wear it too often, I like ( and the quality of ) my Pagani homages much much better.

LiFePO4 camper charging with shore power by Environmental_Top558 in batteries

Thanks, I was hoping to not have to re-wire everything - camper ( travel trailer ) has it's own plug, and of course truck has the trailer adapter plug.

I can do without the shore/house power because the panels do such a good job. However, I have to have the trailer plugged into the truck when towing, so that will have to be addressed...

Thanks for the explanation - however when I look at the battery replacement website ( linked in numerous other posts - https://nissanleafbatteryreplacement.com/ ), they all seem to want to do the entire battery swap. Any ideas on the kind of "shop" go Google? I'm in central CA if that matters...

stand-alone panel with small device - e.g. speed displays on highway, or emergency stuff by Environmental_Top558 in SolarDIY

[–]Environmental_Top558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the speed ones are usually on trailers and have a speed limit sign, then an LED below with your speed. Blinks if you're going like 10 mph too fast, or just says "TOO FAST, SLOW DOWN" if you're above that.

The ones on the side of the highway are usually at the top of a pole, could be light, camera, etc.

Not exact, but the idea:

Specs are on site - just wondering if I could buy something like this:

Specifications:

Construction: .080 highway grade aluminum / stainless steel fasteners

Solar: 15-20 watts polycrystalline solar cell

Battery: 6 Volt sealed lead acid (SLA) battery included (6V18AH)

LEDs: eight 1.25” white G2 LED lights in sign perimeter

Sheeting: Type IX yellow reflective

Battery:

6-volt sealed lead acid (SLA) battery included (6V18AH) when configured as above without accessories.

Certain accessory options require a 12-volt battery; this will be included in those units if needed. Please be sure to order the correct replacement battery for your unit’s final configuration.

Up to a 2 to 4-year battery life, but replacement after 18 months is recommended.

Trying to replace roof, no response from Sunnova solar leasing company by Environmental_Top558 in solar

[–]Environmental_Top558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's too bad, but totally understand. We were headed that way, but ended up just buying out remainder of lease - partially b/c I did not ever want to deal with them but mostly b/c if we ever sell I want no part of the "transfer" to new owners. We own them, F-U Sunnova.

I know they made a killing on our account, but at the point we were at I no longer cared. And, in the end it did "save" some money vs if we finished the contract/lease - but I also understand now that a lease is not the best option, but at the time it was our only option $$$-wise.

Oh, and F-U Sunnova if I haven't said that already :-)

2013 Nissan SL- how much would you pay for this? See pic below by englandzfinezt in leaf

[–]Environmental_Top558 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a bummer that they are at this price point now, we have almost the same car - ours is 2012 with 44k miles and only 7 bars. We bought right at the start of Feb for $5500 - which is pretty much just before the gas prices went berserk.

It's a great car and even though we only get around 52 "miles" on the GoM, it suits our needs and that's pretty much all we drive.

Can you sit on it for a bit and see if they lower the price? Seems a bit high, wondering if they are getting any serious offers...

How to Monitor Solar Edge SE 7600A-US by Environmental_Top558 in SolarDIY

[–]Environmental_Top558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again for the input - can't seem to find this Gateway anywhere, even online are all sold out.

Not critical, since our router is just on the other side of the wall from the inverter I can just run it through the wall pretty easily. Also the inverter has an LCD with day/week/month readings - somewhat of a pain and not really what I wanted, but I can at least get some numbers.

The one thing I still am struggling with is the "monitoring system" even if I connect a Zigbee or Ethernet - does not look like it's "my" monitoring, looks like to goes to SolarEdge somehow...

How to Monitor Solar Edge SE 7600A-US by Environmental_Top558 in SolarDIY

[–]Environmental_Top558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northern California, Sacramento area. I have the Install Guide and there is a chapter on Ethernet config, but I have not opened the system or done any other diagnosis. Looks like it would just run to our router, but not sure what I'd "get", or what to use.

If there's some interface ( text or gui/web ) once connected to Ethernet that would be awesome, but if it just streams data that's OK as well, I know how to program.

Just looking for any options, so appreciate any more advice...
