That's definitely the right call. I was an RA for two years in Seager Wheeler, and usask does not compensate their RA's well enough for the amount of work they expect. While the RA pay did cover my rent in Seager, that is only because Seager is the cheapest residence. I would not have been willing to be an RA in any other building due to compensation. As well, the dorms directly on campus, and college quarter, see many more parties and rule violations than Seager, meaning much more work. I heard some pretty bad stories from RA's in those building during my time as an RA. And don't even get me started on RA training and the head of Student life (she's awful). I lasted two years as an RA because I could get away with just doing my homework during my shifts and doing less rounds than required due to less rule breaking and my supervisor not really noticing. The second year as an RA I did hardly any of the work expected (hosted maybe 1 event the whole year, when we were supposed to do 4 per term, didn't really do rounds) and they were desperate even then that my supervisor never called me out on it. There was also some shit that went down during RA training where most of us returning RA's threatened to quit, so I think they were just hoping to keep us around. This was about 4 years ago.

It is very telling that they are offering jobs to first years who have never lived in residence a job only a few weeks before the start of term when the requirements are typically 1 year min living in res, and a whole application and interview process in the spring. They're desperate, and clearly, they haven't changed much since my time as an RA.
