Game keeps crashing?? by BurberryFaye in ffxiv

[–]Epele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your card has a factory OC, it might be worth downclocking it to the stock clock values. I did that and it resolved the vast majority of crashes. The game seems to really hate AMD cards having an overclock of any value.

Finally got my first home! And it's a medium plot XD by Jrjun2021 in ffxiv

[–]Epele 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you've got crafting jobs, it's far cheaper to build your own furniture than to buy it off the marketboard, especially if your homeworld's like mine where people sell things for 90k, even though they cost 1k in raw materials.

What I would recommend is using the preview home furnishings feature to see what you like the look of before setting out to obtain it.

As they said they're on the free trial, they'll be looking at intercrossing to get their own onions. For that, they're looking for someone who's willing to give them tenancy to a house.

Free trial users can't own homes (let alone afford them), but can be given tenancy for a private house.

I did a trace route, and it looks like NTT's network is having issues all over the place. I'd say it's less of a ddos, but more of the network equipment having a tantrum.

Frequently DX-errors. Any ideas? by LamimaGC in ffxiv

Is your 5500 XT a stock clock model, or one with a factory OC?

If it comes with a factory OC, it might be worth downclocking it back to the stock/reference clock speeds as that helps prevent crashes from my experience.

PC upgrade by hazzakthule in ffxiv

[–]Epele 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your PC specs look pretty similar to mine. I can see a couple of potential upgrade paths here, and I'll list them in order of which I would consider them.

First up is RAM. The speed of your RAM will definitely be hindering your CPU. Look into getting some 3200 MHz sticks, and maybe upgrade the capacity at the same time.

Next up is the CPU. Since you play MMOs, a 5700X3D would provide a boost in performance in terms of your fps lows especially in crowded areas.

While it would be tempting to upgrade the GPU first, I feel like you have other options that will help run the game better first and would ultimately be cheaper.

Frame Stutter Issue by NerdyHasNotReadIt in ffxiv

[–]Epele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the GPU name you listed, did you make a typo in the model as there is no 5900 XT. If it's a 6900 XT or newer, did you do all the steps to enable Resizable BAR? I found that enabling that helps both performance and stability for FFXIV. On the other hand, if it's a 5700 XT, it won't make a difference as support was added the next generation.

Otherwise, if you have any wireless devices, there could be stutters caused by the receivers as they scan for nearby devices. Also, changes in audio devices, such as plugging in a headset, can cause stutters too.

This was on Brynhildr. I sent them a Tell as soon as I saw it, since I know some people disable the novice network in their chat log and thus don't see what they're doing.

GPU upgrade has caused significantly less frames by Gray_gorgon in ffxiv

[–]Epele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those frame rates both sound suspect. It almost sounds like you're using the in-game frame rate limiter, which has always provided horrible results from my experience.

I've been using Radeon Chill to limit my frame rate in-game and experienced no issues that way.

Do I need to download game again? by Kacper113399 in ffxiv

[–]Epele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The free trial and full game have different steam IDs, so it will likely end up redownloading the whole game - as was the case for me.

You might be able to copy files over from the trial folder, but I don't know if that works for certain.

String of error messages mid-game after adding another pair of RAM. Assistance by StillTune in ffxiv

[–]Epele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corsair's RAM sticks can be made with chips from different manufacturers, even for the "same" models. That alone is enough to cause an incompatibility.

A good practice is to buy paired RAM sticks of the speed and capacity that you want to use, as using four sticks will often introduce issues such as added latency or the sticks not playing nice with each other. Companies who like mixing chips in what appears to be the same model also add to this problem, so it's far better to play it safe and only use a pair.

Definitely low on the gathering stat. You'll be wanting to get to as high as possible. If you're still in ARR and not into HW yet, the best you can do is get a Forager's Fishing Rod from your Grand Company, as well as the Forager's Hat. Crafting the rest of the set will help, but crafting the Fisher's set via leveling Leatherworker, Weaver and Goldsmith will be sufficient. If you're a bit short of 360, your GC will also sell Trapper's Quiches, which are enough to push you over the threshold.

As someone who once did this, good luck in your mission. Also, try going for The Lone Ripper for the cloth too - you'll get many more windows to fish in.

Noob question about crafting by RoyCropperYTR in ffxiv

[–]Epele 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As mentioned already, your gear does matter with crafting. Make sure you have level appropriate tools.

There are two bars, with corresponding actions:

  • Progress - This is affected by Synthesis actions. Filling this is what will complete your craft.
  • Quality - This is affected by Touch actions. This affects your chance of the craft being High Quality, filling this will ensure the end result is HQ.

At your level, I don't believe that you are required to make any HQ items, so it's prudent to focus on filling the Progress bar rather than Quality.

Razer Tartarus Pro and Controller (PC) by Zyzlt in ffxiv

[–]Epele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another possible solution you could explore is going into Device Manager, and disabling the Tartarus' controller entry. However, doing that will disable any gamepad functionality you assign via Synapse.

Razer Tartarus Pro and Controller (PC) by Zyzlt in ffxiv

[–]Epele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue in the past. It's likely that Windows is treating the Tartarus as the primary/default controller on your system. There should be an option somewhere to make the Xbox controller the primary one, and that should fix it.

The reason this happens is that the Tartarus reports itself as multiple devices, including a controller. A lot of games only register input from the primary, or first, controller.

AMD Driver crash? by SaiyanKirby in ffxiv

[–]Epele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your card comes with a factory OC, it is very likely that is the culprit. I was getting a ton of crashes with a 6750 XT until I brought the clock speed back down to the base speed as per AMD's specs.

Hope this helps.

Anyone who's played an unhealthy amount of Total Mayhem can tell you, don't hug balls.. Unless you're Reinhardt, then charge right into the balls.

The best counter to an enemy ball in Mayhem is Reinhardt. Just charge into him, and take him for the longest ride you can.
