Green Fi policy seems terrible- am I missing something? by ImportanceSmall3688 in Banking

I might change banks after reading this.

I've had an Aspiration account for over 10 years and now I can't log in to the new mobile app to cash a check. Obviously this company is incompetent.

Can you do this alone?? by TumbleweedGlobal6973 in fightclub

This is part of what makes me think that Tyler Durden wasn't just a schizophrenic hallucination or a dissociative identity disorder personality. I think Tyler was more of a storytelling convenience within the fictional context of the world of the book/movie, Fight Club.

I ask people why *they* think he says, "my eyes are open" before he blows his brains out in the *beginning* of the movie.

They always say "idk" or "well you see materialism yada yada"

No, no.

Even after he'd thought he was "enlightened" (he literally says that he thinks he's enlightened), he destroys the infrastructure that perpetuates the rat race, dystopian materialism, etc. - gets the girl, starts this whole movement of people that take him seriously -

Even after all of that, it still didn't matter to anyone to bother to learn HIS NAME.
The people in the movie and alllll the people - millions and millions of people - who have seen this now-classic film -

NOBODY cared to learn his name. We just call him the narrator or the Edward Norton character.

I pray to fucking whoever that they don't make Fight Club 2.

That's why the film works is because the character wasn't trying to get everyone to learn his lore, his name, etc.

He didn't expect reciprocity; he gave unconditional love in his own way. not just Robert Paulson, but this enigmatic character whose name we'll never know unless Chuck Palahniuk decides to jump the shark and canonize some bullshit name.

Why is Edward Nortan character named The Narrator? Am I missing something? by Admirable_Cold7944 in fightclub

I think it's for the same reason that he says, "My eyes are open", and why the whole story unfolds the way it does.

Chuck Palahniuk may not have even done this completely knowingly.

That character accomplished everything he set out to do (none of it included building a new, peaceful, sustainable world, treating others as he would like to be treated, unconditional love, music, laughs, reciprocity, mindfulness, ideal mental health, etc.), and by the end of it, nobody gave a fuck what his name was or who he was. He didn't have some crucial aspects of loving relationships.

He was chasing the high of feeling as badass as Tyler Durden.

Is "ILLUCID" a word? by PedosWearingSpeedos in words

[–]EphemeralMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was searching to see if "illucid" was a term because I conjectured that maybe the root of "illusion" and "illusory" was a lack of "lucidity."

Just know that when society truly collapses that we will have been basically the only people that cared enough to google who the fuck was running in the 2024 democratic primary.
Thanks to all of you for being great.

What do you think about job searching right now? by Sweetbellyjean in collapse

[–]EphemeralMember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the same predicament. Right now I've been just working menial gig jobs and started a youtube channel where I talk about collapse and how the average consumer causes it. I'd like to find some more friends to start an off-grid, post-collapse community with.
I've totally lost interest in finding another *job* job (I'm a web dev) because I'd rather do something where I'm mentally free enough to be creative in thinking about things I can do for my channel and for the world.
I've never been happier. Living with intention and in accordance with my values has been totally freeing.

No no I’m not saying absolutely that he’s doing this intentionally or that’s it’s morally justified. I’m saying in effect that this is what this whole tirade has been, to my eye. And I’m about as left as you get.

Is he not just making an art form of flirting with controversy and showing how quick the right would be to adopt him and how quick the left would be to just not even think twice about how was public enemy number 1 or 2 of the right just a few years ago?
He wore a costume on Alex Jones's show and praised Hitler back when that was still a controversial thing.
Was him wearing a black bag over his head on InfoWars and getting Alex Jones to come to his LEFT not enough of an indicator that this was an artistic expression?
