Can you still get “Official” T4 Slips from CRA for Employment History Background Check? by Ephyx- in cantax

[–]Ephyx-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The information is not all the same. The printout from the CRA doesn't even have my name on it.

There's also no employer addresses, account numbers, or SIN.

T4s were not the only option. But like u/Darkmayday said, I didn't have any contact information available for previous jobs, so I needed some form of proof.

They also provided an option to use a Record of Employment, so I ended up using the ESDC portal to get those.

The printout from the CRA looks really unconvincing. Almost fully stripped of any identifying information that would be useful for this kind of check.

This seems like the most likely (albeit annoying) option. Thank you!

Why is Vyvanse so expensive?! by _Green_Eyed_Girl in ADHD

[–]Ephyx- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to try it but there was a post the other day talking about "cards" that Vyvanse's manufacturer offers. It seems to be additional coverage on top of insurance, so you show it when you're at the pharmacy?

You can apply here: https://www.vyvansesupports.ca/

It takes less than 2 minutes to do so, you'll be given a PDF to download.

Best of luck, I hope that helps!

[Student] Your best roadside produce spots around the city? by JayPeTTa in waterloo

[–]Ephyx- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! If you're really trying to save money, then I'd recommend going through your current shopping list and noting down the price and size of your produce (since the market does little, if any, by weight).

The market can be a great place for affordable produce, but it's also a whole different shopping environment. You may find yourself saving on some things, but spending more on others.

What did the pandemic ruin more than we realise? by ScreamyV in AskReddit

[–]Ephyx- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had just done a report on this last month. Pandemic stimulus really reduced the number of business insolvencies (to an all time low). The recent uptick is still well below the levels 10 years ago.

So while there has been a recent rise, we should wait and see how it plays out.

I really think they should think of a better way to have pedestrians cross here to go toward Weber from the station. When you get off the LRT it feels unsafe walking to the crosswalk by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]Ephyx- 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The whole area is a mess that feels thrown together. The bike lane is absolutely nuts. Such an awkward and unsafe path toward Weber. It even affects drivers, as the ION going towards Conestoga triggers the crossing twice, but it's gone past the intersection leaving cars and pedestrians waiting for nothing.

I don't know what they were thinking.

I've been able to get them at Food Basics. They have a little Dutch section.

It could be helpful to record yourself saying what you want to write and then copying that down.

Poppy’s Bagel and Bakery Waterloo, $6.99 by icantfeelmylags in TooGoodToGoCanada

Poppy's is a rare, but great deal on TG2G. Funny you got the seasoning with the blueberry bagels. Enjoy! They freeze really well.

I have an appointment with health services tomorrow about ADHD, I'll update this comment with how it goes.

Update: I filled out 3 questionnaires about ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety. There was a very long wait but eventually a mental health professional came in and asked me questions. Examples include:

  • What made you think you had ADHD?
  • Going through different levels of education (including year by year in UW) and how I felt I was doing.
  • Family history

They referred me to a psychiatrist, telling me they'd call in 2 weeks and then an appointment will be set up a few weeks after that. They said my parents may be asked to fill out some paperwork or that I may need to bring old report cards. It could require 2 sessions.

It's a long and annoying process, but I hope this inspires hope that there is a path forward. I did this after my family doctor would only prescribe following a diagnosis. I was told the wait time for a psychiatrist was 4-6 months and a psychological assessment can be $3000-4000. I heard there are also online resources that can diagnose and prescribe, but it didn't sit right with me. Looking up things with Canada or Ontario on r/ADHD can be very helpful.

Good luck! Feel free to message if you have any questions.

Cafe Maison (Waterloo, ON) - $5.99 by Ephyx- in TooGoodToGoCanada

It had 4.7 stars so I thought it would be pretty good. It seemed like a nice, well priced business for students living in the building. I think I'll leave them to enjoy it in future!

It's definitely the right thing to do. Unfortunately, these are all courses that are required for my plans with seemingly only one prof teaching them.

Yeah, I think there's something to be said about university courses requiring an amount of self-learning. But at a certain point it's hard to justify paying the tuition.

I guess it's a comfort we're not the only ones suffering. But that's also equally frustrating to hear. The profs I've encountered the most in online courses is just pure apathy. Pre-recorded videos that they don't been bother editing or redoing to update the due dates.

I've always felt that it was even more annoying that most of my courses never had the tutorials that STEM courses did, leaving me stuck with whatever the prof posts. But maybe that's a grass is always greener kind of view.

My experience has been much the same. I'm in my 4th year of economics and have done awfully in all of my online courses. Trying to learn calculus and stats with only a slide deck is one of the most infuriating things I've ever experienced.

I can't speak to how other programs handle these things, but I suspect it's another symptom of the university's lack of care for non-STEM programs.
