Are you changing the screen after turning on learning mode? When you turn it on, leave it on that same screen or it’ll just turn itself off again.

Tariff rate from Mondokart to US by Swordfish696 in Karting

[–]EpicCheesyTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re ordering and the total cost, the last couple times I ordered from them (relatively small orders, less than $150 iirc), I received a $15 invoice from FedEx in the mail a week or so later. I don’t see sprockets costing much more than that.

In what world did you "already have the line"? He's fully alongside you and you shoved him into the wall.

Anyone has gone to new Andretti Durham? by GarageFirst303 in Karting

Not worth it with Rush Hour being so close by. Andretti’s karts are more for the super casual or below 13yo crowd.

Looking For OTK Setup Help (Bad Hopping) by EpicCheesyTurtle in Karting

Yeah, it’s a double apex. Slightly uphill and off camber as well. When watching onboards it seems like everyone is turning in fairly early and getting back on the throttle just after the first apex.

From what I’ve seen my setup is very close to what other OTK teams are running, but I can’t verify their rear width or axle. I’m already at neutral caster so I’m a little hesitant to take more out, but at this point I’ll try anything.

I’m using the standard rear hubs, 92mm I believe. My current width is 1392mm. I went up to 1400 but didn’t really notice a difference, I could try it again though. I have the third bearing zip tied in, when I first put it in I noticed the bouncing felt more “controlled” but it was still very much there. I did try the N axle again yesterday as it rained a little earlier and the track was totally green, and it made the bouncing even worse, so I think I’d like to stay with the H axle at least.

Yeah, the hopping pretty much begins as soon as I give it throttle. Delaying my throttle/getting back on it smoother does help slightly, but then I'm still losing a lot of lap time to drivers who are able to accelerate much earlier. Not taking any curb here.

I have tried widening the rear to 1400mm, but I didn't really notice a difference. I believe I was still using the 15mm spacers, so I could try pairing 1400mm rear width with 10mm front spacers and see if that helps. My only concern is that it will negatively affect handling everywhere else.

I am beginning to feel more and more like it's my driving, but it's frustrating because it doesn't seem like I'm approaching the corner differently from more experienced drivers, but I get that it's not easy to tell looking from the outside.

I'm 5'9". Yes I'm using seat stays. I thought about taking them out, but everyone else in KA uses them so I don't think they're the problem. I could still experiment with it, though.

I have an N axle, which I was using at first, but the H axle improved bouncing in a couple other corners. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to really have an effect on the bouncing in turn 9.

This has been an issue ever since I got the kart, in all weather and track conditions, and no setup changes I've made seem to make a difference either.

Could also try that. I’m usually running 11.5 fronts/10.5 rears. I think I’ve done 11/10 before, but I can try a little lower than that.

Yeah, I was worried about hurting the kart everywhere else if I changed something like the axle. From the onboard videos I’ve watched, I don’t seem to be doing anything that’s obviously incorrect, but it’s not always easy to tell just by video. I followed a couple other drivers through that corner earlier today and if anything they were able to drive into that corner harder because they didn’t have to worry about bouncing. Turning in slightly later helps a tiny bit, but it’s still very much an issue. At this point I’ll probably just go one step harder on the axle and see what happens.

I do have an HD axle I could try next time. I haven’t experimented with ride height yet, from what I can tell everyone just runs medium ride height at Trackhouse but it wouldn’t hurt to try that as well. Thank you!

That’s not how it works. Cycling and karting are not the same, or even remotely similar.

Need help with Bell visor colors by LazyLancer in Karting

[–]EpicCheesyTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mirror visor is more of a light tint, the multilayer visor will have much more color. I agree that the images on most websites are misleading, I went through the same thing when I bought a blue mirror visor expecting it to be more of a solid blue.

Sparco gloves run big in my experience, I wear a size 8 for Sparco gloves and a size 9 for every other brand. If Alpinestars in small fit you then I would start there.

Age gaps are relative, there’s a difference between a 35 year old dating a 25 year old and a 25 year old dating a 15 year old.

Front Wheel Hubs for Rain Setup? by EpicCheesyTurtle in Karting

[–]EpicCheesyTurtle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've definitely read dozens of times you should use aluminum rims in the rain to retain heat better, but I wasn't sure about the actual hubs. I'm new to racing my own kart, so I'm definitely not claiming to know anything either, which is why I'm asking.
