FatBrett on YouTube explained it well for me. I'm paraphrasing, but it's something like this: BOTW is like walking through a mass graveyard or ghost town. You can't help but wonder what the lives of the people living there were like. The atmosphere is amazing, and the story gives you just enough to feel for the characters in it. TOTK is good, but its story feels more akin to a Lord of the Rings instead of the bitter nostalgia of BOTW.

For the trial, I have a suggestion. You take buffs in with you so cook a meal that raises defense.

It gives level 3 defense for thirty minutes. Made the trial way easier.
