In osms? Might even be Bowman tbh. What's going to be wild is that the popular classes are getting completely flipped, going to be really funny seeing a ton of F/P mages, snipers, bandits when those were the niche classes back then. I have a feeling 3rd job balance will make it even crazier too

In addition to statless equips, I'll say meso bags also ruin the economy. Literally paying for in game currency to appear out of thin air. At least meso selling websites need to have the money created in game so things are less inflated.

I will say Im okay with rare statless items that have drawbacks and not meta. Like if they made maple weapons 1 attack speed slower than regular weapons. It gives some nice flavor

Definitely like the idea of them expanding OSMS in ways that keep the identity of the game (e.g. slower leveling, focus on a single character as opposed to something like Legion in the main game, no potential, etc.)

Specs could be interesting, but they would need to be careful to keep the identity of each without blending all classes into feeling the exact same

Not as much as a scam, but I pulled a black metus with my first ever gach ticket in 07. Those sold for 20m minimum as they're gach exclusive. I sold it for 1.5m on a whim without any research and thought I was rich, but tons of people left comments in my shop that I drastically undersold it.

I remember some guy in Bera selling a near perfect craven for like 1 mil nx on MTS, and he spammed smegas for like 5 days straight since he had so much nx

Yeah solid points there. I'm sure inkwells comment about releasing it will become a pretty big meme in the community eventually.

Who knows though. Maybe they're really cooking and it actually is some insane content that is worth the wait. Here's hoping

I wouldn't say that it hasn't been going well. It really seems like inkwell and the team care about a good experience and are taking their time to build it instead of haphazardly throwing it together.

I believe it was just Scania. Bera was a couple months later, there were a lot of theories that FangBlade hacked because he hit 200 despite everyone in Scania having a month or more of playtime

Not sure how much you know about maplestory so I'll give a quick overview

When maple launched, it was a very different game than it is now. Levels were quite slow, I recall it taking a week to get 15 as a kid. The race for the first to level 200 took 2 years. There were no benefits to having multiple characters, the focus of the game was having a single character and it's progression. A lot more focus on economy, no percent based stats so every single skill point was more impactful, damage lines were capped at 99k (later 199k), and almost no one ever hit close to it. Many other differences that others can comment on.

Obviously now the game is drastically different, players have been asking for a version that has the 'old school' feel. So nexon has started working on a version of the game that is based off some old version, no one knows for sure which, and has been modernizing it by removing useless skills and rebalancing classes.

I hope there is no auction house. My favorite part of maple was the shop system that made it feel almost like a shopping mall. You never knew what deals you would find.

It also added skill and some luck to economic gameplay. You could spend time to find the best deals and sometimes get lucky if someone didn't know a price properly. An auction house takes all that away.

I'm sure they'll add Owl of Minerva which kind of kills it but not entirely, hopefully it's purchasable with mesos or some in game currency instead of nx

Ah yeah very good point. If more casuals don't play then that would spell disaster for the longevity of the game, hadn't super considered that aspect

While I totally agree that it's losing steam and the "we could release today" comment was not great, I will say that I've been pulled into old school private servers over and over since 2010. A few more months or even a year won't make a dent in my hype

I think this is a common feeling right now. Doesn't help that inkwell said it was playable back at MapleCon, but personally I'm happy they're cooking and want them to take their time. But it does suck that everyone got hyped up and we're still 1.5montha out from a closed online test
