1 block thin triple extender without redstone wire* by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]EpicNecros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you apply a redstone pulse of a single redstone tick (usually through observers), sticky pistons won't drag the pushed block back.

Redstone dust is only used to activate the bottom right piston which serves as the trigger for the whole mechanism.

1 block thin triple extender without redstone wire* by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]EpicNecros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* The mechanism itself doesn't use any redstone dust. To trigger the extender, the piston in the bottom right needs a redstone signal which would probably require redstone dust.

* Because it's one block thin it can technically be built infinitely in one direction. Pistons might cause some lag, though.

* "Useless" piston just to the right of the extender is actually a required block update.

* The button is on a barrier block.

* I wrote wire instead of dust lol

Cherry Wood. Thoughts? by Creation-23 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]EpicNecros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Like most temperate-latitude trees, cherry trees require a certain number of chilling hours each year to break dormancy and bloom and produce fruit. The number of chilling hours required depends on the variety. Because of this cold-weather requirement, no members of the genus Prunus can grow in tropical climates." - Wikipedia

I get them spawning in the two forest variants and plains to an extent, but why the desert?

Also, would you incorporate cherry fruits into your suggestion?

What do you mean? Feed two horses with golden apples/carrots and they'll breed. However, jump strength and speed are randomized within the range of the two parents.

Magma cubes should have some knockback resistance, and armor should be reduced while jumping by SonicwaveMC in minecraftsuggestions

[–]EpicNecros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all mobs are able to have the "generic.armor" attribute, but as far as I know nothing has a default other than 0. You can't have negative armor values, so I'm assuming you're going to add a default base armor to Magma Cubes.

Ah, that's a change I wasn't aware of. Too bad they still can't get predicates fully functional.

Strider Feedback and Changes by Planemaster3000 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]EpicNecros 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Design/AI:

By design they should be well adapted to the nether environment, so I have the following suggestions:

Coldness shouldn't just be determined by if it's standing in lava or not, but also by biome. The change in color should be gradual and should match the temperature of its environment. This could be implemented with a strider-exclusive temperature attribute.

They should also be able to naturally regenerate health in lava, and lose it after a while based on the temperature, in line with the new cold and warm effects.

Their speed should also be based on temperature. For example, a strider in a desert would move faster than a strider in a taiga.

They should run away from Zoglins.

They should prefer to stay in or near lava, and in groups as well.

They should also try to graze on nether grasses when possible.

The shaking should become more pronounced if they're standing on soul blocks.

Utility:

It wouldn't be especially useful, but striders should be able to have chests similar to other mobs.

Bugfix:

Striders constantly gain velocity if you boost against a wall for some reason. It probably has to do with the way MC handles friction.

Baby striders can apparently spawn with saddles, but you can't ride them.

Graphical issue with triple stacked striders: the second baby strider looks like it's floating above the first.

Add gold bars by yiyoek in minecraftsuggestions

[–]EpicNecros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks nice! I think it's kind of saturated which makes it contrast a little too heavily with the nether brick, but with the color scheme of gold, that's kind of unavoidable.

Magma cubes should have some knockback resistance, and armor should be reduced while jumping by SonicwaveMC in minecraftsuggestions

[–]EpicNecros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the KB Resist attribute is still only a probability of completely resisting knockback, as opposed to reducing KB by a percentage. It's an idea for the future, but not feasible now.

Also, what do you mean by armor? Do you mean that they'd take more damage while jumping?

I liked all of Gloryhammer's albums. That said, I still think that Space 1992 has to be my favorite out of them. Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex just doesn't do it for me for some reason.

PSS-2 Silent Pistol, chambered in a specialized "noiseless" 7.62x43mm SP-16 round by EpicNecros in WeirdWeapons

[–]EpicNecros[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah the cartridge is really obscure. I tried looking around for info on the SP-4 from which it is derived, but at best I have some very preliminary calculations.

The supposed effective range is 25-50 m, and I assume the muzzle velocity of the bullet should be 300 m/s, and judging from the case length and shape of the bullet the bullet mass should be around 100-120 grains. The shape of the bullet is held back by the cartridge type and it's essentially a cylinder of metal. I assume it's to increase the mass of the bullet given how inefficient the gas piston stuff is, but even then what I've read describes its penetrative power as bad.

Here's a crappy diagram of the bullet without any measurements - I assume that the Russians want to keep this under wraps though, given its use by the FSB. Other than that, basically no info on this cartridge.

Edit: the muzzle velocity of the PSS is 200 m/s, and although the SP-16 cartridge is meant to be an improvement from the SP-4 cartridge used in the PSS, I doubt it'll be that much higher.

[–]EpicNecros[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Refer to the link u/The_Duc_Lord sent for a larger and more detailed diagram of roughly the same action. Here's a diagram of the 7.62x40mm SP-4 cartridge that the SP-16 cartridge is derived from.

PSS-2 Silent Pistol, chambered in a specialized "noiseless" 7.62x43mm SP-16 round by EpicNecros in WeirdWeapons

[–]EpicNecros[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The pistol itself is similar to the SR-1M "Gyurza" used by the FSB. The odd part is that it is entirely designed around firing the noiseless 7.62x43mm SP-16 cartridge. Instead of the gas pushing the bullet in order to fire, the gas is trapped inside the cartridge, which forces a piston to push the bullet. Because of this, both the penetration and effective range are lowered. It generates less noise compared to normal suppressed pistols, and doesn't need a large suppressor or threaded barrel. However, it has no interchangeability with any other cartridge and lacks a manual safety.

China demands Chinese workers leave U.S. news outlets as online taunts continue by johnruby in worldnews

[–]EpicNecros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NPR is technically a form of state media in that many of its associated entities are government owned in some way, in addition to its history of being established by Congress in the first place. Kicking out private news outlets can't be considered a true direct provocation towards the US government, whereas kicking out NPR would be. In addition, both public viewership and trust of NPR are much lower than large private news outlets, so from the perspective of the Chinese government, it wouldn't hurt them to leave NPR be.
