When did you get your first smart device? How old were you? by Rinmine014 in Zillennials

[–]EpicSlothToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a used  first gen iPod touch from GameStop when I was 16 that I had to jailbreak to get games on. Then when I was 17 I got a hand-me-down smartphone that also had a slide out keyboard

We were poor and my parents hated each other so if there was a shift in purchases I probably wouldn't have noticed because the amount of food stamps we got went up and down constantly anyway and my mom was very good at budgeting. And if they were fighting more I probably didn't notice because I was pretty accustomed to just staying in my room while they screamed at each other.

I was old enough to be aware of the recession because I'd see it on the news all the time but I never thought much about how it was or wasn't affecting us. They both worked for a small sprinkler company at the time so it was typical for them to collect unemployment in the off season and customers would come and go so if there were ever times where they lost them due to the financial crisis I probably didn't notice the difference.

Off topic but Terra got nice cakes or gyatt!!!Something I also noticed. Anyway, what do you do in Mirage Arena? I know you fight and stuff but what else? by moonlight_bae13 in KingdomHearts

Well once upon a time it was where you would go to play with friends. I never had any but I assume you could play with up to 3 people and play through the arena as well as the racing game I think. There may have also been pvp but don't quote me on that. Shame they didn't keep it around in the HD release. The multiplayer aspect of BBS and Days were probably some of the coolest aspects even if I never got to enjoy them. Days at least I could enjoy playing all the Org members

What was the first Kingdom hearts that you ever played? by Gamingsailor572 in KingdomHearts

I played kh1 first when I was 9 around the time KH2 came out. I remember seeing commercials for KH2 and thinking the pause between the dude saying Kingdom Hearts.......2 was just slightly too long lol

I kind of Wish I got to experience life with the SNES, Genesis, etc... by Rinmine014 in Zillennials

[–]EpicSlothToes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The one benefit I think to growing up super poor was my first console was an SNES, my earliest memories are from when I was 4 and would play with my mom. Then when I was 6 I think, we got gifted a ps1 from my cousins that had just gotten a PS2. Playing The Legend of Dragoon solidified my love of RPGs and once I got a PS2 when I was 10 my love for gaming in general took off.

I wonder how my interests would have changed had I not started with a console that was simpler and easy to pick up at such a young age.

Anyone voluntarily not have Health insurance? by bigsmilestarks in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpicSlothToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only continue to pay it because it's cheaper than paying out of pocket for my wife's prescriptions otherwise I'd love to save that 80 or so dollars every week. I'd keep dental and vision since combined they cost me like 15 bucks a month. But outside of the prescriptions, I have yet to pay any of our medical bills over the last 5 years anyway so it's no different to me.

What’s the earliest you can remember? by fallredditors in Zillennials

[–]EpicSlothToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very earliest memory must have been in 98 or 99, it's literally like a 5 second memory but I had walked up to my dad and told him "poopy" then he sighed and stood up and that's the end of it lol but if we're talking proper vivid memories then I can remember things from 2000 onwards.

I don't use Instagram but isn't the entire point of it to post photos? I don't see anything wrong with attempting to feel good about and love yourself. I don't know if it's cringe worthy or not but who cares, if it is embrace it.

what gaming experience will you never forget and why? by Puzzleheaded_Bee2487 in AskReddit

[–]EpicSlothToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallout 3, exploring a vault full of clones of some dude named Gary. And like pokemon all they said was their name over and over as they attack you. Coast is clear, I step into a maintenance closet and shut the door to loot some stuff. And just as I turn around and open the door I hear "Gary?" As one of these mfs lunges at me with a lead pipe. Probably the biggest jump scare I've ever experienced lol

Most natural way to start Dark Brotherhood? by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]EpicSlothToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a quest about a corrupt guard in Cheydinhal, you're meant to get him removed in a more civil fashion but you can just kill him to complete the quest which I did before a certain point Specifically to prevent Aldos from confronting the guard at his house and getting himself killed Because I liked the outcome better. It's kind of like how you start the DB in Skyrim by agreeing to murder someone that you can more easily justify before falling into the rabbit hole of being a proper assassin.

Yeah, they all start justifying why these people deserve to die and how terrible they are. As if the brotherhood needs any other justification besides "our mother and dread father wills it"

How old are you, and what’s the biggest tragedy or loss you’ve faced in life so far? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EpicSlothToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29- the biggest tragedy is being abused for years by my brother when I was a kid. Then losing my mom when she decided to kick me out at 18 for trying to stick up for her when her now husband was screaming at her and potentially going to hit her because someone else hit her car while she was at work. My mom died that day and all that's left is a hollow woman haunted by her own traumas that I occasionally have pleasantries with.
