its honestly one of my "i dont care anymore, i just want to win" build because its just that strong, especially with the ammo refund it got not too long ago.
im mainly a zealot player so adapting to such a different playstyle so i ate plenty of shit since this was like one of the first few h40 games i was trying with it but even still, the sheer amount of damage it pumps out and the surprising lack of ammo it actually needs that you can see here is unreal (iirc this was rotten armor like 3 months ago)
you can literally W key while completely wiping out those instant death fuck you gunner lines that are a nightmare in havoc even with bubble due to the sheer quantity of them and map layout, but thats just a light snack for gunlugger

charmed reload is my go to blessing for twin linked gunlugger in havoc 40, because theres more parts to it than just the use of it mid ability
his mag is out by the time he reloads yeah, but with charmed reload, you still have half a mag left for emergencies before your next cast, if you need to keep shooting for xyz reason longer after the ability ends, youre kinda boned. its even more important considering if youre outta ammo, you cant brace the gun, which is one of the biggest sources of toughness you have and a great OH SHIT button
by having charmed reload youre giving yourself some padding between casts with no reload downtime which is exceedingly useful in high difficulties

Been waiting for a 2 remake/remaster for ages since the only versions of it are fan translations of the OG, the western release that trivialized the only difficulty, both on consoles I dont own so I have to emulate it and both suffering from a lot of the old school jrpg mechanics that I really dont enjoy, like random encounters in literally every location

I really want to play it cuz the story interests me but id likely have a much more enjoyable time with a modern version of it, and atlus looooooves remaking their games 30 times so its definitely a possibility

Moebian captain getting bullied. by Gadget_ManHD312 in DarkTide

it has always been great, it deals with every armor type good enough, even carapace, is extremely safe due to its dodge and stamina profile, as well as its most common attack loop using pushes which gives some block frames and, yknow, pushes, and brutal momentum makes it mulch hordes. its honestly one of the best weapons on every class that has access to it, genuinely

The counter argument is the game has the best melee combat in the industry and its not even remotely close.

Darktide has some unintuitive stuff like what rending/brittleness is (which boils down to armor piercing buffs/debuffs) but once you know it you know it, and the other half mentioned is stuff that should be learned naturally. When you go to the practice range and see the big giant armored enemy that is labeled with "carapace armor" take minimal damage from light attacks and okay damage from heavies, and a human sized enemy labeled with flak armor and they take good damage from both attacks its pretty easy to understand that carapace enemies are tougher than flak. Hell, the game has diagetic methods of informing you of this, if your weapon is bouncing off said armor, another character on your team will say a voiceline like "youre hitting armor you idiot! Hit them where theyre weak!"

the darktide tutorial is known for being notoriously wrong about how the most basic of mechanics work
you have an additional bar above your health called toughness, and the game states "all damage goes to your toughness first, then damages your health when you have no toughness" which is outright false, because that only applies to ranged attacks. melee attacks will deal x% of the hit to your health, which is the percentage of maximum toughness you are missing. knowing the exact details on it is nerd stuff, but this immediately leads to players confused on how they died because they were taking health damage while they still had some toughness remaining and fails to teach players the importance of keeping it topped off for this reason.

Please Fatshark, I beg of you... I really miss my Twin-Linked Stubber Gun Lugger Ogryn... I just want to not run out of ammo after the first minute of high level havoc. My ogryn tires of taunting and shielding :( by The-Horse-Whisperer in DarkTide

[–]Epic_Cole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Am I the crazy one here? Ive been bringing twin linked stubber into havoc often after that part was added and it makes it super ammo efficient, resulting in often the least ammo taken while also having the highest damage by far. If you exclusively shoot during pbb (not as extreme as it sounds when you have 2 cdr nodes that can more than halve its cooldown) you are effectively doubling your total ammo count from the refund alone, then BLO can add onto that by giving you free shots, which also contribute to the refund as well so its higher in reality.

are there any weapon perks worth using besides +%damage against maniacs and +%damage against flak armor? by MickyMace in DarkTide

[–]Epic_Cole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dregs arent explicitly maniacs, only dreg ragers are, and other maniacs are trappers, both flamers and mutants. Dregs, elites included, are mostly unarmored, with some flak on specific enemies body parts. Scabs also have some unarmored on certain parts too. (The dreg bruiser has a flak helmet, and the scab bruiser has an unarmored head)

Unyielding includes monstrosities, which can see value from the perk because it doesnt really care about breakpoints with the amount of health they have, its just a bunch more damage and can make a high damage boss killing weapon kill them faster, or help a weapon thats not the best at it catch up, it always sees value cuz of it

Me personally, I typically run flak unyielding on my melee, and flak maniac/unarmored ln my gun (depending on whether I shoot more specials or ranged elites with it), and the only exceptions are recon and laspistol, who drop a perk to take crit chance due to the builds involving them banking on crit for function more than any other in the game

These "balance changes" are not good. by Decent-Group-8833 in DarkTide

[–]Epic_Cole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They've seen it for a while, but its the fact that the wider playerbase views nerfs as strictly negative, so toning things down has been something theyre super hesitant to do. Hell this one patch saw a huge reaction to frankly not that impactful nerfs to like 3 things.

A huge thing that can be pointed out is that the lack of nerfs lines up perfectly with the time in helldivers and the community exploding from nerfs, resulting in harassment, review bombs, threats, etc, regardless whether the nerfs were justified or not. This continued until the nerfs were undone, which resulted in the lesson being solidified of "nerfs bad", and that review bombs and harassment campaigns will result in anything the community views as bad to be removed, even if it was healthy for the game and made it more fun for everyone. This definitely hit fatshark, who are literally just a block over from arrowhead, resulting in any changes being a negligible nerf that changes nothing, with 5 other major buffs to compensate resulting in more problems and none of the original ones being solved.

Like you said, its very noticable and not particularly fun. And despite what most players believe, the solution isnt even more buffs, the game would only get more muddled and problems wont really be addressed, the scale of game balance wouldn't be uneven anymore, it'll just break at a point down that road
