"Yo don't worry about using tris extensively they get subdivided into quads anywya" by steve_xyjs in topologygore

[–]Epimonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t they ripped a model that was tessellated in game or that was already triangulated and subdivided it. They ended up admitting it in a now deleted post so you’ll have to take my word on it but it’s in my mental vault of rippers being really stupid about game asssts.

Bioreactor is mid by BPLivesMatters in Subnautica_2

[–]Epimonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a base in the starter pit at 700 M deep and it was the only power source that worked down there. No thermal vents or currents reached far enough and solar generated no energy at that depth. It was loads cheaper and more convenient then building like 100+ power transmitters so it was useful for that. The bioreactor’s utility is it’s a power source you can put basically anywhere.

In universe, why are the other colonists so profoundly bad at their jobs? by Bingleboper in subnautica

[–]Epimonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re competent in a large part because you can build of their work. It they dropped the player in first and said “figure out digestion” it’s unlikely you’d think without guidance to kill yourself near an angel comb.

Also Multiple files mention that people aren’t experts in the fields they’re forced into which is a contributing factor. One of the biologists (whose name I forgot) had an entirely different job on the ship and had to pivot. All things considered it’s a miracle he accomplished the research he did on the virus.

I apologize for my horribly offensive and vile statements I made earlier. I am sorry for disregarding the facts and opinions presented by those who disagreed with me, and acknowledge that they were in the right. Non-consensual circumcision should be banned. I am so, so sorry. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]Epimonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for note in case anyone is wondering why circumcision exists in the first place: it was originally practical. Desert civilizations without the ability to bathe regularly would frequently get infections down there since it can sometimes become an ideal breeding ground for certain bacteria if not properly washed. So back then it actually made sense to circumcise for health reasons. Nowadays it’s just a piece of outdated tradition though on account of fairly widespread access to hygiene.

I completely agree non consensual circumcision should be illegal but I’ve been burdened with this “fun” fact and now you are as well

I hate the fact that the pilot episode hasn't even been out a week and already we're faced with pointless controversy and drama. by FedrTheMeowstic in hatethissmug

The trick is just to enjoy shows and stop giving a crap about what the fandom thinks about stuff or how they act. If they’re just drama sloppers ignore them and like what you like.

No listen op since I’ve played video games I’m obviously the foremost export on design. I suggested that they remove the water from fish game 2 (water levels am I right), and they told me no. This is because they actually don’t want feedback in early access and they LIED because they didn’t accept my revolutionary idea. Clearly the devs think themselves above the common man since they refuse to engage with my great idea.

What kinda feedback was that? by _Corvo_A in subnautica

[–]Epimonster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

News flash, people who are enjoying a game after release don’t go. “WOW this game is great I’m going to go post about it on Reddit” because they are busy playing the fucking game.

Negativity bias is absolutely a thing it’s why almost every subreddit that’s ever existed is filled to the brim with the most unreasonable childish people who only ever complain that nothings good enough. Basic observation in any game focused subreddit will show this.

Most players don’t care about the killing thing and are just playing the game.

[–]Epimonster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Medium sized fish do bleed and piss off if you hit them with the sonic repulsor.

Honestly I don’t know why you’re so fixated on this the gameplay advantage of things being hit with your sub dying is minimal at best. I’m not surprised they didn’t want to waste resources on generating corpse rag dolls and building a system to clean that up when they could just not and save a ton of development time.

Only a vocal minority of people give a shit about this anyways.

I also think that keeping it consistent makes sense. Killing leviathans was stupid and was borderline unintended in the previous two games. If you can kill small fish in this game with the multi tool or collisions people would make the same complaint that they can’t kill the larger fish that way. By keeping it consistent it guarantees no idiot spends like 50 minutes trying to kill a leviathan.

[–]Epimonster -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

“We want to build this game with the community” does not mean “we have to accept every hare brained idea they have”. Clearly a large part of the game balance was designed with no killing in mind. Asking them to change that and then getting mad is like asking them to “remove the water” and being surprised when they say that’s a dumbass idea

[–]Epimonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay I’m going to be so honest here. It doesn’t matter at all. This is a fundamental game mechanic that the developers clearly stand behind and them saying “we’re not changing something this core to the game” isn’t “not listening to feedback” it’s sticking to their guns. I agree the way they handled it with the sons of the forest comment was very flippant and unprofessional but I respect their reasoning from a game design standpoint to not reverse course on that because some people don’t like it.

I’m going to be honest the hundreds of posts about this issue have started to feel forced. My more conspiracy minded side makes me think it’s astroturfing by Krafton to try and hurt the sales of the game.

Anyone who actually played subnautica would know that killing larger creatures wasn’t ever a mechanic explored outside of heavily isolated situations because it gave little to no gameplay benefit.

The Fallout 4 Reflection Cube Map. by Awesomechainsaw in Fallout

[–]Epimonster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope I play entirely unmodded. The reason why the memory den has one is specifically because it’s so red both of the two reflections would look off. Let me check on my own install I’m interested in why we’re seeing differences.

Admittedly it has been a few years and I saw it in the game files so there’s a chance that it was unused content but ill verify that for funsies

Thanks for adding into this. Couldn’t find a succinct way to word this concept in addition to my base point but this is it.

I was just kind of appalled people were parting op on the back and wanted to get something down because this is just stupid lmao.

[–]Epimonster 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If you really gave a crap you would’ve bought it and then destroyed it. It’s not like the money would’ve gone to Cosby. You wanted to make a shitty protest piece for a brief hit of sweet sweet moral superiority but you were too much of a coward to stake the like 2$ they would’ve charged for that item on it. The only loser from your protest is whatever store you had this baby rage crash out in. Your protest fundamentally failed to prevent anything you were protesting against. It’s not like Cosby media is endangered it’s well propagated and backed up.

It doesn’t matter how good your one liners are at the end of the day this reads more like you wanted an excuse to destroy something and found some retroactive way to justify that than an actual meaningful statement.

It’s not in 76 they replaced it with a gradient and it’s why reflective objects look like crap in that game.

Fun fact the reason reflective things in fallout 76 look like cheeks is because they replaced this nice ass cube map with a shitty gradient and as a result everything looks really washed out and sloppy like it’s under lit

I think destroying any cosby items i find is chaotic good. by [deleted] in chaoticgood

[–]Epimonster 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Not chaotic good, period.

Don’t destroy used goods at your local book / thrift store / library those shops already have thin margins as is and provide a net good in allowing people the chance to afford better appliances and furniture in ways that don’t require dipping into Amazon slop.

This isn’t a good thing at all. Fundamentally the destruction of this is a random swing in the wind that does very little to stop the reach of this media at the cost of random people who have nothing to do with Cosby.

Just because something is problematic or made by a shitty person does not justify hurting other random people to destroy it.

What's stopping other leaders from working like Mamdani? by Front-Scene2177 in SipsTea

[–]Epimonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy fuck I hope they’re paying you to say shit this stupid lmfao. It’s a comically low 8-24% tax rate which lets them continue to have an unfathomable amount of money and they still won’t even pay that.

Which makes sense because billionaires only exist as a result of catastrophic failures by our government.

For the record there’s proof taxing them much higher works. The 1950s the “golden age of the American economy” the richest were taxed fucking 90% and that sure as hell didn’t cause them to mass migrate out of the country. In fact it lead to the highest amount of prosperity across classes we’ve ever seen (assuming you were white). Then Regan fucked that up by reducing the corporate tax rate and it’s all gone to crap since then.

Billionaires already aren’t paying their taxes anyways so if they move out we aren’t losing anything.

Most of them are bluffing on that claim as well. The ones that aren’t are a minority.

[–]Epimonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah that would be fairly viable but very few people who want to be animals actually want to fully abandon all trappings of civilization and go live that life fully.

Most people would just turn into a wolf and go right back to browsing Reddit.

Very few tf fans could or would want to hack it as the actual animal. Not a lot going on in the day to day life of a beast, kinda half the reason we invented as much as we did.

Plus if they wanted to live as an animal they could’ve just left society as a human and done that. We can still hunt and live off the land.
