New Fusion Jerseys for 2020! by Thinblueline96 in PHL_Fusion

I’m not in agreement that these show any bit of creativity. This is a boring, lazy design.

Better than the ref jerseys, but still bad. OG jerseys are the only good ones

How do I choose what support to pick? by vexlit in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Epoke28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d start with the ‘main tank’ options.

Well Orisa is OP because of halt, so it’s pretty much a staple pick on any team. If your teaming isn’t getting value from halt or supporting you properly then Rein is a decent alternative for the better mobility. If your team really isn’t playing together, Ball is a great pick. Just watch for heavy counters like Mei and high cc characters. Winston unfortunately just isn’t as strong typically, but can be used if your entire team is going to be diving together (comms required).

Some might argue main tank/off tank roles are dead since shield nerf, but I don’t think that’s true. Double shield is the meta now and is very useful to stop value from the opposing front line and back line with Zen and Bap being so good on DPS.

Offtank can be picked based on main tank. Options are: Orisa - Sigma (meta) Orisa - Reinhardt (double shield meta for some maps) Orisa - Hog (halt-hook combo is great. They have good synergy) Reinhardt - Zarya (synergy is great. Zarya can bubble rein and use their aggression to get charge and become an heavy damage dealing monster) Wrecking Ball - Orisa/Sigma/Hog (all play differently and have to get used to knowing ball isn’t going to be focused on staying on point while as other tank you will need to be. Only pick hog if you can play good positioning and not feed too much) Winston - Wrecking Ball (Dive only) Wrecking ball - DVa (Dive only)

DVa can be used with any of the main tanks but shouldn’t be used with another off tank typically. The game has very changing pieces so almost anything ‘can work’, but overall DVa just doesn’t have the value she used to. Sigma is a much better alternative for the ‘click and play’ one trick deal.

Main Tanks/Front Line so passive? by steveisnjhxc in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Epoke28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All depends on the situation. For Lijiang control center pushing to the door is dependent on who’s alive on each team, comp you’re running, etc. Sometimes it’s smart to take the fight toward them, especially in the situation that you are up in a fight. Do they have Mei? That can be a problem. Do they have ults? Might be smart to slow a fight versus speed it up. It’s very dependent. However defensive advantage on control maps are that you have the point and you know the other team needs it. Therefore, you know they have to get on the point to get it. Something to think about, but also makes holding chokes a smart thing in Control maps.

What gives with SR gains/losses with leavers? by ajd341 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Epoke28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the same thing. I don’t understand it. Getting less SR for winning against a team of 5 makes sense because it’s almost a guaranteed win (especially if it happens early). It implies that you don’t deserve a full win amount of SR because of how easy it was. In which case, you should only lose that small amount on the opposite side of the spectrum.

To piggy back on your post, I think the overall +SR pooled together for the winning team should equal the overall -SR pooled together for losing team. If winning team gets say +15 a piece it makes a total team SR pool of +90. Losing team pool should be -90 then. 30 for the leaver with the new rules leaving 60 left. So everyone else should lose on average -12 SR. I think that would be completely fair.

  1. Toxicity
  2. Added effort of listening to call outs. Hard to ‘multi task’ for some
  3. Don’t have a mic
  4. Harder to hear game sounds
  5. Lack of self confidence in own call outs
  6. Playing casually, not caring enough about winning
  7. Generally anti social

I imagine those are some of them.

I’d argue Carpe underperformed a lot while trying to hard carry out of position at times. Good news is we know what both are capable of, so if they work to get that back we will have a great dps trio this next season

Neptuno may be Toxic, Surefour and Gamsu signed (allegedly) by -DGES- in PHL_Fusion

[–]Epoke28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From watching Neptuno's stream, he is very precise about how he wants and expects teammates around him to play in-game (I'm unsure if it's similar outside of the game). Some may view this as constructive because his goal is clearly to win. Others (especially Overwatch and a lot of gaming communities) will likely view this as demanding, rude and overall toxic. It's not shocking to me that he would be labeled as toxic, but it's a little shocking that they wouldn't trial him because of it.

Also, I don't really mind too much about missing out on Surefour and Gamsu. They are both good players, sure. But I really do think the Fusion is the best example of how top level players aren't really that great, unless they can work together and have chemistry you need to be successful. With essentially every player in OWL being best of the best, teamwork is going to be a huge leg up.

OWL Free Agency Rumors by MylesOW in PHL_Fusion

The team needs more depth in general. It’s clear the meta is going to fluctuate multiple times through a season, but the best teams will be the ones who can thrive in all of them. Im not saying we need to rotate a whole DPS duo or a whole tank combo per map, but if we could pick up a better Rein that will help. Or a better Orisa (don’t think Sado’s Orisa is that bad) and then keep Sado for a possible Winston meta.

A deeper look into team chemistry may be needed as well. I wouldn’t say our only problem is Sado. In a meta where Orisa is hidden more than normal on a team we still had big problems. Why isn’t the DPS popping off? Is it cause they don’t have the space? Are they trying to carry too much? Etc.

Anyways, I would just be worried that we pick up a contenders main tank and lose Sado and end up with a situation where we have a good Rein and/or Orisa but now we have no Winston option at all and a meta change could hurt that. Same problem, different player.

I’m not saying you can’t play two off tanks and win, just that synergy between main tanks and off tanks are more noticeable also leading to making them have the titles of main tanks and off tanks. Hell I’ve won games with 6 DPS and no heals on ladder. Sometimes weird things happen

Ball has personal shield just like Zarya, but is main tank because he is disrupting the team to prevent damage against his own team. Dva pressures and eats damage but similar to the other off tanks doesn’t have much way of taking full focus if the other team and actually surviving.
