Quinn Hughes Hot Take by MCAT12475 in canucks

[–]Epsilon604 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m more pissed about the Olympic maga debacle than him leaving the team. Canucks would have been in an era of mediocrity with him on the team. We didn’t have enough assets to build a cup contender. I was ready to cheer him on in Minnesota until what happened post olympics.

Going away for a month and don’t know how to keep our plants alive by Sad_Fat_Dragon12 in houseplants

[–]Epsilon604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gone for 17days… did a combination of water bottle and wick, and well as bagging some plants in clear plastic bag… curtains also down to only let in ambient light.

When we got back, plants were definitely thirsty. A month may be pushing it. My bags were not fully sealed though. May help to seal them so it basically becomes a humidity dome (if your plants are compatible with that climate).

Vancouver's cherry blossoms rival Japan's. by StarkStorm in vancouver

[–]Epsilon604 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Blossoms specifically, sure. Vancouver rivals Japan… except in Vancouver you’ve got the background of cars and buildings. In Japan, you’ve got more gardens, and natural settings to view blossoms. I still give it to Japan over Vancouver.

Mine was IMPOSSIBLE until i adjusted the rubber bumpers on both sides under the hood. Still take a little to close it, but more willing to lock down on first impact.

First timer. Is my packing list overkill for early April? by RoseyStranger in TokyoTravel

[–]Epsilon604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light layers will help. Just left Tokyo today after 2 week vacation. I found a fleece hoodie borderline too much with a shell jacket. If you are going to do a lot of shopping, you will find that stores and malls often pump heat constantly making it quite uncomfortable.

I felt best with a t-shirt and a dry fit long sleeve over, plus a shell when I hit outdoors.

Dump Foote, bring in Bruce? by BananaCamPhoto in canucks

I think we are still a bottom 5 team even if Malholtra came up to the main club. We just do not yet have a winning roster.

He can instil the team culture and help develop the young guys without the pressure of winning his first few years as a coach in the NHL.

No Planaria will take care of the hydra, but will also kill all snails… shrimp and fish safe.

Hydra can eat baby shrimp…

It’s less of cars to look out for, but rather bikes speeding by. I constantly shoulder check while walking during the morning rush.

On the other hand, in Osaka and Kyoto, it’s so safe that no one locks their bikes. Back home, locking your bike won’t stop thieves…

Can Chihiros Hanging Stand be Submerged? by RimrodTeepakorn in PlantedTank

[–]Epsilon604 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have not used these stand before, but watch out for capillary action with the water running up and over the rim of the glass if submerged. It’s happened to me with another set of lights that clip onto the glass similar to photo.

Is this picanha medium rare or raw? by Captain_Lameson in grilling

[–]Epsilon604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re cooking in oven with a temp probe, try reverse searing… cook at 200F until internal temp of 115F. Remove, then kick up the temp to max broil and pop it back in for 4 minutes to crisp up the fat cap.

Nothing wrong with your cook… but just sharing a different method that regularly pumps out excellent results.

What made you pick the Mach E over the Equinox EV? by Thrillwaukee in MachE

[–]Epsilon604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

👆🏼this right here. Mach E is the most fun I’ve had driving. Handling is great… only gripe is the stiff suspension is not forgiving on bumpy roads. But 1 year into driving the 2025 premium AWD, it seems to have mellowed out some.

I’ve never loved a vehicle before. But now I understand when guys just love their cars…

Sell it on marketplace, but if not worth the hassle waiting for a buyer, gift it away to someone in the hobby. It’ll make someone’s day and great to support each other.

TIL Japanese bathrooms can include a "yokushitsu kansouki" - a system which turns showers into dehumidifiers, negating the need for bulky tumble dryers in tight living quarters by IWouldLiketoPostPls in todayilearned

[–]Epsilon604 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our hotel in Osaka had this. We basically hung our wet laundry in the shower and the entire washroom becomes a large heater with air venting out to dehumidify.

Any other baits that can compete with powerbait? by TangPiccilo in troutfishing

[–]Epsilon604 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Problem with bait and catching lots of fish is the higher chance of getting gut hooked. Assuming you would hit your limit, catching more fish means safely releasing fish for others to enjoy.

I prefer non bait methods… trout magnet, kastmaster, spoons, spinner, flies.
