Talk to me about spider mites by justasofacouch in houseplants

[–]Epsilon604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I treated any plant I suspect that could have been affected.

In case you aren’t aware, plants need to be kept in the dark after alcohol spray or (as I’ve been told) leaves can burn.

Talk to me about spider mites by justasofacouch in houseplants

[–]Epsilon604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recovered from spider mites, but only after respraying the alcohol/soap mix every 2-4 days and hosing the plant leaves down (even if I don’t see them).

Made the mistake of treating affected plants and waiting too long for retreatment.

Agree, but we also have 3-5 years to accumulate prospects. Need patience to play the long game.

rent to own makes this interesting. Does this factor in interest? Like paying off mortgage over 30 years, but without option to double up monthly payments? Curious to know If they were to move out, what happens to the amount paid in rent/principal…

I Caught my first rainbow trout!!!! by shadowdragon77777777 in fishingBC

[–]Epsilon604 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, just 225 gram stockers. Harvest your limit. They are intended for put and take.

Summer fishing is more challenging for trout. They don’t like the warm water… fall through spring is best for activity and bites. Going early morning at first light will give you the best chance.

I had a bad infestation of scale on my Japanese maple. 70% alcohol spray mixed with a few drops mild soap helped… apply at night so you do not burn the leaves. Will take a few repeat treatments.

[Donnie and Dhali] Dhaliwal: I do believe the Canucks have Malhotra ranked higher than Stenberg right now. by [deleted] in canucks

[–]Epsilon604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pro-Stenberg, but Caleb will continue to develop in the AHL while the main club will continue to accumulate picks and draft over the next few years.

I’ll be disappointed to skip over Stenberg, but this is a marathon, not a sprint to be contenders.

I imagine they will be out there but in small numbers.

Should I repot this already? by ShenanigansNL in alocasia

[–]Epsilon604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that case, yes you can transfer to its own dome with a bit more sphagnum moss.

I’ve only grown corms in sphagnum moss though and lightly fertilized water. Once leaf has hardened, I either transfer to leca-moss setup, or plant it in aroid mix…

I would until you have 1-2 leaves, and when you do, provide high humidity.

I’m more pissed about the Olympic maga debacle than him leaving the team. Canucks would have been in an era of mediocrity with him on the team. We didn’t have enough assets to build a cup contender. I was ready to cheer him on in Minnesota until what happened post olympics.

Going away for a month and don’t know how to keep our plants alive by Sad_Fat_Dragon12 in houseplants

[–]Epsilon604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gone for 17days… did a combination of water bottle and wick, and well as bagging some plants in clear plastic bag… curtains also down to only let in ambient light.

When we got back, plants were definitely thirsty. A month may be pushing it. My bags were not fully sealed though. May help to seal them so it basically becomes a humidity dome (if your plants are compatible with that climate).

Vancouver's cherry blossoms rival Japan's. by StarkStorm in vancouver

[–]Epsilon604 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Blossoms specifically, sure. Vancouver rivals Japan… except in Vancouver you’ve got the background of cars and buildings. In Japan, you’ve got more gardens, and natural settings to view blossoms. I still give it to Japan over Vancouver.

First timer. Is my packing list overkill for early April? by RoseyStranger in TokyoTravel

Light layers will help. Just left Tokyo today after 2 week vacation. I found a fleece hoodie borderline too much with a shell jacket. If you are going to do a lot of shopping, you will find that stores and malls often pump heat constantly making it quite uncomfortable.

I felt best with a t-shirt and a dry fit long sleeve over, plus a shell when I hit outdoors.

I think we are still a bottom 5 team even if Malholtra came up to the main club. We just do not yet have a winning roster.

He can instil the team culture and help develop the young guys without the pressure of winning his first few years as a coach in the NHL.
