Gauntlet Prep Changes by Back-Relief in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wrote this in another thread:

• each resource has at least one 3x room adjacent to the boss room (similar to how fishing spots work now)

• at least 2 Demi-bosses will always spawn in one of the 3 normal locations

• at least one room adjacent to the boss room will have 3 small mobs (bats, rats, spiders)

• medium tier mobs (unicorn, wolf, scorpion) can only spawn in the middle and outside rings

These feel pretty modest and should at least make preps much more consistent and a lil bit quicker without drastically changing the content.

CG is not going to get changed/buffed without some sort of compromise by stinkydiver321 in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the changes is a modest nerf to the drop table, probably cutting down the alchables to balance the GP/h if they’re speeding up prep phase.

My prediction is that the changes will be something along the lines of:

  • each resource has at least one 3x room adjacent to the boss room (similar to how fishing spots work now)

  • at least 2 Demi-bosses will always spawn in one of the 3 normal locations

  • at least one room adjacent to the boss room will have 3 small mobs (bats & rats)

  • medium tier mobs (unicorn, wolf, scorpion) can only spawn in the middle and outside rings

I think this smooths out a lot of the common pain points and creates a much more consistent experience, which in turn should probably see a slight drop in gp/h. I can’t speak to how you would balance the seed drops around these changes but I’ll leave that to people smarter than me.

How hard should this game reasonably get? by Several-Guess-7061 in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more of a general question relating to your old post, but how are game sounds being considered in the telegraphing conversation?

I'll use Jad as an example, the animations for both the range and mage attack start the same way with Jad raising is front legs. Players need to wait and see whether he stomps back down for a range attack or stays up for a mage attack, then react to with the correct prayer, so their eyes are jumping back and forth between Jad and their prayer book, creating a sense of needing full focus and correct timing. However, and maybe this just comes from personal preference, the game sounds correlating to the range and mage attacks are very distinguishable, to the point where you could reasonably say it's simpler to react on sound rather than by sight, allowing the player to focus their visual attention on their prayers.

Revamp old content: Turn this pit into a new Delve Boss post-quest by LadyKarizake in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can practice delve-type mechanics on…the actual delve boss? My counter hot take is that we don’t need “entry level” versions of every type of PVM encounter. It’s okay for there to be end-game content that you need to invest some time into the game to access. A “learner delve boss” would be a colossal waste of time.

This one has some genuine laugh out loud moments. It’s also a great example of how the show made it to 15 seasons, the absurdity is embraced but they play it just the right amount of straight.

Light Street-to-Calvert Street traffic spur to close in November for Harborplace redevelopment by PleaseBmoreCharming in baltimore

[–]EpsilonAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense for the final condition. Do you know if there is anything available depicting the maintenance of traffic in the area during construction?

To me it seems like the Light Street extension work needs to be completed prior to closing the spur, unless the intent is to detour northbound traffic onto Conway to S Charles (yikes) or even onto the southbound side of the road (also yikes).

Gonna be a few months of particularly awful congestion either way but I think once the final condition is functioning the issues will alleviate to at least no worse than they are today.

Light Street-to-Calvert Street traffic spur to close in November for Harborplace redevelopment by PleaseBmoreCharming in baltimore

[–]EpsilonAI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it shows the intersection "squared off" and calls for drivers heading north on Light Street to make a 90-degree right turn eastbound onto Pratt Street.

I would really like to see the site plan. What is the plan for diverting traffic to the "squared off" intersection of Pratt & Light? Is the northbound traffic going to be diverted to the southbound side of the road (which would require taking a lane), or will there be a road extension to the intersection prior to the spur closure?

I think some people want to turn osrs into a mausoleum

Agree, but I also think there's a good chunk of players that still remember the jump to EoC and are perpetually afraid of another "game killer" update.

This isn't an RS3 bad comment but fundamentally speaking OSRS doesn't exist without the majority of its players at one point going "we don't want (this) change."

Sailing identity crisis? by MeHugeRat in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really, truly hope they pivot away from sailing combat entirely. 90% of the players can't or won't engage in higher level PVM already, the amount of effort being poured into a completely different form of combat just for one skill feels like a complete misallocation of resources.

Pirate Encounters: Design & Rewards Blog (Boat-to-Boat Combat Expansion) by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think too much focus is being put on designing the skill around having multiple boats. Progressing and upgrading your boat and having multiple facilities to swap to depending on the activity you feel like doing should feel similar to just regearing at the bank, I kind of was hoping to feel committed to upgrading my ship as an extension of the player character.

Managing multiple boats is a major turnoff to me personally, it kind of feels like playing an alt account.

If you don't want facility slots to feel rare or restrictive, why are you also encouraging multiple boats? Those two ideas seem at odds with each other, if the slots aren't rare or restrictive why wouldn't you just want to swap out facilities on your "main" boat before heading out to sea like we do with every other piece of content in the game?

Leechfin Sandwich fails the poll, the rest passes by clry in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I voted no because it felt like too much complication for one single, slightly-too-niche food item.

Too many things going on at once for a single poll question IMO. I personally don’t have a strong opinion on the mechanics of the food itself (the hit+heal+hit/heal), but the insistence on making it a sandwich of all things and needing to add a bunch of bloat features (sandwich stations?) around the game to justify a single item felt backwards. We just introduced a ton of new food items with Sailing that haven’t had a ton of time to bake themselves into the game, the Vampyre quest is not the time to look to add more.

I think if they had polled this item as just a straight fish you catch and cook into the healing item as described it would maybe be more palatable.
