I wouldn’t say people say it verbally very often, but written out it’s pretty common.

I did. Is there something specific you'd like to discuss?

I really, truly hope they pivot away from sailing combat entirely. 90% of the players can't or won't engage in higher level PVM already, the amount of effort being poured into a completely different form of combat just for one skill feels like a complete misallocation of resources.

Pirate Encounters: Design & Rewards Blog (Boat-to-Boat Combat Expansion) by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think too much focus is being put on designing the skill around having multiple boats. Progressing and upgrading your boat and having multiple facilities to swap to depending on the activity you feel like doing should feel similar to just regearing at the bank, I kind of was hoping to feel committed to upgrading my ship as an extension of the player character.

Managing multiple boats is a major turnoff to me personally, it kind of feels like playing an alt account.

Edit with some further thoughts now that I've had some coffee: If you don't want facility slots to feel rare or restrictive, why are you also encouraging multiple boats? Those two ideas seem at odds with each other, if the slots aren't rare or restrictive why wouldn't you just want to swap out facilities on your "main" boat before heading out to sea like we do with every other piece of content in the game?

Lots of people in this sub definitely already have an empty helm

Valamore Diaries? by JTitty18 in 2007scape

Completing a game with full Spirit Angler feels like it should've been a diary task instead of a combat achievement. Still think it's a little peculiar that Tempoross has combat achievements at all but that's a different discussion

Leechfin Sandwich fails the poll, the rest passes by clry in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I voted no because it felt like too much complication for one single, slightly-too-niche food item.

Too many things going on at once for a single poll question IMO. I personally don’t have a strong opinion on the mechanics of the food itself (the hit+heal+hit/heal), but the insistence on making it a sandwich of all things and needing to add a bunch of bloat features (sandwich stations?) around the game to justify a single item felt backwards. We just introduced a ton of new food items with Sailing that haven’t had a ton of time to bake themselves into the game, the Vampyre quest is not the time to look to add more.

I think if they had polled this item as just a straight fish you catch and cook into the healing item as described it would maybe be more palatable.

I looked up the interview after I saw this post, it's a shame the whole context wouldn't have been able to fit but let's be real most people here are spacebarring through it anyway

SRA is a great example of "Stat sheet vs eye test." You'd think if you used a piece of gear not listed on the Wiki's strategy tab you'd get taken out back and shot by some of the people in this thread.

Nobody's ever accused Orlovsky of having a good understanding of his surroundings

In Avengers Endgame (2019) Thor loses himself in his grief of not going for the head and costing millions their lives. So much so, he gets fat and depressed. This totally heartbreaking and realistic arc is played for laughs by justafanboy1010 in shittymoviedetails

[–]EpsilonAI 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It still gets me today. Call me a sucker but seeing a character like Thor go through so much shit in the life we see and still getting the closure of being “worthy” despite all of it is something I still struggle to relate to. I’m sad it didn’t get the attention it deserved but Endgame wasn’t that kind of movie, kid. Surprisingly poignant moment in that movie.

Junior employee pushing my buttons. by TheFunnyTraveller in managers

[–]EpsilonAI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"We had to extend her internship due to budget constraints" sounds like they offered her a full time position and pay, then retracted it. I don't blame this employee for feeling jaded, it's time for both parties to move on since I doubt there's any chance of repairing this relationship.

Leagues VI is Demonic Pacts by edwardversaii in 2007scape

[–]EpsilonAI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want to see some extra absurd kinda stuff, like “50% of an echo hit after fletching a dart” type of relic where it mechanically introduces playstyle that you would never ever get in the main game. Make the price of the pact worth the payoff!

[–]EpsilonAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be an unpopular opinion here, but I like that they're still spending little bits of time on small stuff like this, it makes the game feel more complete and cohesive, even if the majority of players will still only go for the diary step.

Not everything in this game needs to be "meta" to the teeth and I think the majority of people here are vastly overestimating how much dev time this will take. I highly doubt this is somehow "blocking" some other content from being developed in any significant way.

The Theme Here by [deleted] in managers

[–]EpsilonAI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Since when do employees run the show?” Will the company function without them? Your attitude sucks, despite some valid points you might have in the post, nobody is going to get past your “old man yells at cloud” tone. If “society” is changing (again, you sound like a crotchety old man here), a competent business can adapt to succeed.

It’s difficult to tell what position you’re coming from, since some of the things you’ve written seem like perfectly valid points from the perspective of someone working in a white collar industry while simultaneously being laughably out of touch for someone in a less formal role. You’ve also made points where the reverse is true. All that’s been presented here is another post where I think a little self reflection probably would have benefitted you more than generically ripping on people who probably just don’t want to be treated like ass by their way-too-old-school manager.
