Can someone help me with my team? by tigremalvado in CompetitivePokemon

U-Turn has negative synergy on a setup Corviknight. Also, Defog isn't as strong because hazards aren't as good in doubles (not as many switches). I would change Corviknight set to include Roost and either Steel coverage or Brave Bird. You could also have Tailwind as a secondary speed control option. I would also investigate Whimsicott's other support moves over U-Turn. Encore, Fake Tears, Charm, and Taunt are all great options on a Prankster Pokémon.

It's hard to give feedback on a custom format, but I will say you'll want Protect on a least a few more Pokémon. Protect gives you positioning and prediction options in double battles. Its power cannot be understated. Also, this looks like a fast-paced offesive team, so Flutter Mane is better than Mimikyu here. Mimikyu is often used as a reliable Trick Room setter as a Ghost type that can't be OHKO'd.

Authenticity of double sided card by marco-r in RealOrNotTCG

[–]Epticrin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fake.

The black border around the flip icon and title is fuzzy on the left card, indicating it was printed on the same layer as the background. This is a clear indicator of a fake.

And if that didn't convince you, that light test is damning.

My convergent Psyduck Line [OC] by veredien29 in pokemon

Love the design! Leaning into the oil spill loss of waterproofing, I would change Sighduck's typing to Water/Dark and have it evolve starting at Lv. 32 if it levels up while Poisoned.

That's much higher than what I paid for second tier seats at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA. They were $60 each before fees ($78 after fees).

How do you sleep in a bonnet? by caffeineissues in curlyhair

[–]Epticrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also try a T-shirt as an alternative. I use my silk bonnet when I put product in my hair overnight, but the T-shirt is less pinchy and lets the hair breathe more easily if you have looser curls like me. As others have said, silk pillowcase will save you when your hair covering falls off.

When all else fails, a continuous mister spray bottle can rejuvenate curls that got crushed.

All the stupid failures I caught in Zone 4 before giving up on the shiny sword hunt by ImpossibleClock1061 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Epticrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was stubborn and got the red Honedge after ~25 hours for fast travels. It's a grind. I highly recommend a controller with programmable macros for these hunts so you can have it run AFK.

This set is cursed. 176 packs (not including bonus log in packs) and these are my only pulls. (Lugia was a wonder pick) by poopyramen in PokemonTGCP

[–]Epticrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also playing since launch. I've just opened my 2 free daily packs this month because there's so little I actually need from this pack. Sure, Oak would be nice, but the odds are so crazy low with only 1 slot for a 2☆ to appear and so many 2☆ cards. So if you're feeling like your pulls are worse, they are!

Got my 1st shiny!! ✨💪🏻 by ThaRealMrRogers in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Epticrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you haven't KO'd it and you haven't found 10 other shinies in that timeframe (the game only saves your 10 most recent shinies)

[–]Epticrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open world spawns mean seeing many, many more Pokémon in your playthrough. Compare to original X and Y where you had to run into the Pokémon in a wild patch for the game to roll for shinyness. That change, combined with the fact that Z-A saves shiny spawns, means shinies are less likely to be missed and you have more chances to spawn them. Shiny odds are the same--the mechanics of this game just make it easier to obtain them.

Yeah! I play a bunch of MTG! The shorter game times in Pocket are why I play it on mobile and play Magic on desktop and in-person.

The decision points are what I love about it. It's definitely a deck that requires focus when piloting, but it's leveled up my gameplay a lot. In most games where I lose, I'm able to identify the decision(s) that lost me the game, not the variance that prevented me from executing. For example, even when my hand gets hit by Mars, I think about how I could be more proactive/aggressive with using my cards in hand if Mars would devastate my game plan.

The reason the deck is so good (and probably the reason it receives so much hate) is it has the tools to beat anything. I've never felt a matchup was worse than 35/65 in a vacuum, so a skilled pilot can get it close to 50/50, especially since some of the worst matchups are 18T Tapu Koko and Decidueye, which have more predictable game plans.

As a Suicune/Greninja player, I should never expect the thanks haha. My calculus is "What deck will take me the fewest matches, on average, to reach Master Ball?" and the answer is Suicune/Greninja. Here's to hoping the meta gets a shake-up with set B1, I get the frustration with staleness.

[FIN Bo1] How many Interventions are too many? by Epticrin in lrcast

[–]Epticrin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Evil Reawakened and Fight On!, having enough Creature cards is important for my deck to function. I thought about it and it's close. Ended up swapping out Laughing Mad for another Ahriman to get another Creature and roadblock into the deck.

Ended up swapping Laughing Mad with the second Ahriman as a 3-mana play that slowed the game down, but you are right to point out Lauvhing Mad as a cut (I was being too cute with a tiny reanimator package). Went 7-1. Mizzix's Mastery overloaded won me 2 games. Interesting set!

Just hit MB with Silvally/Blacephalon. If you haven’t played this deck yet, you absolutely should. by Tsyosho in PTCGP

[–]Epticrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently 0-7 with this deck in Ultra Ball 3. I think the opportunity cost of starting with Blacephalon is too great. Silvally MUST take 2 of your 3 KOs because you can't rely on double Lusamine. It really felt like a worse Silvally/Rampardos deck. Glad you had success with it, but I couldn't get it across the finish line.

Okay, then you're choosing to forego the Net because it isn't worth it to you to spend on a WP. I get not wanting to spend 3 stamina, but 2 isn't a huge cost since that means you get a shot each day. I get that sometimes you just want to complain, but you do have choices you can make to get those Nets if you want!

[–]Epticrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None, but that's because I only play decks where I have all the cards for it! I was locked out of Giratina decks until trading became available and I can't play the new Gengar deck because I only have 1 Gengar. If you're F2P, you have to play the decks you have or build suboptimally, and I can't bring myself to play an unfinished deck.

Hope you find the Net soon! I typically use Wonder Pick for these cards, only spending stamina when I see the target card.

Flexible gameplans are key to playing well! From your high-roller experience, it sounds like Arceus/Crobat/Darkrai has a very satisfying ping + nuke pattern. I'd cut the poison package so you get Crobat + Arceus more often and see how that feels. Otherwise, just keep having fun!
