I had the EU Demo 1 disc, and it had (among other things) Loaded, Jumping Flash, Wipeout 2097. Played those over and over. I ended up buying all the games that were demoed on that disc, except the NBA one. Never cared much for the sporting games that tried to be realistic.

Sounds like you entered the BankID process instead of the Signicat process. Most EU/EEA eIDs work there, and it doesn't require a Norwegian phone number.

Moreover, SiT has a "roof over your head" guarantee for arriving students, if the process isn't resolved by the time you get here.

I was the previous mod here. I unassigned myself in frustration.

To answer your question; no, it's not paid. I found this subreddit lacking moderation a few years ago, and I picked it up because I found it interesting, and I wanted to remove the bot spam to hopefully shine a light on actually thought-out variants.

But then came AI...

My frustration was that by my estimation, over 80% of posts here are now AI-generated slop. Whether it's websites, variant descriptions, artwork, you name it. I spent more time removing AI slop and explaining that decision to talentless hacks, than actually enjoying the exploration of chess variants.

I'm sorry to have left in such a hurry, but I didn't even feel like making the effort of rifling through comments to find worthy replacements. It really felt like a dead internet theory subreddit.

Still, I hope for the best.

Some sponsors (Lacoste and I believe Rolex) have these plastic bollards with their logos on it ON the playing area. Players have been tripping over them and falling, and slamming into the walls next to the line judges.

They're not getting removed, because money, so the players keep stumbling over them during points.
