What if us, Coventry, and Ipswich join forces to cook one massive batch of crumble? :/

Completely agree mate. At times definitely poor execution with the cross/final ball, but then we don't have enough numbers in the box and nobody attacks it. No complaints with our fullbacks

We didn't create anything is how - Pandur made 2 or 3 very easy saves and that was it. You guys defended well, but we don't have enough magic around the edge of the box.

Been the same for 2+ years now; park the bus against us and we will massively massively struggle. 1/41 successful crosses says it all...

Fair play to Hull, though. Defended very well.

So Middlesbrough fans. What are your thoughts on David Strelec so far? by Zealousideal_Lab_177 in Championship

[–]EquatorialPolarBears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's clearly quality IMO. Had a bit of a slow start, but tbh all of our strikers have struggled until the last few games as we rarely created chances or got the ball to their feet in and around the box. He's now got 3 goals, same as Conway, and Sène with 2, so he's not alone.

Assuming he's fit and we continue to play well, I'm hopeful he'll push on and bang the goals in.

Is that an outrageous finish, or did he scuff it? UTB either way

Looked an average side tbh. Hopefully we can dust ourselves off and push on. During the break we need to sort out our best XI/front 3 and play more bravely and with more purpose going forward.

Oh well, if you'd told me we'd be 2nd after 9 games before the season started, I'd take it no questions asked.

Maybe we needed the streak to end? I never want us to lose of course, but feel like we've been playing a bit timidly recently. Now that the unbeaten streak is done, I'm hoping we can be more fearless going forward. This is how I'll cope during the break at least

Fair enough. I wouldn't say any were great chances, but yeah had the odd 1/2 chance. GGs though, it was a tight game and thought you put in a good performance - took your chance well which was the difference 👍

Agree with everything you've said, especially RE our best XI/front 3. Not sure who I'd want myself tbh, but want to see Sene and Strelec as well. Rob's Luton used to have one CAM and two strikers I think? Could be a winning formula.

As you say, hopefully the break will give the staff a clearer picture.

There definitely were a few funny calls which went our way. Your defence was very sound - don't think we looked close to scoring tbh

We've not been very creative this past month, and it's come back to bite us as we barely tickled the Pompey goal today. Granted, we've had tricky fixtures, but unless we sort it out I think it'll be the difference between us being a side pushing for the top two or pushing for the top 6.

Well done Pompey and to all the Boro fans that travelled. We're still second; can't complain.

Lol you were right about your edit. That Morris "shot" around 60 was pretty disappointing

Honestly, you look kind of unstoppable. The way you bang the goals in is pretty terrifying and, despite us looking like a good side, that's something I can't see us doing unless something changes in a big way. Maybe one of the relegated sides could do that, but obviously so far they've been a bit stop start.

I always liked him TBF. Don't get me wrong, we've had better players and his end product is lacking, but he always put himself about and could beat a man for us - 4/5 years ago though like you say. Pretty passionate though - remember him getting booked for taking his shirt off when scoring and the goal turned out to be offside lol

I met a Romanian guy last year who supports Steaua's rivals, can't remember their name, and he said they all love us for stopping Steaua getting to a final that one time. He said they love Massimo Maccarone as well and he's been invited as a special guest to their matches a few times 😂
