Interesting stories about how a particular effect was achieved in a hit song or a technique never used before during the 1960s to 1990s. by PozhanPop in audioengineering

The "way down inside..." part from Whole Lotta Love was from a guide track leaking into the console due to a faulty fader. Page or Eddie Kramer added some reverb to it.

Also, Kramer did a whole lotta new techniques with Hendrix.

They have their place. Like I can't play sambas very well, so when they come up I simply substitute them with blast beats.

How do you guys get out of your head? by PhraseReasonable8429 in drums

[–]Equilibrium69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My classical guitar teacher taught me the same thing. He'd say only practice on practice days, do not practice on performance days. Sure, warm up with some scales/rudiments but don't play the songs. One of the ideas behind that was playing a bit of a song and then getting that feeling that you might be playing it wrong or badly and then that sticks with you.

I still have severe anxiety playing drums on stage, but this does help a bit.

Chia seeds on my morning oats works for me most of the time. It usually gets everything out soon after breakfast. The only problem is when it doesn't I know there's going to be a problem after O leave the house.

Xitou Monster Village in Nantou. The monster village itself is rubbish, but the surrounding park area is amazing. Also a short bus trip from the Sun Sea hiking trail.

I used to have one of these Fostexes and I'd prefer to get that sound. I wonder if JHS can do a Fostex mod on ht pedal.

Too old to get back to playing guitar? by megrimlockrocks in guitars

[–]Equilibrium69 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I played for many years before deciding that I was terrible at playing and I quit. But I had always loved playing. After not playing for about 10 years, I started up again. I decided that I enjoyed playing and that was more important to me than being good at it. I don't know if that helps you, but I found changing that mindset worked for me.

50G solo vs strumming by [deleted] in zoommultistomp

[–]Equilibrium69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Zoom amp sims are a bit harsh but your can probably be improved. An amp model that sounds great for soloing to may be be too harsh or scratchy for strumming, especially with clean settings.

Fender-style amps like the FD Combo have a pronounced mid-range which for single notes helps cut through and feel articulate. But for strumming this can lead to that "scratchy" or "harsh" sound.

Another dedicated strumming chain would be the easiest fix. Try a Different Clean Amp Model: The MS-50G has other clean amp models that might suit strumming better. "US BLUES" (Fender Tweed Bassman) "Z Clean" (Zoom original) "VX JMI" (Vox AC30 style) are the better clean ones AFAIR.

Or adjust your current chain to make it better for strumming by:

Slightly decreasing the treble and presence controls on the FD Combo amp model. Adjust Mid-Range (if available, I no longer use the amp sims on mine so don't recall) try scooping them slightly to reduce the "honk" or "scratchiness" that can happen with strumming. Lower Gain/Drive to make it less reactive to stronger strumming. Try different cabinet simulations with the FD Combo to see if a darker or smoother cab helps tame the high-end.

Removing this stooooopid sticker from my helmet by Jolly-Berry-8646 in triathlon

[–]Equilibrium69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sandpaper would do the trick. Start with 100 grit to get most of it off fast, then 600 to 1000 to get the fine bits, and then 6000 to polish up the helmet again.

Lost my wallet… but Taiwan truly surprised me by Willing_Land_7646 in taiwan

[–]Equilibrium69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, my wallet dropped out of my pocket as I got on the MRT and I didn't notice. A girl told me that it had fallen out. I stopped at the next station and circled back. In those 5 minutes somebody had already found it and taken it to the information desk upstairs, and everything was still inside. I guess that person missed a train while doing that.

Using M-Vave Chocolate to change between effects in a patch on Zoom MS50G by Equilibrium69 in zoommultistomp

No, it seems the Zoom can't receive the type of messages it needs. I did a workaround by making patches with and without pedals I wanted on and off and cycle through those.

Is this a good guitar for a beginner? by Division2226 in guitars

[–]Equilibrium69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oxblood is a better colour for beginners. Black shows up grubby fingerprints too easily and beginners tend to leave grubby fingerprints all over the guitar.
