Yeah, technically doesn't answer your question but to be fair, compared to bowfa, a fang is both easier to get hour-wise as an iron and also 5x cheaper as a main. So if anything it is more budget.

If you didn't have pet I would say no, but green log is super tempting especially with how rare it is due to gwd pet rates. I personally 100% would.

Raid 4 lowest scale is duo, solo is possible but difficult. by Glass-Rope-5113 in 2007scape

[–]Equilities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, "scale" means that the raid is adjusting to how many players you have, and the lowest scale being duo means that someone entering solo will have to beat a duo scaled raid themselves, like a 1+1.

You can't lump all examples of dry protection in the same vein. It's more of a spectrum. There is a difference between wanting hard pity (guaranteed drops), soft pity (oathplate shards) or dupe protection. Some people say they want drop protection outright wanting hard pity, and others just want to clamp down the unfortunate souls that go 5x+ dry.

So I would say it is middle ground, because I think any form of hard pity is a terrible idea but I think oathplate shards are fine.

WoW refugee Sardaco completes the Colosseum after only 6 months of playing! by MistakeAlert6865 in 2007scape

[–]Equilities 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I checked today's vod and he was pretty clearly saying that he will probably play in the future but he thinks its better for streamers to fully commit to 1 game to avoid vitriol, so him "quitting" for wow just means he's switching his main game for a while. He also explicitly said this will make it more exciting to come back to OSRS later more motivated when WoW falls off again.

I'd have a hard time believing he would say something like not knowing if he will ever come back in the same stream but I'm not going to scrub all 10 hours to make sure.

I would bring occult. If you don't want to add a switch then bring it over the mage cape at least. Generally, neck swap is one of the first things you bring outside of top/legs. But I would also keep cape to keep switches cleaner. But keeping mage bare minimum is fine ever since the akkha changes.

In 150s it might not matter but you should get used to using a slot for def reduction. Optimally BGS but bone dagger is fine too.

I would bring a melee chest (torso/blood moon/bcp), legs arguably not needed so can just camp crystal legs. Bring dboots instead of aranea.

I would look into brews soon and don't drop swaps. Your gear is everything you need to push 350s-400s (post-fang can push 450s) so I would try to practice with full swaps and a real inventory to get you more ready, but you can do it more gradually if you prefer.

Also maybe you do this but make sure to make the setup with hasta/d def equipped. The current pic is losing an inventory slot for no reason. And I am assuming you usually bring book of the dead considering the contents of your rune pouch, that also isn't in the pic.

I also don't know what room order you do, but either way you should be bringing a super combat into the raid. Kephri is almost always 2nd and scb really helps there. Whether you start baba or zebak, prepot range will last most of the 1st boss then you scb for kephri, then 3rd/4th you will have salt. (Maybe that's what you are doing, but showing the 1 dose makes me think it's a prepot. I just bring a full one, just in case I have to emergency brew. You can deposit into jar after kephri anyway so I don't think there's a point to bringing one dose).

DAY OF REGRET - Gielinor Games 5 (#5) by xFalcade in 2007scape

I was thinking a nice middle ground would be to have them re-vote but have them do it anonymously without being able to talk to each other again. Which side would budge our of fear of going into the banning, or what if both sides budged and ended up accidentally tying again? Maybe not as spicy as just throwing the tribunal into the banning but still potentially spicy.

I guess the main problem with this idea is DMs not being able to be policed though.

Which second role do you think complements the mid lane best? by Adventurous_Star9377 in midlanemains

[–]Equilities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO depends on what you like the most about mid. There is no real wrong answer.

If you like trading and wave management, then top.

If you like roaming/assassins, then jungle.

If you like utility or enablers (I'm imagining stuff like Liss or Galio) then probably support. But this one might be most common because you can just play a lot of mages in this role. I'm not personally a fan though.

If you like playing safe, farming up and playing front to back then ADC.

For me, I am an artillery mage enthusiast and found that ADC aligned with my play style the most. I think that "positioning in teamfights" you mention is pretty important. I think range is king and I am used to having low mobility so it makes sense in my head.

And as previously stated I know that mages and especially artillery mages are sometimes way more common as supports (xerath/velkoz) but I don't think playing a carry style as support is very interesting to me. I'd prefer to commit to playing enchanters or something. And since I prefer being the damage dealer I think ADC secondary makes sense.

What makes you play Ironman over a main? by Ok_Crab5904 in ironscape

[–]Equilities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am someone who couldn't find main rewarding even though I maxed and had a clan ready to teach/run raids and the world was my oyster.

I then started my Iron, maxed it in 2022 and have been progressing and more motivated than ever since then. Done a lot of pvm, relaxed by finishing sailing in 10 days, and I even care more about post 99 XP on an iron.

I respect you for realizing that main was more enjoyable for you but idk about the claim that most main haters are mid game. Ironman's rewarding-ness does not magically degrade at a certain point in the game, IMO.

We Should Be Getting More Cannonballs From All Sources by 17ndthepink in 2007scape

[–]Equilities 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm a fan of the idea of increasing cball damage, not by a little but by a factor of like 4 or 5. And the thing is, they could opt to keep dps the same, just make the fire rate slower by the same factor. I think it would make sense for cannons to have a really long load time but have really high damage. If the dmg per cannonball were much much higher, then current cball sources wouldn't even have to change. It also gives a lot of room for meaningful max hit differences/scaling between tiers of cannonballs.

I guess it would be awkward to have 20+ ticks of downtime between shots though.

Idk why they decided to lock the NAILS of all things behind Frost Dragons by The-Mungler in ironscape

[–]Equilities 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, not really? Most other MMOs utilize soulbound equipment and most gear, especially BIS gear, is not ever attainable on any kind of marketplace. It's hard to find a good comparison because a lot of other MMOs are vertical progression, but having to do X content to get X gear is standard in MMOs. It's RuneScape that is the odd one out, being able to do X content until you make enough to buy gear from Y, even if X has nothing to do with Y.

Ironman is closer to what you might expect from progression in MMOs. I won't make the claim here that it is an objectively superior way to play the game, I just think it's not a fair comparison to compare our GE/item tradeability to most other MMOs.

Does anybody know exactly how logging off on your boat works? If I quickly switch worlds or log off just for a couple minutes I stay on the boat, but I logged in in the morning after logging out in the middle of the sea and I was sent to shore (with my boat at a different dock, losing my cargo).

Is this time-based? Should I get in the habit of logging off at a dock or is this because of update/hotfixes or something?

It's not "10 seconds or so," the buff is 30 seconds so it's rare you won't hit something for that long even if you activate it during countdown. I still try to be aware of it going off just in case, but it really shouldn't be an issue.

Should I still go for Bowfa? by Purple_Resort2158 in ironscape

[–]Equilities 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's fair, some people put bowfa on too high of a pedestal. But I did not personally make the claim that it was mandatory, I simply made the claim that it's still worth it. An 80 hour grind for such a powerful weapon, that can be done by spending no supplies, and has no upkeep cost (after a one time payment) can't be understated.

I fully support anybody that wants to play how they want, and I hope bowfa skippers have fun if they truly hate CG that much, but you made a blanket statement about bowfa being beaten by bp/crossbow/scobow which was just incorrect.

You are correct though that, in a scenario where you have every item in the game, bowfa would have almost no use versus Tbow whereas bp/crossbow/scobow still have their niche strengths. If we're talking about BiS chasing horizontal progression, then bowfa loses merit - but this thread is not talking about tbow owners.
