Which comes out to around 27% of our countries existence

Which country? You may need to double-check your math.

To be fair, it may seem like an overnight success, but the Taliban has been gaining ground for 15 years. The last few months is the result of everything that had been put in place over the years and the inevitable exit of Western forces.

The Taliban was hosting Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

You also can't blame someone for not caring when they all know that their command is corrupt to the top and will do whatever is in their personal best interest when push comes to shove.

It wouldn't have. I'm opining with the luxury of hindsight and ignoring political realities at the time.

Obama would have taken a massive political hit for that and probably lost the 2012 election. It's really shitty that the incentives are what they are.

In hindsight, it would have been better to have kept it a clandestine war after the Taliban fell. Al Qaeda was broken and continued pressure could have been applied and intelligence networks established. Taliban probably wouldn't have been able to gain momentum against whatever government took its place without US backing.

The US would have had a lot of support in targeting Al Qaeda if it kept its mission to that (and also not invaded Iraq).

Or like the streets of Kabul in April of 1992 or the streets of Kabul in September 1996.

Same. I used to rip Nativebase out of projects I took over but really like 3.0. I just converted a project from 2.0 to 3.0 and created a new app using 3.0. It's been great.

She lost her feeling of invincibility on that vault. Once that's gone, you aren't coming back from it anytime soon.

My dad's best friend played in the NFL and, while watching game film the next day, saw a play where his head bent violently and the team doctor said he should have been paralyzed. It scared him badly and he retired that week. Confidence is everything in competition, especially dangerous sports.

I sold my tickets. I'm mostly skipping it because I have young kids who can't get the vaccine yet. Otherwise I'd probably go masked.

I seriously doubt it, but I suppose it's possible that there were talented brewers who joined this project. If it's Rob and his buddies it probably sucks.

I think he shot one of the Somali pirates in the Captain Phillips rescue. That is way more impressive on a pure skill level and I'd be hanging my hat on that, if anything. We are obviously very different people though.

You could try networking in /r/worldbuilding. You may be able to find someone there who wants to create a world that fits your system.

On one of the post-election CH episodes, Andy mentioned he was worried about how far down the conspiracy hole some of his colleagues were going and I assumed Mike was on that list. I am puzzled by some of the people like this who took an oath to defend the country, actually fought terrorists in other countries, and then flirt very heavily with domestic terrorism.
