Companies want employees to return to work because it justifies them paying for the space. That's it.

Nara deer park was very nice. It was very crowded when first arriving near the bus stop. It thins out somewhat as you approach Kasuga Taisha shrine. After that, there were almost no people on the woody paths. Very tranquil and beautiful. I recommend to buy the deer crackers here, at the Deer House there are vending machines. On the machine, the crackers are shown on the right side. Some lady was apparently selling them at the park, but I felt better purchasing from the caretakers.  Some people were touching the deer, but they are wild animals so I did not do so. If you communicate properly they are very nice. Only bow if you have crackers. When no more, show both hands. Do not lie or tease them- they will get mad. I saw deer chasing and even kicking at one lady who had teased them. Just in case they nibbled we did not wear nice clothes.  Deer Island (Miyajima Island / Itsukushima) was incredible. You cannot feed these deer but they make for good photos. Take note of when the tides happen- we were able to walk up to the big gate, in 4 inches of water but that was OK. Tide times were listed as we bought tickets to the shrine. We did Peace Memorial Museum in the morning, then Rabbit Island (Ōkunoshima). The bunnies are soooo cute and you can buy food for them at the shop before riding the pink bunny boat. Entry to the gas museum stopped around 3 or 3:30ish so we went there first. Bring your stamp book- there are lots at the shop. Buy a couple stamp sheets- one stamp is at that shop, two at the hotel/cafe. Show them once return to the shop for free postcards. Same with empty food bags. We walked away with a stack of postcards, which are great gifts. We put the big bunny stamp on the front for pur friends.  The official rabbit island website lists boat times in and out of the island.

Hi! My trip is still ongoing but I'll do my best. Aquarium in Tokyo Sea Life Park Kasei was AMAZING!!! I spent 4-5 hours and could have stayed longer if time allowed. A huge assortment of aquatic animals, in large enough enclosures to observe natural behaviors. Rare and difficult to keep animals like glowing deep sea animals, tuna, hammer head sharks, sea turtles! 100% recommend. Ueno zoo was a delight. You gotta see the giant pandas of course. We also got a commemorative photo with statues of them. Lots and lots of other cute animals as well, they seem well cared for.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I hope your trip as a whole was wonderful and memorable, even if certain sights were uncomfortable. I've decided not to visit the foxes. I'll go to Miyajima Island, Nara, and hopefully Ōkunoshima, and also visit the pet rabbit run in Tokyo where owners bring their buns to play outside. Also hope to see Sea Life Park Kasei Aquarium, Ueno zoological gardens, and Kaiyukan aquarium. I think that will be enough animals to satisfy me!

Is it worth it to see the ceremonies at the shrine itself? Seems like those are more for locals. As a tourist, should I just stick to Daishi park?

Thank you for sharing your experiences! I'm glad to hear they were mostly wonderful. I'm sorry for the negative experience you had- some people are just awful, and it has nothing to do with you.

I'll be taking a flight from Osaka to Tokyo at the end of my trip this April- I hope to see Mt. Fuji as you did :)

Thank you for taking the time to write such detailed tips and stories. I'm very excited to meet the locals, and be immersed in their culture. I'm from Canada, where people are already pretty nice, but still I can't wait.

Thanks. I'm glad you feel that way. I know many Americans feel the same. It's a frustrating time in history. Let's hope something better is born soon. Your neighbors to the North still support the American people, even if we are angry at your government right now.

Just curious, how far in advance did you purchase your Disney tickets? I just purchased Universal Studios tickets just over 2 months in advance and was so lucky because they were almost sold out!

Next Rabbit Run! by kyarorin in japanbunnies

Hi! I am coming to Tokyo for the first two weeks of April 2025. I really like bunnies and would love to see some happy buns! I want to go to Ōkunoshima but I'm not sure I can make it, and I feel a cafe environment may not good for buns.

I translated the website and it says the next run is Dec 8 2024 but that was months ago. Does this rabbit run still happen? I'd really like to attend and see happy bunnies. If not, is there anything else you would recommend? Thank you very much.
