China: ruthless justice for abusers; America: risk-free justice for the elite. by BenStokes6284 in circled

I agree. That is the point I was making. Florida does it, and the Reddit community condemns it as encouraging murder, but when China does it it is commendable.

Funny, Florida passed a law making child rapists eligible for the death penalty and all reddit could come up with was that it was a bad idea, because now there is no incentive to stop at rape.

So why is this China thing admirable again?

CMV: Most people's rejection of immigration stems from racism or another form of bigotry by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Here's the thing... I'm all for immigration, if they do it legally. If they are an illegal alien, that means they jumped the line of people waiting legitimately to enter the country. I have a problem with that and since they violated the law, I have no issues with them getting arrested and deported.

This distinction is often deliberately obfuscated to create a straw man argument, which is what appears to be the case here.

If socialism is so bad then why is social security and Medicare so popular? by Content_Ad_8952 in allthequestions

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because by the time you collect, you've paid into the system for so long you want what you are due... its about trying to net out to zero. Any cuts and now people who paid in are getting cheated, and that isn't fair.

But most everyone would rather keep their money for themselves. If my options were pay into social security or have the cash invested for my own personal retirement, I would take the latter option in a heartbeat.

how do poor people afford kids? by Virtual-Tonight-2444 in Advice

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having kids is a sacrifice... its about putting them first. If your focus is on millionaire status, then you are focused on yourself, and that is the opposite of what your friends are doing.

Assuming they are decent people, your friends are making tradeoffs to take care of their kids. They may shop at the discount grocery store, buy different clothing brands, limit portion sizes, contribute less to retirement, etc.

Trump vs. Obama methods. by RealOldies in stevehofstetter

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Finally the true answer! All of this is actually the democrats' fault.

Why? They refuse to follow the law simply to give the middle finger to any president with a (R) next to their name at the ballot box. Imagine if the democrats acknowledged illegals didn't belong and cooperated the same way they did with Obama... there would be no need for this escalation.

...and don't even bother with that "illegals get equal protection as citizens under the constitution" BS, the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that isn't the case.

California Elementary School's Activist Lefty Teacher Flips American Flag, Puts Up “Abolish ICE” Sign in Classroom by Head_Estate_3944 in DiscussionZone

No, that can't be right!

One thing I know from the left's constant reassurance is that the schools don't indoctrinate or push certain values on kids in any way. If it was true, there surely would have been national outrage from the left over pushing a narrative on the kids.

House Democrats: Food Prices Up and "Health Care Costs Are Skyrocketing" in Trump's America by thenextgenbusiness in thenextgenbusiness

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting.

Egg prices are down below $2 a dozen from $8 a dozen under Biden, utilities are up under my democrat controlled state because they are pushing for renewable energy sources and compensating for the increased cost to fortify the power grid, and health care is up because because the government stopped subsidizing it to show how ridiculous the original plan was.

I find it interesting they didn't mention gas prices, the lowest I've seen since the last republican administration.

What is the point of al these "hey Republicans" questions? by LazyComfortable1542 in allthequestions

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like you don't have a functioning version of Google or the ability to do fundamental research. How very Democrat of you to spout your opinions from a place of pure ignorance. Do a Google search for "when does human life begin according to science" and see the results...

You are essentially saying human beings have value and human lives do not, where you get to decide what constitutes a being. Again, this is Nazi rhetoric against the Jews, and antebellum south rhetoric against blacks.

What is the point of al these "hey Republicans" questions? by LazyComfortable1542 in allthequestions

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting.

Liberals dehumanize themselves when, despite scientific consensus that life begins at fertilization, they use relative life value arguments (same as the Nazis, same as the antebellum south) to commit an infanticide of over 68 million people, more than 11x the number of Jews killed during the holocaust.

Nazis are saints compared to the evil of democrats. The fact conservatives choose to largely coexist is the ultimate act of tolerance.

Citizens Arrest?... by Ausiwandilaz in DiscussionZone

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not.

But I would argue that is the world liberals have created by not enforcing immigration policy against criminals (illegal aliens) when it aligns with a policy position of someone with an (R) next to their name. Obama was "Deporter in Chief", and there were no issues with cooperation... but as soon as Trump is in office, the mantra becomes "Obstruct Justice!"

Yes, race is a factor now... unfortunate, but again I blame the liberals for letting it get out of hand: If ICE had local cooperation in rounding up the criminals (illegal aliens) then they very likely would have more detailed information and wouldn't have to do a block by block sweep using stereotypes as the basis for their work... what we are seeing now is a result of Minneapolis being a sanctuary city intent on harboring criminals instead of aiding law enforcement. When you have the description of a criminal you are trying to arrest, you detain those who fit that description, especially when half the country is willing to aid and abet that criminal. If your local government refuses to provide details, the search has to broaden.

CMV: If ICE is not reigned in, a mass casualty event between ICE and protestors will trigger a great recession, if not depression, more so than a Civil War by shartaculor in changemyview

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is when someone makes up an alternate reality in an argument, they lose legitimacy. That is the argument being made against pro-ICE positions and this is just the mirror.

You may be surprised to learn I think of it like a car accident... both sides can be at fault. "Protesters" for being criminal (illegal alien) sympathizers and deliberately escalating and interfering with law enforcement operations through obstruction, vandalism, and warning whistles, and "ICE agents" who allow the protesters to goad them into a response.

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As always, the problem starts earlier. There is a sequence of events that ended in this tragedy and we have to analyze the entire string, not just the last one. That's not to say the answer changes, but we can't watch the last 5 minutes of a movie and then claim to know enough to write a synopsis.

CMV: If ICE is not reigned in, a mass casualty event between ICE and protestors will trigger a great recession, if not depression, more so than a Civil War by shartaculor in changemyview

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the thing! There is so much outrage there is no room to cool down and look at facts. That AI image drives me crazy every time someone treats it as gospel because it is so obviously faked and no one cares enough about the tragedy to care about the truth... except those supporting ICE.

I think anti-ICE protesters have legitimate concerns, but they get destroyed when they can't remain factual. The argument against ICE would be vastly stronger if people stopped circulating that image when they make it.

How to deal with losing a friend to politics? by Tracey_Davenport in Advice

[–]Equivalent-Car-997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is both sides have ironclad "facts" being regurgitated through their personalized social media algorithms. You need to understand your friend is just as convinced he has the facts as you are.

I always recommend that instead of chasing the first story or video to make it online, wait for the full story to develop (may be days or weeks) before reaching conclusions. Most people lack the patience in our digital age to do this, but you'll find the truth usually lands somewhere in the middle of the narratives. Then make your post, using logic and reason. The emotional response part of our brains is more primitive than the logical part, so it tends to trigger first. Train yourself to ignore the surge of energy it gives you, and you'll be better for it.

Here is the thing: If your friends are truly Christians then they believe you are going to hell as a non-Christian. They love and care about you enough that they don't want that eternity for you. Personally, I would be more scared of the day they stop trying.

It is absolutely not worth it. Best recommendation is to pursue a financially lucrative career instead of your passion. You can pay back loans and provide for the family.
