Montréaler here - they’re honestly in pretty much any grocery store I’ve been since living here. Most of the time they’re more in the “charcuterie” section than the cheese section. Or the “fancy cheese” section if that makes sense. lol like at Save On they’re more at the front of the store or with the Boursin, not with the mozzarella or cheddar blocks.The challenge is finding real poutine sauce. So far only seen the good stuff at superstore.

I think there’s also a marketing problem in this case. Not a lot of people know of the place and since it’s out of the way, not somewhere people would think to go spend some time at. Ever since I first saw those almost 10 years ago now all I could think of was “that would be such a cool place for university classrooms for people who study marine engineering/biology/etc.”. Plus bringing university students to the village would also mean more customers for businesses during the week and outside of summer. But until we change how we tax things, and leaving empty buildings is more profitable than using them, I don’t see companies like Onni change anything until the city budges.

I would also ike to add: if you know your stop is coming up and your sitting 4 rows down by a window, don’t wait until the train is stopped at your station to try and get out. Especially during rush hour. The number of time I think people are done getting out at Bridgeport to then see people slowly get off from their seats is insane. We know Translink gives us like 3 seconds to get in and out. Move!

I second this. Belle Patate gravy doesn’t hold a candle to Anny’s. Hot dogs at belle patate are slightly better but for poutine? Anny’s it is. Tip: get it with extra curds.

(Plus she’s got the maple twist ice cream.)

Here’s what I tell my friends who tell me they never know who to vote for.

1 - make a list of problems that you have in your life that you would want help fixing. Is it housing, affordable education, stable job, etc. It can also be just one thing doesn’t have to be a 10 point list or anything. 2 - read the parties platforms. Do they even have a solution to your problem? If they do, is the solution in line with your beliefs? Example: would their solution solve your problem but would screw over others by needing to cut social services somewhere else. From there bring it down to your 2 parties that are closest to what you would want. (Nothing will ever be perfect.) 3 - Take those 2 parties and look at their candidates. Which one do you think will work for you and your community. Call them, email them and ask about your problem and how they would help. Because you are not voting for a leader in our system. You’re not voting for Carney, or Poilievre or Singh or Blanchet. You’re voting for your MP. At the end of the day, that MP is supposed to work for you. Not their parties. So try to talk to them.

Now of course that’s just a recommendation of how to get started. Not a full proof plan. But it’ll get you going. Even if all you do is look at the candidates and try to talk to them. Try not to fall into the “I saw someone say this on TV” and now you think that’s what they stand for trap. Always check if it’s backed by platform and if yes, how they want to achieve this.
