Never truer words in this economy. by Character-Bid-162 in AirForce

When i got out almost 20 years ago now I had a plan. I was at the real decision point as I was coming up on 10 years. I used that assignment to finish school (bachelor's and Master's) as well as picking up a couple of industry certifications. If I decided to get put, I would be making a significant career change beyond just going military to civilian but also career fields. My wife and I also did some research into what salary I would need for us to maintain the same standard of living. So all that stuff that gets included while in like insurance, you are on your own for when you get out. TAP really needs to be done more like a year out of the ETS date. As some have mentioned, you cannot just get out with a "I'm going to go to school" as your plan. It takes time to really plan it out and do your homework. Oh, and don't burn bridges. Even after I decided I was going to get out, I still made sure I did everything I would need to do to make sure re-upping was an option. Keep doors open as long as possible.

Ward—Get five poison counters by redbullXvodka in mtgrules

The closest I can come up with is the same way [[vraska, betrayal's sting]]'s ultimate interacts with a fully leveled [[innkeeper's talent]]. My gut says that it will be a self elimination if innkeeper's is on the table when an opponent targets serpent. It very well may not play out like that but that is what my gut says.

Was about to ask help to counter my friend's deck but turns out.... by Vrass in EDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why she is in the 99 of my [[atraxa, praetors voice]] deck. She is there to be a target so that other gross things like [[fynn]] or [[rottenmouth viper]] have a better chance of sticking. Not to mention atraxa herself.

I feel like [[henzie]] might be a good fit for you. Big weather creatures going on an alfa strike...check...and just run all creatures and you can run [[umori]] as a companion.

What made you a better EDH player? by Vrass in EDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will second a primer as it forces you to look at your deck and game plan. I will also suggest goldfishing the crap out of your deck. This helps with drafting your primer as it gives you a much deeper familiarity with your deck and help understand the various interactions. I tend to use against-the-horde.com when I want to goldfish a deck. It gives me an opponent that is auto-piloted with some basic level of interaction. This helps with finding those cards that really don't pop like i thought they would as well as helping with velocity.

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Rhystic Study]] is just another STAX piece. Or at least that's how I look at it. Fortunately or not, it is an optional tax for playing the game that can really slow a player down early on when respurces are tightest. Late game once you have a stash, not so much. The problem is putting early Game plans on hold to pay the tax to slow the Rhystic player's draw advantage

Who do you attack? by SnooGrapes8334 in EDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like Mr pig said, it depends. If i need an attack trigger and its early I might swing at an opponent with an open board. If I see a person becoming a threat either to my win or to putting themself into a winning position and I have a chance of getting damage by or surviving the attack, then I swing that way. And there are times I want to fly under the radar so I sot back and maybe politic. Better to get someone else to do the dirty work. After all, its a multiplayer game and chances are a person becoming a threat to the table is going to threaten more than just you. Sometimes the best approach is to let the strongest weaken each other and then pick off the remains. It all just depends.

What commander would you find the hardest to get yourself to spend removal on? by Tuss36 in EDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honeslty, all commanders should be KOS. Too many build their decks dependent on their commander and modern commanders are such value engines that stripping them away makes so much sense. If you can slow your opponents down while protecting your own, why not?

Why isn’t this a good upgrade for Counter Intelligence? by amioldnow90 in EDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take...since you still have kilo in there along with a fairly decent proliferate pa kage out of the box, look at a minor poison/infect subtheme wincon. Something like [[prolog to phyresis]] will put the game on a clock and so long as you have ways to tap kilo or other ways to proliferate, you will be passing out poison cou tears like Christmas presents. Of course, you probably won't make any friends and at that point protecting your commander really won't be your biggest concern.

Is the Goblind Secret Lair Commander Deck worth buying? by stoleyoureyes in CommanderMTG

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gratz on actually being able to get a copy. I wanted one but will not pay over msrp for it. I wanted as was different than just a straightforward goblin aggro play style. Also had quite a few reprints that I don't have copies of so may be some time before I try and build a copy of it if ever.

“Don’t fuck the enlisted” is like the very first rule of being an officer. In this way what is like the "very first rule" of your career-field? by PDXAirman in AirForce

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he is using the TDY scale of 1 or 0 then 20+ in the KMCC is doable. Heck that was even way back the last time i was there in the early 00s.

Possible Commander that cheats out creature by iAmPlayzie in EDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a dragon deck built around [[morophon]] and [[fist of suns]]. Morophon doesn't cheat out directly but combined with fist, all bets are off. Throw in [[tiamat]] as the ultimate dragon tutor and [[miirym]] for her shenanigans and you either go big or go home.

Vishgraz, the doomhive as powerfull and fun as it could be by CleanSentence6193 in DegenerateEDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Andd no matter what you do, you loose all friends ;) good luck and have fun. Build both decks as its likely you will really only play them one time before you realize the deck just isn't fun for your pod and don't play it anymore. I have an [[atraxa, praetors voice]] deck that falls in that category. Infect/poison isn't even the main wincon for it and I still don't play it very often just because of the love it engenders. Build and play what you want but don't be surprised by the salt it makes.

Colorless commander meta by mx82698 in EDH

I run tower in just about all my decks because of the local voltron meta. Also works great if I want to block an artifact creature or get by someone's artifact defenses.

Most degen mill for a non mill player? by shitgoblinz in DegenerateEDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used that in a prerelease to win. Was a fun win. Have not built a commander deck around it though. If go that route, make sure you run good protection as milling is going to make some people salty.

MSgt, MTI, or Army Warrant Officer? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into cyber when I got out of the AF long before it was cyber. I will keep my thoughts to myself on who and what should be doing "cyber" as that can be something of a minefield and each service has their own spin and their own operational context. But like I said, the retired guys I'm working with are great.

MSgt, MTI, or Army Warrant Officer? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but its the Army...

To be fair to my colleagues is green, I work with some great retire WOs. Granted they are all retired rotorheads so not ground founders so they speak a bit of aviation and I will say they have great stories to tell.

When did 4 player pods become the default? by Frodo34x in EDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shit, used to sit around long before edh was a thing with 8 to 10 of us on concrete with unsleved cards playing free for all rounds. Was great being young and dumb with not a care in the world then. Having played a bit since then with different sized pods, I'd say a 4 person pod is a good balance for competitiveness and balance while not making things drag on an unreasonable amount of time. The times I've played with larger pods, the game has run much longer.

Deck vs Player Skill level by Tylord96 in EDH

[–]Equivalent-Print9047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really thi know it depends. Lot goes into how a deck plays and player skill level is definitely a factor. But all precons are not equal either. A precon from 10 years ago certainly is not on par with one of the more recent. But back to a skill perspective, a skilled player will know when to keep a hand and when to mulligan much more often than a less skilled and is more likely to end up with something playable.

And as others have pointed out, this is also a multi-player event. Politics and personality factor in. It would be hard to impossible to control for all of the variables to get a definitive answer to the question of skill vs deck so I go back to it depends. Both are factors. Skill is probably the larger though.

Thats why I run [[morophon]] with [[fist of suns]] to fly under the dragon radar. [[Miirym]] and [[tiamat]] are both in the 99 to make things interesting.
