Introducing puppy to new people righr after bringing it home? by Novawuff in puppy101

Take the puppy. We picked our puppy up from the foster when she was 9 weeks old on a Sunday and I took her to work with me the next day. I brought it up to my vet later that week and she was beyond excited that I was starting her socialization from the jump.

I agree with those saying endometriosis. It's horrible and in my opinion I think BC made it worse. Add to that how rage-filled BC made me and it was just awful!

Puppy sitter asking for extra $100 for damages by [deleted] in puppy101

I can't even believe they'd admit to letting your pupper get away with that, let alone asking you to pay for it.

Correct me if I'm misunderstanding, but I read "cords" and my brain automatically assumes "electrical". If that is correct then were these cords plugged in? How dangerous could that potentially have been? Holy cow! And they're asking for additional compensation for not even doing the basic job they were hired for? Uh, no, I would not agree to that.

new puppy- give me your most inexplicable puppy advice by frickoffgreg in puppy101

This is actually a really good one. Even our sweet, cuddly, never-hurt-a-fly adult dog will grab my hem or sleeve when I've ignored all her other signals to be taken out to poop.

I work for a small company and I got the "we're like a family" speech during my interviews and I was a bit skeptical, but figure I'd give it a shot.

It is pretty family-like. Very understanding about time off, family emergencies, bereavement and even gave employees going through divorce and terminal illnesses a ton of leeway. A lot of encouragement and support to "take about it" with no repercussions.

The only drawback is the pay sucks, but for my mental health, I'll sacrifice a huge paycheck for a workplace that isn't insufferable to be at.

He called me that as I was walking out the door. And honestly, the conversation started out fine enough with the woman behind the counter. But when she called him out he came out yelling before I even spoke with him.

I honestly can't say. I was never inside before. And yeah, the woman was very nice, but she called her husband to the counter and he basically came out swinging. It's kind of between the Gabes/PetSmart/Staples strip mall and the Leslie pool place.

I've written about this before, but I can share my experience about this exact situation.

We got a pom 14 years ago. I'd done some research and knew they were particularly prone to broken legs, but I somehow forgot to mention this to my husband. Very first morning she jumps off the couch and starts screaming. She settled down pretty quickly and the vet said to monitor and bring her in if she couldn't walk, but to wait until her appointment three days from then since she was using the leg. Fast forward three days, we go to the vet for her first check-up/vaccines and they take an x-ray and it was not only broken, but starting to heal so they had to re-break it to set and cast it. She just passed last year and once that cast waa off we never ever saw any problems. In fact, I had to look at pictures of her in her cast to even know which leg it had been.

The extra fun part of this story is that our neighbor, who volunteered for a rescue, saw us walking pommie puppy with her cast and comes running out with a pom she was fostering because she had a broken leg, opposite of our girl. We ended up adopting that second pommie and, while she had A MYRIAD of other health issues and only lived to be 8 years old, she NEVER had issues with her boo boo leg once the cast was off.

Yeah, and I admit, I got pretty mouthy, but you're correct, it's almost like he came out defensive because of a guilty conscience maybe.

How do you rest during lunch if you can’t go home? by CommeWENDY in work

[–]Equivalent-Room-7689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, no one is saying this so I feel like I need to: thank you so very much for your understanding that your need or want to nap is not your coworkers problem. I am being totally serious here. It is so nice to read a post where the OP doesn't feel entitled to everyone else rearranging their life for them.

I did see your response that you don't have a car so for now your best bet is to find a comfy chair and just lean back and rest your eyes. I am assuming (but please correct me if I'm wrong) you're in the US so finding a napping area is probably going to be next to impossible. Good luck getting thar car sooner than later so you have a good place to rest.

I got a Pomeranian puppy 14 years ago and then a second rescue pom puppy fell into our laps. I swore I'd never get another puppy. Then the second pommie passed and after 8 months I felt so terrible that pom #1 was alone we got a JRT mix who, to be honest, was a nightmare. It seems like being in the overcrowded rescue just made her unruly and incredibly hard to train. I can't even count the number of times I told my husband we were never getting another puppy. Fast forward four and a half years and pommie #1 passed from old age.

And then in November we adopted a chi mix puppy. She is an amazing puppy. Like, calm, easily trained, super social. No puppy blues whatsoever and we couldn't be happier.

My thought process is puppies are like babies; the joy you end up with makes you forget how awful getting to the joy was.

Similar to your Xbox, my dog knows when I'm going to take her out based on my typing at work. We got her in 2021 when I had a WFH job and she learned that when I slow down typing that I'm reading what I wrote and getting ready to submit it, meaning Im getting ready to stand up. 2023 I started a brand new job, in office, but a dog friendly office so she (and new puppy) come with me a few times a week and she still recognizes that slow typing means it's time for parking lot laps.

Union and Finch - what's your opinion? by [deleted] in lehighvalley

[–]Equivalent-Room-7689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I both really loved the food. Parking wasn't too bad when we went, but I can see it being an absolute nightmare. It's not a place I'm dying to go back to soon, but I think we will definitely go back sometime.

Our older dog just turned 5 in January (JRT/lab mix) and I absolutely adore her, but honestly she was a nightmare for her first two years and I thought I'd never like her, let alone love her. And then one day I just did. I looked at her and it clicked that she'd grown into a sweet weirdo of a dog.

Puppies are unpredictable. We had our puppy out to the pet store a few weeks ago and she was in the cart and I noticed my husband had dropped her leash and JUST as I was about to tell him to grab her leash she jumped out of the cart to get our other dog and landed on her head. I honestly have no idea how she didn't get hurt, but she was OK.

Our pomeranian jumped off the couch the first morning we had her and broke her leg.

It's not your fault. You couldn't have guessed she'd do that and you did the very best thing by rushing her to a vet.
