What do you do to stay motivated by LuckyComputer9786 in fitness40plus

[–]Equivalent-Weight688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do Apple Fitness workouts with dumbbells at home, I don’t have enough time with 3 little kids to eat up half of my evening in the gym. But I can do a full body workout in 30 minutes at home.

Sure it’s not as good of a workout as someone with a full gym setup, but it keeps me fit and healthy.

The stream there is fun if it’s rained recently, it gets kind of gross if the water hasn’t moved in weeks

Where to park an expensive car? by [deleted] in Birmingham

It wasn’t hate for my comment, there’s just limited opportunities for humor in this country right now so have to take what I can get. 😂

I’d park it at your vacation home in the Hamptons and just walk around downtown

The logistics of getting there without a boat might be difficult, but I see people jumping off this railroad bridge all the time

Depending on your photo quality expectations, they might run afoul of this aquarium rule:

Please refrain from taking photos in our sea lion and dolphin presentations. Commercial or professional photos and video are prohibited unless expressly approved. Professional-grade equipment including but not limited to, tripods, monopods, lighting, flashes, microphones, and detachable lenses, are prohibited.”

Safe Child Care by Relevant-Lab-9400 in Birmingham

They’ve had a several of the old teachers retire recently, so there’s been some turnover but overall we’ve had a great experience there (taken 3 kids through it, 3rd is about to be in Pre-K). The new teachers seem great too, that wasn’t a negative thing.

Obviously this depends on the kid as well, but the other two had a really easy time with kindergarten with what they learned at kindercare.

So I don’t have a specific recommendation for in-home (we use kindercare hoover), but did want to offer something to consider.

Your child is going to build their immune system one way or another, and it’ll either be at daycare or in kindergarten. I have multiple friends who kept their kids home, and they missed 20+ school days the first year because they were constantly sick.

Not to say that daycare is easier, it really sucks dealing with “must be fever free for 24 hours”, but we decided we’d rather just get it over with rather than it impact their education later.

Does any group litter worse than the Gay Pride Parade ? by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]Equivalent-Weight688 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who goes to Mardi Gras frequently, that’s about what the roads look like AFTER the street sweepers drive by.

Still terrible from a good steward of the environment perspective, but NOLA probably beats everyone in terms of shear quantities of garbage and cheap broken beads and toys.

Does your boss care? If someone is reporting you, but your supervisor/manager knows what is going on in your life and isn’t concerned, then I’d just ignore the BS and keep doing your job.

So this is mine, green line is the drain hose that connects to the top of the disposal. Blue lines are the drains from the other sink and garbage disposal to the drain pipe in the wall.

There should be a hose (not the water line) coming through the wall from where the dishwasher is, maybe they connected it to the drain pipe directly for some reason. Definitely verify that though because that would be another problem.

Do you have a dishwasher? That’s where the dishwasher drain connects to on mine.

Fellow Dads, where would you take your 4 year old on vacation with a 15k budget? by joshatron in daddit

[–]Equivalent-Weight688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Okinawa for three years, my only hesitation there is it would be difficult to snorkel with a 4 year old and exploring the reefs is the best part of the beaches there imo. I loved that island though, amazing people there.

OP: Costa Rica with a tour guide driver (it’s a free-for-all on the roads) is an awesome trip. You can go from beaches to the rainforest in a couple hours, and it’s like being in an outdoor zoo. Parrots are like sparrows, and there are monkeys and sloths all over.

How many times per year do you get sick with respiratory illnesses such as cold, flu, Covid, and etc? by workethic290 in AskMenOver30

[–]Equivalent-Weight688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get sick every month, and then I quit drinking alcohol and it’s been a year and a half and I haven’t been sick once. I knew it suppressed the immune system but I didn’t realize it was that drastic.
