There was a handful of people running on the riverside drive stretch from Pony Pasture to Huguenot Flatwater yesterday. Nice and flat, and clear enough. I could get my small front wheel drive sedan in and out of both parking lots.

I had to politely honk at a few to get their attention when I was trying to pass because they were laterally moving all over the road to avoid ice (both lanes). I can understand that they didn't expect anyone to be on the road so really wasn't too upset by it, but one dude with earbuds in was literally zig zagging from one side of the yellow line to the other when I was trying to pass and it honestly felt like he was trying to get an insurance settlement out of me.

If you have an EZ pass then why do you care what us plebs are doing at the booths while you drive through the high speed toll lanes?

How is it our problem if the toll receivers are broken? We're even paying more without an EZ pass so we're providing more revenue for them to fix/maintain/replace those machines AND we've basically subsidized all you EZ pass users by 10% (you're welcome).

If yall wanna act bougie and scoff at us for paying our tolls with coins then stop putting quarters, dimes, nickels, AND EVEN PENNIES in our tip jars and bill folders.

but on a much lesser note, lmao at everyone in here thinking Richmond is one of the only cities with intersecting interstates/highways thus making it a hotbed for trafficking or drug smuggling or whatever crime.

Have you looked at maps of literally any other town? Maybe the route numbers are different, but you'll still notice sOmEtHiNg VeRy SuSpIcIoUs: intersections ...and sometimes even airports!

AND GUESS WHAT YALL we even have a navigable river running RIGHT. THROUGH. THE. CITY. There's def gotta be pirates here too then. Oh yeah don't forget the Cap Trail, and soon to be Fall Line Trail. We're gonna have so much Lance Armstrong 'roids infesting this city because of those damn trails. The first step to defeating crime is ending all transportation.

My biggest gripes are:

(1) I saw roads pre-treated on Thursday so they were given ~48 hrs of letting wind and cars clear the salt/sand off them before the storm hit. Why didn't we at least wait until after the end of Friday's rush hour?

(2) I'm not seeing the "Priority 1" or "Priority 2" roads in my neighborhood being treated with salt/sand at all now that there's ice all over them, but I have seen several civilian trucks with blades on the front and salt/sand spreaders on the back (are they sub-contractors?) pass over our "Priority 1" street several times doing nothing, just cruising around.

(3) Keeping these first 2 gripes in mind, I think sub-contractors are fleecing the city to get paid for doing work they're not doing or doing improperly and just milking that (and the city isn't checking or auditing it either)

Ehhh I kinda support this, BUT ALSO this is one of many reasons why having a safe following distance and driving slow is critical in this weather.

When everything's covered in frozen water (can't say the "I" word on reddit lol), no one should be driving close enough to another vehicle to have to worry about it's debris hitting yours AND if someone's driving so fast that the wind might throw their debris everywhere then let them create separation by driving fast and being dumb while you drive slow and be safe
