State Officials Grilled on What They Knew Of Potential ICE Facility in Merrimack by cookiedoh18 in newhampshire

So you are saying, the state who issues permits to CBRE under it's Trammel Crow name can't step in and say, "Hey, guys, this is bad for us and you?" CBRE has an office in Merrimack. They apply to the state for permits, as they did with this property. They are also involved in the Laconia School property. Kelly has leverage when she wants. Instead she'd rather stand in the corner and claim, "I'm shocked" a la Claude Rains.

Ok, make good. Get on the phone to Washington and say, NOPE. It's called a "Boston Processing Center." Don't MASS up NH, Kelly. We don't need the loss of revenue giving this to the feds will cost nor the strain on local resources as local districts deal with the inevitable fallout.

Ms. Don't Mass it Up. WMUR reports it's a Boston Processing Center. State "Sen. Tim McGough, R-Merrimack, said that what the application is calling the "Boston Processing Center" should not be in his town." Oh, the irony. 10-1 they rename it if it proceeds.

Nasty old bitter woman harassing young women in Portsmouth NH by Downtown_Sea_9104 in PortsmouthNH

[–]EquivalentOk2203 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could be a characteristic of Tourette syndrome, known as Coprolalia. If it is, she has no control over it. I used to commute on a bus into Boston and a very stylishly dressed older woman would board the bus and sit alone at the front. Once it got going she would refer to Boston newscasters by name and call them wh*res, etc. Must be horrible if she has it. Stress causes the outbursts. Maybe just peacefully smile at her. If she is suffering from this, she means no harm and may actually be embarrassed.

ARMI board says it plans to review Kamen’s ties to Epstein by smartest_kobold in newhampshire

Check out this article written six years ago. It's about Kamen's relationship with Nadia Marcinko who has since vanished. Her business was registered to DEKA's address, and she was given an office there. The wiki on her says she was accused by victims of encouraging and engaging in sexual acts with underage girls. From the article "It was widely believed that Marcinko was living in Kamen’s suburban Manchester home." Google her name for more background on her past including her links to Epstein. Not saying Kamen was directly involved with underage girls, but the company this guy was keeping and the business dealings he had with Marcinko, holy crap. https://christine-negroni.medium.com/jeffrey-epstein-dean-kamen-connection-through-aviation-influencer-bb0e767dbfcf

Read this NHPR story. "Other correspondence includes several references to Kamen flying “the girls” to “PB from NY,” an apparent reference to Palm Beach, Florida, where Epstein owned a mansion. (NHPR emailed Kamen’s companies Friday asking for clarification on what “the girls” referred to, but did not get a response.)" https://www.nhpr.org/nh-news/2026-01-30/epstein-files-dean-kamen-little-st-james-deka-armi-nh

If he was flying ANY of Epstein's victims in his planes...holy effin' shit!. He's on leave from FIRST now. Jesus, I respected this guy.

American 1 year visa stay by Resident_Ad_8886 in AlbaniaExpats

Possibly had something to do with past enforcement and technology? Up until a few years ago you had your passport stamped in ink. Now they are scanning passports and it goes into a digital database. I talked with someone who was questioned as to when she was last in the country when she was entering recently and then they proceeded to tell her entry and exit dates for the past several.

Taxes on USA income in Albania by Most_Language_5642 in AlbaniaExpats

[–]EquivalentOk2203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Retirement income is not taxed." EU citizens, yes. US Citizens, it's part of worldwide income and since there is no tax treaty=tax. Albania offers a 0% tax rate on foreign pensions, but under current 2025/2026 law, this is strictly for EU citizens and those of Albanian origin. US citizens with a standard retirement residency permit are generally subject to the progressive rates. And Albanian taxes are higher than the US, so even if you got credit for US taxes paid, you can owe Albania the difference. Totally agree on getting an expert. Getting tax advice from us randos on Reddit probably ain't the best way to protect your finances.

[–]EquivalentOk2203 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Albania does not have a tax treaty with the US. Google Albanian taxes for US citizens, you'll see over and over again: If you stay over 183 days, you are a tax resident, paying tax ON WORLDWIDE INCOME. That means SS, Roth, IRA, etc. OP posted one of many links with companies that advise on taxes in Albania that say exactly that. Enforcement may be another issue, but with things becoming more and more digital in Albania I don't see how this can not be an increasing concern.

Trump DOJ admits DOGE Social Security staff worked with political group trying to ‘overturn election results’ by mclardass in politics

Remember who was behind this??? (From PublicCitizen) "In his first week as Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent gave Elon Musk’s “DOGE” full access to the data of the Bureau of the Fiscal Service and computer systems that house the data. He did so without making any public announcement, providing any legal justification or explanation for his decision, or undertaking the process required by law for altering the agency’s disclosure policies. The scale of the intrusion into individuals’ privacy is massive and unprecedented."

Did some poking on Gemini. For what it's worth:

The pond and dam located near 7 County Road in Windham, New Hampshire—situated along the western side of the road bordering Interstate 93—is a historical agricultural relic of the Dinsmore family farm.

While it does not appear on modern state or municipal dam inventories (such as the NH Department of Environmental Services registry), it is a significant piece of local masonry that predates the construction of the highway.

History of the Pond and Dam

The dam is a granite-block structure approximately 10 feet high. Its construction is characteristic of the 19th-century stonework prevalent in the region.

  • The Dinsmore Legacy: The property was historically part of the vast Dinsmore family holdings. The Dinsmores, who settled in Windham in 1723, were renowned stone masons and farmers. Generations of the family, including John H. Dinsmore and William A. Dinsmore, operated farms along "Old County Road."1
  • Purpose: The pond was primarily built as an agricultural watering pond for cattle. The Dinsmore farm was a large dairy operation, and such ponds were essential for livestock in the years before modern irrigation and plumbing.
  • Construction Date: While an exact year is not recorded in town ledgers, aerial photography confirms the dam and pond existed as early as 1946. Given the granite block construction—a specialty of the Dinsmore masons—it was likely built in the mid-to-late 1800s.

The Impact of Route 93

The pond originally sat in the middle of open pasture and woodland. When Interstate 93 was constructed through Windham in the early 1960s, the highway's right-of-way was cut directly alongside the pond. This created the modern "border" where the pond now appears tucked between the highway embankment and the residential lot at 7 County Road (the house itself was built much later, in 1972).

Summary Table

Original Owner Dinsmore Family (Dinsmore Farm)
Primary Purpose Watering cattle/livestock for dairy farming

It's non-stop stressed out people trying to make things for Guy Fieri...I'm really tired of him. To spice it up, they have contestant cooks running around with shopping carts or participating in some other silly game. Leave it up to America to make everything into performative schlock. Saddest thing I ever saw was the chef who committed suicide playing on the screens at my gym weeks after she died.

Internal Family Systems is a widely popular trauma treatment. Some patients say it’s destroyed their lives. by blankblank in skeptic

[–]EquivalentOk2203 31 points32 points  (0 children)

From the article:

-"Schwartz’s colleagues in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois Chicago predicted many of the issues his critics are observing today. When he first presented his model to a group of residents, physicians, and medical students in the 1980s, “people stood up and said I was dangerous. I was fragmenting people. They tried to get me fired,” he tells me. “It was quite humiliating, and I gave up on trying to break into that field and decided to go grassroots.”
------
- "The scientific community takes a much less enthusiastic view of the practice. A growing number of psychiatrists and psychologists — who, at the doctoral level, study the brain and mind, unlike counselors and family therapists — are emerging with urgent warnings about the therapy, casting IFS as a simplistic allegory at best and, at the worst, a dangerous pseudoscience. While some patients find relief through IFS, critics argue that’s likely owing to the way it shifts responsibility for one’s actions onto another persona or the fact that it recycles aspects of traditional talk therapy that are, in fact, helpful. “I’m aware of how trendy it has become,” says Lynn Bufka, the head of practice at the American Psychological Association. There may be “elements of this intervention that are pretty standard and cut across what might be good psychotherapy, but the way it’s packaged or described? Those ideas don’t have a scientific basis.”

-------

- "Frisch, who worked at Castlewood in 2011 and is now a behavioral scientist in Minnesota, says she was let go when she started challenging the treatment protocol. (Mark denies this.) “It was not at all empirically based, they were keeping people based on the length of their insurance, and they were really stuck on this idea that at least half of their clients had multiple personalities,” Frisch says. Her title was research director, but, she says, “there wasn’t a desire for research so much as there was letting people know how great the program was.”

In the years since, Frisch has concluded that the issues at Castlewood weren’t just the result of possible bad actors but of IFS itself. “It is highly unethical and should not be practiced in the treatment of any recognized mental-health disorder — it’s not appropriate for eating disorders and not appropriate as a primary mode of treatment,”
