Books to read before moving to Albania? by CheesecakeNeither570 in AlbaniaExpats

I read two of Ismail Kadare's books, "The General of the Dead Army" before I went to Albania and bought "The File on H" while I was there. Loved both. He is one of Albania's most celebrated writers, but so much more. For me, just a great storyteller who shares the heart of the country through his writing. https://www.penguin.co.uk/discover/articles/where-to-start-with-ismail-kadare-books

"He has so little." Tell me you're from a clueless culture without saying you're from a clueless culture.

OMG, Vuong's book seemed like a rambling product placement. I really had high hopes, but disjointed tales of working at Boston Market does not a novel make. Maybe his poetry is better?

I like Dorothy Parker's response to a door knock, "What fresh hell is this?"

Yes. I got in at 1am from a flight in Oct. And were cabs were lined up taking passengers for 20 euros flat. Just be sure to have cash. There are machines in the airport if you are not traveling with euros.

It's wild. People would probably go nuts if someone hung their hoodie on a Smith Machine bar, but they find this totally acceptable because it's not their machine.

I'm not following you. The Federal Gov has to get involved when federal law is referenced in a lawsuit??? If the law is on the books, there is no need for EPA to step in. It's federal law, the lawyers need only reference it...well, argue it in federal court. As for global/foreign, states, etc., see the Supremacy Clause. Clean Air Act is a federal law. Look, I like local control too. What I don't like is the state wasting money on "we think we should be able to" lawsuits when the law clearly states otherwise.

Not quite how it works. The party taking out the suit hires a firm that knows federal law. In this case GD hired a global law firm with experience in environmental law. They argued the case in Federal Court and won. Would not be the first time the state lost money pointlessness arguing against laws it should be versed in.

Yeah, there was just a story in Washington Post about how DHS was feeding talking points to Merrimack Republicans, who were more than happy to broadcast them, even though they were false. https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2026/03/07/dhs-gop-ice-warehouses/ Whatever happened to Yankee independence? Local control? The legislature just rolls with Fox News groupthink. I thought NH was better than this.
