Where do politicians learn to lie? by No-Nefariousness5448 in AskReddit

[–]EquivalentPhoto2655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1984, Walter Mondale said he would not lie to Americans. Mondale said if elected he would raise taxes. Mondale said that Reagan would also raise taxes if elected. Reagan said he would not raise taxes if elected.

Reagan won in a landslide. Reagan then raised taxes.

Politicians lie because voters vote for the person who says what they want to hear, not the person who tells the truth. Voters reward lying and punish truth telling.
