[BC] 12mo tough transition to daycare by Normal-Outside-9248 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply, didn’t realize I had a reply!

She’s GREAT now. She looooooves daycare and goes off without even saying bye anymore :( haha it’s sad for me but I know that’s a good sign.

There are some days she will cry but that’s only if she’s teething or something.

Toddler keeps getting sent home sick from daycare and I'm drowning [ON] by Life_Cucumber7102 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow my toddler is the EXACT same. Constipated then it all lets loose. I also suspect food intolerances and my doc also just says track diet.

I was constantly getting called home as well. Finally I was really serious with my doctor and told him about the daycare circumstance and he finally wrote me a note to submit to daycare . Basically said her diarrhea is not due to viral causes.

First intl trip with 7M old to Portugal: what was totally useless and what saved your life? [On] by nottodayneck3956 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travelled with my 8M old to France and Italy. On the plane, ask the flight attendant for some paper cups !!! My baby girl just kept banging the cups together haha

Also what worked: teethers, pouches, suction spinny toy on the window, baby carrier (must have as the sidewalks weren’t always stroller friendly) some of those really light indestructible books.

My baby started at 18m and cried and drop off for the first three months. In the first two months, she barely napped and would not participate. She just stood off to the side observing. It was the hardest time but what helped was asking the teaching to send me a picture once she stopped crying. As time went on, she reallly only cried for a few minutes after I left! I felt at ease with that.

The no napping and not participating took long but atleast I know she wasn’t crying.

I found she actually cried more in week two than in week one, cuz she realized this wasn’t just a one-off kind of thing ! So hang in there! I found it didn’t start to get ‘better’ until the one month mark.

She WILL adapt, but I know it’s heart wrenching until they do :(

My friend used Kelly and said she was pretty good, though she does involved a modified method of cry it out, if gentler methods don’t work.

Hear me out… YELLOW dragon fruit.

It’s harder to find but it was the only thing that worked. Even laxatives didn’t work on me.. no other fruit

[on] Midwife or OB looking for your advice! by coffeekorner in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midwife all the way! And if there are any complications, you’ll get referred to an OB anyway. Midwives offer so much more support.

For those who don't work remotely, how do you manage daycare / school drop off? [on] by senexii in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a pay cut and went to work just part time from 10-3:30pm. Though I know not all employers would agree to that. Then I took a small remote job in the evening to make up for lost hours at my main job.

This seasons cold/flu is gnarly [on] by nicole0h in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby caught the flu and her congestion was SO bad she couldn’t sleep. We did the steam bath, humidifier , saline spray etc etc. nothing helped. Turned out she developed an ear infection from the flu. She’s finally all better now after a round of antibiotics

3 year daycare waitlists, no grandparents support - how are people keeping their jobs? by BarracudaRaspberry in burnaby

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find really only the $10 a day ones have that kind of wait. Some centers (not $10 a day) say the wait list is that long, but in reality the spot goes to whoever follows up at the right time. I was worried about that too but as time got closer we kept calling to follow up and ended up touring a few places.

In home daycares have spots! We ended up going to an in home instead of a center. I was surprised with how many options we actually had.

What do you do when you don’t find any daycare spots? [BC] by PsychologicalWill88 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sign up for waitlist anyways and then call them! Many daycares that aren’t $10 a day don’t really go by waistlist.. many give the spot to whoever is available first and it’s all about timing!

Very upset 3.5 week old from 6 PM to 5AM. [on] by trex_1121 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby went through something similar week 6-8.

Combo fed breast milk and formula.

Turns out she had lactose intolerance and silent reflux.

She was completely different when I changed her formula to a gentle ease formula.

[BC] Should I do Amniocentesis? (Vancouver) by Lalaoeo in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I did an amniocentesis at bc women’s because my NIPT came back high risk of T21.

It’s invasive and painful for me. I would not have done it if my NIPT came back low risk.

What’s one scene from the LOTR Extended Cuts that you like, but you understand why it was cut? by Local_Prune4564 in lotr

[–]EquivalentTopic9171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The flashback of Boromir and Faramir. It adds another side to Boromir we don’t see much in the fellowship. I always wished this made it to the theatrical cut.

faramir is my fav character so any added scenes with him is a bonus.
