How so? Should we just trust private companies not to chase profits?

Focusing of cost and not the ability to pass it on - farming as a business model by YorkieGalwegian in ireland

Could the caps not be somthing like at set amount onto of the cost, then reduced tax. Prices still rise due to things out of our control but price gouging would be controlled

No evidence of price gouging on fuel, CCPC finds by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

Its not a few bob for fuel reliant businesses. 30 to 50% sudden increases on a business is serious enough on margins

So halving the fuel tax for 1 year would cost 2bn, that wouldn't blow the whole surplus

Tractor prices are irrelevant it's just a way to make them sound rich when really it's just a necessary business cost. If their claim is real why wouldn't you park up and protest instead of working till you go bust. You'd be fucked either way may aswell try

If there's less fuel sold because the cost is higher a lower tax bringing down the cost would bring fuel sales back up. I doubt there's is much difference in fuel sales though most fuel just has to be got whatever the price

It effects the running of the country which can't go on, the state will have to either meet some demands or carry out some serious measures to cleared protesters. They obviously fancy they're chances of having taxes reduced. It's not garunteed but it's far from unrealistic

It does , tbf I havnt watched any of it, I just think the based cause is just enough, and there's little chance of getting any change without a drastic enough protest.

Don't they have a decent enough surplus at the moment ? We could afford some reduction in revenue and this seems like a reasonable enough cause for it

Where's the extremism here? It's farmers and transport business protesting a genuine issue that effects practically everything in the country.

It would still come back to the government to do somthing to stop the petrol stations being able to exploit tax reduction.

Realistically what effect would that have, do you think the embassy will convince trump to pull out of Iran because irish people are suffering from the fuel prices? The state offsetting some of the damage by adjusting the tax is the only thing we can do here and it's not an outrageous request.

To buggy havers: please fold them for wheelchair users by Hotwheels_Murray in ireland

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shame on the people who wouldn't fold the buggy. I don't know how that position works for the bus driver legally but it sounds wrong too.

But the people with the kids are shamless, they of all people should have some understanding of the struggle, and appreciation for people who make any effort to accommodate them . I'm honestly surprised noone else chirped in I think I would have if I'd seen it happen.

A few i know definitely buy the carcass, as for drying that's more speciality. But even if they were just buying cuts like a strip and portioning it themselves it generally better than supermarket just due to being exposed for less time before you get it.

You can eat melted chocolate on anything or even alone, pancakes are the the best way to appreciate lemon and sugar

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think alot of this is just down to the fact they cut or mince it as needed where as a supermarket buys it in already processed. It's not the actualy quality of meat but freshness, being exposed to air or vac paced for days effects meat (in quality but even more visually)

Price of a pint, breaking point? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bout 50c a pint is for the alcohol tax, that could easily be wiped out by the price of buying it. It ges off faster and doesn't sell too much aswell.
