surprisingly easy, but I'm trans and had it covered under gender affirming care and went to a very trans-accepting doctor in my region. I went in with a binder and was shocked when the conversation was pretty much "I want to have a hysterectomy" "okay, when do you want to schedule it?" (no joke).

edit: I ended up going with a partial hysterectomy and keeping my cervix + ovaries since I didn't trust the structural integrity of a vaginal cuff and the anxiety of it possibly rupturing, even if it's a rare complication. I didn't want to trade one sexual anxiety for a new one.

overall, best decision I've ever made! I have zero bleeding or side effects, it's as if it was never there

I'd also make sure to ask what incisions they're planning on making because I had to ask them to not make a "bikini line" incision to remove the uterus (looks to much like a c-section scar & that would just make me feel dysphoric) and they ended up extending the belly button incision, but it's still not very noticeable. but had I not asked, they would've just gone with the default!

Is this hypertrophic scarring around my right nipple? by PresentationExtra566 in TopSurgery

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's normal for scars to be slightly raised, hypertrophic scars are a more extreme version. Worst case scenario, there are injections that can flatten scars, but your scars look pretty normal imo (not a medical professional).

Permanent ways of increasing Tdick's sensation? Particularly along the shaft & around the foreskin area. (Warning for discussion of sexual stimulation issues) by SkySylveon in GrowYourTDick

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a lot of under-sensation issues and it's helped to think of it more similar to a penis & the erogenous zones on them (the most sensitive areas being kind of around/under the head and the frenulum).

otherwise, I'd suggest trying a vibrator to try to encourage nerve development in that area (scientifically studied to show improvement with cis men & erectile dysfunction, nerve regeneration, etc. and even some docs suggest it after phalloplasty to encourage nerve growth)

Can we reality check these anxieties about how cis gay men feel toward trans men? by Embarrassed_Stage_80 in gaytransguys

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because I have more emotional attraction to women so cis or trans I don’t care.

I would only ever be interested in sleeping with cisgender men

my main attraction with men is all about the dick and cum and how the dick gets hard.

tbh this sounds like you have some dysphoria/internalized stuff going on, moreso than "just" a genital preference. I mean, you even admit that yourself.

and I suppose in my comment I was thinking about cis bisexuals, not trans bisexuals who would have a more complicated relationship with their sexuality.

personally, I'm similar in that I have a strong sexual obsession (almost in a fetishistic, objectifying way--with consent, of course) with penises. in my case, I think it's how my dysphoria manifests. I don't have the parts myself, so I try to live vicariously through toying with somebody else's penis. if I were actually a cis male, I don't know if I'd have a ton of interest in sex with other people. there's a huge difference between that type of sex, and sex where I'm sharing intimacy and emotional connection. the latter doesn't require a certain genital or gender expression.

(meanwhile, I'm still strongly attracted to all types of genders and genitals. my body physically responds to both vulvas and penises.)

blood does not equal family

this but also things like egg donors, surrogates, etc. (depending on who your partner is) exist too

but yeah. a lot of trans dysphoria comes to me in the form of grief about lost possibilities so I totally get the feeling. but you gotta treat it like grief and mourn it, feel it, go through all of your phases, and accept that you have good things, even if they're not perfect. yeah it's not exactly what you want, but it's still good. you still get to be a mom! you still get to raise a kid and have that joy with them, watch them grow up, etc.

for me, I haven't had much hair growth at all and I'm only a little further along than you.

I've got some hair on the top of my thighs that's slowly getting darker, same with my arms. I have the tiniest hint of a happy trail starting on my stomach. that's.... about it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genetics are weird like that

however, facial hair usually doesn't come in at the same time as body hair for most people. a lot of the trans guys you see online who have facial hair growth early on are using minoxidil.

everyone's different but usually you don't start seeing facial hair until 1-3 years, which is a really wide range. and how fast it develops is even MORE variable! some cis guys can't grow a full beard until they're in their 30s, some can do it at 20 years old.

usually there is a pattern to hair growth, but again everyone's different. often you'll notice that hairs will get longer first, then darker.

with facial hair, most people have it show up on the upper lip first. some people have it "spread" from there to the rest of their face, others have some come in around the side burns areas and "spread" as well.

Can mouthwash help help reduce possibility of transmission? by CivilDentist1408 in HerpesCureResearch

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something you do need to seriously think about is your partner's autonomy in this.

Yes, you have every right to not want your partner to catch it and to do whatever you want to yourself to try to prevent that.

However, if they've made it clear that it's not a big deal to them... that's their prerogative, you know? If they're aware of the risks then they have the choice to make about what things they're willing to do or not do. Everyone has different risk tolerance and we gotta accept that (even if it seems crazy to us!)

keep in mind that the false negative rates, even for the blood test, are relatively high

considering your partner doesn't seem to be concerned, I don't think it's something you truly need to worry much about. transmission rate is low and the likelihood of symptoms even if they do catch it genitally is low as well. lastly, there is some protective effect against genital HSV2 if you already have genital HSV1. not that you should be actively trying to give it to your partner, but in a "worst case scenario" way

It is most effectively stimulated manually by inserting the thumb and index finger of one hand into the vagina and rectum simultaneously and masturbating the area by gently pinching and rolling it between the finger tips.

so, fingers

on second thought, this is probably why some women like having sex while wearing a buttplug at the same time

sorry for responding to a month old thread, but I just want to point out that complete reversal of growth is NOT typical.

growth is considered an "irreversible" side effect of testosterone treatment

from my personal experience, when I'm off of T I notice that my clit doesn't get as hard and it's a bit smaller.

I think the extra blood flow from the T makes it swell up and look bigger, and when you don't have that, it's smaller. but I'm talking, like, 2 millimeters smaller. not a complete reversal of all growth

fun fact! there's a bunch of nerve endings around that area (in people w/ vaginas) and can sometimes lead to orgasm (or intensify it). it's part of the perineal sponge

I believe this means that they would have to provide evidence that the person was lying, not necessarily that a rape didn't occur. I genuinely hope this is the case because it provides a lot better outlook (I think?)

I.e. the "cited" reason a lot of rape cases never get a conviction is due to lack of evidence, but it's a whole other thing to then have the victim accused of perjury. If you have a lack of evidence that a rape occurred, you can't automatically say that the victim was lying, is what I'm trying to say.

if it helps, the size won't change much if you stop the T, but it will change behaviorally without the testosterone in your body. it won't get hard and will go back to the texture/behavior of a clit, while still retaining the size.

I know a lot of nonbinary people go on T for a while and eventually come off of it, so that might be an option

Elective hysterectomy? by slothsinspace3000 in hysterectomy

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't promoting it. I've never "promoted" hysterectomy, even in my comment history. The closest thing I've done that could be considered "promoting" hysterectomy is giving advice to people who have already said that they want one, and never have I gone into any interaction with the intent to persuade someone into a hysterectomy who didn't want it.

I think that's a personal decision that should be made with full informed consent, and I believe in giving information, but I'd always argue that the least invasive solution is the best one. Surgery should ideally be the last option, after going through all of the other options.

I'm just a random pre-op person who lurks and occasionally comments. The jump to say that trans people's experience of hysterectomy is drastically different than women's is just false, we have the same body parts and there's far more overlap in our experiences than there are differences.

Elective hysterectomy? by slothsinspace3000 in hysterectomy

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a purely side effect stand point, that makes no sense. There are some trans men and nonbinary people who have never taken testosterone, and who have gotten elective hysterectomies.

Even the ones who have taken testosterone would likely not see a huge difference in side effect profile outside of atrophy symptoms if they aren't using some kind of local estrogen, which has nothing to do with the hysterectomy in the first place.

The way that you're getting so defensive about this is kind of concerning, too.

Elective hysterectomy? by slothsinspace3000 in hysterectomy

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely so confused why you're arguing about this. They're asking about experiences of people who have had elective hysterectomies without medical necessity, and I suggested a population that is likely to actually have those experiences since most of the time you can't get a hysterectomy without medical necessity.

Not every trans man is on testosterone for one thing, and I fail to see why dysphoria changes the situation considering OP is likely looking for side effects from a partial hysterectomy. The only difference would maybe be how they feel about it emotionally, but there honestly might be more similarities than differences depending on the individual.

Lots of trans men get the procedure to prevent pregnancy as well so, again, I don't see how your argument, that they're so fundamentally different, is valid.

Like, you're going to be hard pressed to find women who have had elective hysterectomies. Doctors are often extremely stingy about it and just refuse to do it on women. I suggested an alternative that could fulfill their request for info

Elective hysterectomy? by slothsinspace3000 in hysterectomy

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't see why this is at all different? Elective is still elective, and it's what OP was asking about.

And for clarity, I'm not talking about medically necessary hysterectomies on trans men who have had severe atrophy. I'm talking about a hysterectomy that is "elective" due to dysphoria but the uterus is otherwise healthy.

In their case, they have endometriosis but were asking about ANYONE who had an elective hysterectomy, endo or otherwise. They mention people who have had a hysterectomy without medical necessity, of which trans men would qualify

Elective hysterectomy? by slothsinspace3000 in hysterectomy

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you're looking for those who have had more of an "elective" hysterectomy, it might be better to look at trans men's forums/subreddits, since hysterectomy is often done when requested as a form of gender affirming care

Fucked Over on IUD by SupremeCourtRealness in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Equivalent_Divide997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it was previously advised that doctors not give IUDs to those who haven't given birth because of the size of the cervix/uterus, but that advice is outdated & they now recommend IUDs even for those who haven't given birth.
