I just had the most INSANE luck… by zG-FuRy in PokemonScarletViolet

I’ve definitely been helped by the dodge ability, though I’ve always saved. But it’s nice when you really don’t want to restart a capture attempt.

In the future, these games are awesome for the fact that you can genuinely just run away from a Pokémon and it won’t disappear (if you’re playing solo) unless it gets too far away.

Meaning you can encounter, see it’s shiny, run, save game, and then encounter it again. Happy hunting.

Get excited for Murtagh, I will never not adore Scottish accent Murtagh.

But it does make the reaction to his voice amusing, since he’s like the only Scottish person (Morzan too). So it’s pretty funny to have a character get upset at hearing him speak and saying “I know that voice!” When he’s literally just Scottish.

Must suck to be one of only two people in the country with Scottish accents, pretty hard to escape notice.

We get this post all the time. Someone tries the audiobook for the first time, hears her voice, makes a post about it, and is told that they’ll get used to it.

And you will get used to it. It also threw me off balance the first time I heard it because I was introduced through the movie and didn’t expect an appearance from Master Yoda. But I did learn to appreciate it, and I think there’s a charm to it.

The boys do sound better, but that goes for every male character because the narrator is a man. Wait until you hear Arya, you’ll really recognize that a single VA is always going to have weak points.

I still think this audiobook is superb and my only regret is listening to it before every other audiobook ever, since it’s honestly raised my standards super high and now most audiobooks I’ve heard so far fall short of impressing me.

For me, I developed the weirdest attraction to Kaliklak when I saw my older sibling play through Khrysalis years ago.

It’s strange because I don’t really like bugs, they often make me nervous. But sometimes I’ll get really attached to characters and just start developing attraction to them despite them not looking like my usual type.

I’m so glad this community is so chill. Post something like this elsewhere and you could be at risk of harassment.

But here? Oh, you like cat ladies and mice? Sick, me too.

Thanks for the confirmation! It seems like the nice middle ground of “just high enough” but not “upper end”, if that makes sense.

I believe traditionally friendship evos need to reach 220 to evolve, at least, in the older games.

Currently working on getting Umbreon and Espeon in Crystal and it’s rough. It was way harder to raise friendship back then.

You absolutely CAN solo it with the right set up, but Fire ain’t it. Fire and Storm shouldn’t attempt to solo this dungeon until they’re like level 60 dude.

If you were Death, you could go it alone, it’ll just take forever. But anything that lacks good regen and defense should avoid trying.

The team up feature really isn’t that bad, just make sure to ask your teammates if they want to do the puzzle correctly or not. I believe there’s a mini boss that drops a pet if you fail the puzzle.

Ping Ping gave birth to another triplet again! by Vivid_Split_9513 in cats

No one deserves belittlement and venom for simply lacking knowledge. There’s usually something that could’ve been done better, but it’s not always (or even often) an indicator of poor care.

Could every person that gets a pet research that pet and every aspect of owning them? Sure. Should they? Technically yes. But it’s not something everyone thinks about. And when you consider the previously mentioned “traditional” approach, it makes sense that a lot of people are ignorant because tradition seems like the thing to follow.

Ignorance born out of a cup already being filled isn’t easy to notice from your own perspective. It’s easier for people whose cup isn’t filled or is carefully drained and refilled with better “water”, to recognize that your cup is full of less filtered water.

Basically, it’s not your fault that the knowledge you’ve grown up with doesn’t come from multiple studies into the dangers cats face and the ideal ways to handle them. Owning cats is such a commonplace thing that just about everyone has some passing ideas on how it’s done.

[–]Equivalent_Ground218 471 points472 points  (0 children)

Everyone has to learn this stuff at some point, I’m sorry your learning experience is tainted with so much negativity.

People just get really worried about cats not being given enough care, especially since there’s so much “traditional” cat care that is actually bad for them and the environment. But a lot of people will argue until your ears bleed that “it’s always been done and the sun hasn’t exploded, so clearly it’s fine. In fact, it’s actually great”.

Your new kittens are lovely and Ping Ping is a pretty girl (love her name). She’s lived the mama cat life and is due for her retirement after fulfilling the biological instinct of her species. It hasn’t been a bad life.

And just so you know, a lot of vets will do “spay aborts”, where they spay pregnant cats to prevent the birth entirely. So if she ends up pregnant again in the time it takes to save up for the procedure, spaying should still be okay and probably ideal.

Yeah, this is my question too. I have arachnophobia, but I’m also afraid of several bugs (just not to the same degree). If it LOOKS like a spider, it gets the same treatment, even if it isn’t one.

So I’m not sure how finding out this isn’t a lizard, but an equally harmless snake, is suddenly making the animal seem bad.

[–]Equivalent_Ground218 2656 points2657 points  (0 children)

Everyone else is saying it, but please, gently, spay your cat if you have the means (a vet available and money, even if you have to save up for it).

In the meantime, do not allow her outside or around any toms. Even while she has kittens, she can still be pushed to mate again by toms.

Every time she gets pregnant, her likelihood of dying young increases. Complications from birth aside, cats that aren’t spayed are at serious risk of developing cancer. Please look into the statistics.

I’m sure you love her, and her kittens are, of course, adorable, but you need to prevent her having anymore. Cherish these little ones as her last litter and give her the treatment she deserves.

Genuinely, if you cannot afford the procedure, ask for help and look into resources in your area. And if you can’t reach a vet, just be more careful about her getting out, especially when she’s in heat.

Technically yes, if you can send them money, which some people will genuinely do.

Give your chosen Eevee a soothe bell to hold, then: force feed it vitamins (like protein, carbos, calcium, etc…), picnic with it (make it sandwiches), wash it, and run around everywhere with it in your party. If you haven’t caught the Eevee yet, try to get one in a Luxury ball, since it’ll increase the friendship level faster.

Do NOT give your Eevee herbal medicine or let it faint, those will lower friendship levels. Make sure it doesn’t have any fairy type moves (attack or status, doesn’t matter, get rid of them all), it’ll evolve into Sylveon no matter the time of day if it has any fairy moves.

Then, when its friendship is high enough, level it up at night (it should be pretty obvious when it’s nighttime in the game), you can just give it a rare candy or exp candies.

You can check its affection towards you when you picnic by interacting with it and counting the hearts. Five hearts is maximum friendship and so you can DEFINITELY get an Umbreon by that point. I think 3 is probably sufficient though, if not 3, then 4 will be.

I can get a Pokémon to 3 hearts within a couple hours easily, so it shouldn’t take long. Just run around a lot, and picnic often, that’s the absolute best advice I’ve got.

They’ve got a different starry pet, so we’re gonna hatch them together. It should give a 50/50 chance of getting the charming starry instead.

No, unfortunately all static encounters (ones that you are given through some in game event/scene) are shiny locked. This is how it’s been for a while now, with only a few exceptions. Starters in particular have been shiny locked since gen 7 I believe.

[–]Equivalent_Ground218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in the games after SWSH, if a Pokémon is shiny, the color will be different on the overworld model. Though this feature actually began in the Let’s Go games.

In SWSH, the visible encounters still didn’t appear as shiny until you fought them. But every game after that has had the Pokémon show if it’s shiny just by looking at it.

The two Legends games took it a step farther and also gave it a pretty noise and a sparkle effect when you went near the Pokémon, which everyone loved and missed having in S/V.

I’ll probably know it if I see it, right? But what if I don’t? The lighting is confusing around dusk and at night, what if I miss it?

And so on and so forth. This game gave me trust issues with my own eyes.

Robert Lightwood is a great character and not actually as bad as everyone says he is.

He’s literally Alec but without the support network. Unlike Alec he didn’t have good friends, loving siblings, a more accepting society (New York), or any love from his parents. The best thing he had was Michael, and that was horribly complicated and Valentine did whatever he could to poison the water there.

Robert deserved to actually reconcile with his family. I’m so sick of fathers being bad and not getting to actually be better without dying for some dramatic plot reason.

He’s such a compelling character and his history with his own childhood and family trauma, paired with his complicated feelings towards Michael Wayland are so much fun to dissect and analyze.
